Title: Bee-Keeping Webinar
Post by: Tahai on December 21, 2010, 12:06:20 pm
Em hotep, Kemetic Community!

As many of you know, I am a Penn State Master Gardener, so interesting things come through my mail box from time to time.  Recently, I recieved a request by the Penn State Cooperative Extension to help promote their latest Webinar, a Beginning Bee-keeping course.

I immediately thought of my Kemetic family, as I know many of you have an interest in sustainable practices.  The Webinar is entirely internet based, runs the course of one year, costs $150 (US), and is taught by a Penn State professor.

I decided to post in this forum, as I believe helping to re-establish and strengthen the bee population is of vital importance to the health of the entire living planet, so bee-keeping could be considered a vital act of service.

Following is the information I received.  Hope some of you decide to participate.  Please share the information in your other forums, as you never know who's always had a desire to learn bee-keeping!

Blessings and Merry Moomas!

Tahai

Beekeeping For Beginners – Virtual Webinar Series

Penn State Cooperative Extension is conducting a virtual Beginner Beekeeping Class starting in February 2011.  The webinar course is designed to create a foundation of beekeeping knowledge in order to confidently help beginners manage honeybees.

Webinars are web-based seminars which delivers training through the Internet directly to your computer. You are able to view the presentation via your home/office computer and listen to the audio portion of the presentation through your computer’s speakers. These are interactive and will allow the participants to ask questions and communicate with the presenters.  If you can’t join the session or would like to review a certain topic, sessions will be recorded and available to participants until the end of the year

The Beekeeping for Beginners is a one year course that will include the following:
1.   A seven part live webinar series (all sessions will be recorded and available until December 31, 2011)
2.   Virtual Beekeeping Field Day
3.   Accessibility to instructors through:
o   Virtual office hours
o   Discussion forums
The registration fee for the one year Beekeeping for Beginners is for $150.  Registration and agenda information can be found at: http://clinton.extension.psu.edu/Hort/webinar/11Beekeeping.htm

Em hotep, Tahai.

My husband keeps bees :).

Thankyou for posting this - I'll share the information with anyone who may be interested. Bees are fascinating, and we really do need more people to learn about them :).

I wish I had time to do this! One of my ambitions for when I have my own home and land is to keep bees. Ideally I want to keep native bees, so if anyone has information on that I'd love to hear it.

I'd love to do this, but my boyfriend is terrified of bees :(
