Winding Paths
« on: November 04, 2017, 04:32:48 pm »
Hello, everyone. I am generally terrible at these introduction things, so I will just copy and paste what I wrote for the beginner's class form.

I suppose I have always been of Kemet, long before I knew anything about Kemetic Orthodoxy. I have always followed a path with the Egyptian pantheon, though I was never part of any organised group.
When I was 12, I had something of an awakening when in a dusty shop full of stones in Norway. There on the counter was a small statue of Yinepu, sitting cross-legged. I felt drawn to put a particular moonstone on his lap, and in that moment I felt a joy that is difficult to accurately describe. It felt very much like what, as an adult, I now understand to be love. I do not have the statue anymore, as my life and travels have taken me to many homes across continents; but in private moments I have spoken to him, though not as much in the past decade. In dark moments in my life, facing homelessness and abandonment, it was Amun the Ram Headed that I called out to - and I found that whenever I asked Amun for help, it was always provided. I was always careful not to ask him unless it was serious.
For the past decade, my communication with the gods has faded into silence. I think perhaps they were allowing me to grow and learn on my own, knowing I would come back to them when I was ready. I feel that I am ready now.

What I want from membership is really very simple - just to exchange experiences, observe, compare notes, learn and occasionally discuss with other people who are of Kemet as I am. Having walked this path alone with the gods for all my life up until now, I am interested to see where similar paths have taken others.

A quote oft attributed to Socrates is "I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing."
What I bring to the Netjeru and to the House is an old but open soul that ultimately desires peace, introspection, guidance, and temperance. I am an artist, and every now and then, I offer to them an outlet, or an offering.
As I touched upon in a previous section, I feel like I am ready to return to speaking with the gods, perhaps in a new way.

I do not have a particularly storied history with faith; It has been always as it has been. In the past decade I have lost touch with it. My spirituality runs in duality with my focus on fact-based analysis in a worldly sense. I feel that there is a place for both in life, and that both can help to inform one's personal understanding of the other.

That is my Ma'at, as it is to me. I am glad to be here, and hope to learn the words for the things I have felt for most of my life.

Your Yinepu story was so sweet, thank you for sharing that with us. It sounds like you have lovely relationships with Yinepu & Amun.  I love hearing about others' experiences with gods. <3

Welcome Bakethetep.

What a wonderful story about Yinepu.  I adore him but I'm very biased.  See you on the boards.
