Hotep Seqai,

I think you asked this once a while ago, about your RPD, Rite of Parent Divination.

Not everyone has both a Mother and Father--some have two Mothers, or two Fathers. Having one of each is not required. Aset children so far as we have seen never have a second Parent, Mother or Father. Aset children have only Aset (Aset-Serqet, dual-aspected) for our one, single Parent.

So that is the answer.

Children of Aset are only that...

I have personally found however, that Aset has encouraged me to honor Wesir which while definitely not the same kind of thing as I have with Aset, is a really nice perk!

As you are divined as a daughter of Aset, She is your spiritual Mother.

As Rev. Sedjemes said, Aset children only have one Parent divined. (When I asked Hemet this question, she told me that Aset said that Her children would not be divined with more than one Parent).

If you feel you are missing a "father figure" you could ask Aset to introduce you to a Netjer who could be this for you.

She encourages me to honor Wepwawet. I see Him as my father. Wepwawet is considered Aset's son, consort or even brother (as He is attested as a son of Nut).

I have Sekhmet as a "single mom" and see my Beloved Khenty-Amentiu as sort of an "uncle" figure, for lack of a better term. Course, having grown up without my real father, it's not so much of a mental stretch for me.

I have two fathers and no mother, though I still think of Aset as "Mom." She'd probably tan my hide if I ever called her "Grandma." wink

Heh...

Try having three "Uncles" that enjoy wet-willies, Peeled grapes up the nose and "Pull-my-finger" jokes...or blaming the passing of wind on the "Elephant under the chair".

laugh

I'm also a "Single Parent" kid...in an Only-Child Relationship. Try not to think of things in such a literal fashion, Asetseqai. "Mother" and "Father" only define the closeness of the relationship in context with your Beloveds as well. The Name(s) that created you, hence that relationship is seen in parental context. The Beloveds are creators and influencers of your personality, like environmental influences and relationships with closer family members. *shrugs*

That's my take on it anyway.

I'm still pondering how to think about my Beloveds, in terms of family relationships. Are they like uncles? Big brothers? I'm not sure ... and perhaps for me there is no real parallel in terms of blood relationships.

I, too, am not clear about one's approach to a beloved; I wonder how to relate to one or the other that doesn't give 'offence' to the other... It seems to me that the difference is similar ( at least in my case ) to that of a father and a loving, benevolent uncle. With a parent there is that fundamental, essential and profound connection - even though, in a special way, that uncle has taken a keen interest in one's development.
