Question about bees
« on: July 15, 2017, 11:43:38 pm »
Em hotep, everyone!
Could you please give me some ideas about what Name are bumblebees associated with?
I remember bees associated with Neith (is it right?) and being called "tears of Ra", but does it apply to bumblebees as well?

Bees in Egypt was part of the king's title the sedge and the bee represented Upper and Lower Egypt.  So associated with Ra, not sure about Nit.  As for bumble bees they are limited to certain parts of the world and not Egypt at least not back in ancient times.  So I wouldn't include bumble bees in that.  More info...

Em hotep!

I honor Nit in my practice.

Nit is very sharp and piercing.  Hemet recently answered a question about Her as being associated with sleep in ancient times and my guess is that sleep allows you to pierce the Duat.... possible but not a definite explanation there.

Bit She's also a Name with a strong, Provider streak.  She's a Mother too.

So possible connotations with both bees and the King from a protective-Provider end?

Hopefully someone will provide clarification
