I was a wanderer for many years, and eventually came back around. I used to think that Wicca was too restrictive for what I needed to do. That really meant that I needed to be doing something else. I spent some time with that, and it was very useful. I learned things that I couldn't have learned any other way.
Then I changed again. I began to see the value of a daily practice. I don't do senut daily either. I have a reminder on my desktop and when it pops up I decide whether it's a good day for senut or not. Sometimes they tell me to haul my butt in there anyway. It's basically a reminder to check in. The end part is where you do what you want. Sometimes we talk. Sometimes I dance. Sometimes I read the cards. Sometimes I just sit quietly. The ritual is just a frame to hang stuff on, but it's pretty handy for that. It's what you do with it that counts. If you don't put anything into it, then yes, the ritual by itself can be empty.
I'm glad I've seen both sides. My ritual is better because I know myself. I've experimented, played around, and tested my limits. Now, my private practice is also better because it's consistent.
