Title: Pagan Blog Project 2012
Post by: Helmsman_of_Yinepu on January 19, 2012, 10:11:14 pm
This is a cooperative blog project that just started this year. There are about 200 people involved so far, and it's not too late to jump in.

Pagan Blog Project 2012 (http://paganblogproject.com/?page_id=7)

The idea is to post a blog entry every Friday for it. The first two posts being on a subject that starts with "A", then "B" etc.

Several other House members are contributing already, and I'm thrilled to see Kemetics making a showing on it.

I'm thinking those of us who are contributing should also provide a link for each post we do on this thread. :D

You just write them on your regular blog if you have one, and add links for the project.

Thanks for sharing this - I have seen it on Facebook but wasn't sure what it was about.

I'm trying to be more disciplined about writing, and am thinking maybe I'll try to participate in this.  :)

Ooooo, I may have to do this- I run a geek blog, but I'm sure I can make an appropriate post every Friday for this!

For what it's worth, I didn't sign up for the Facebook part. I don't think that's obligatory. (I have a Facebook account; I just don't like using it.)

I've done two posts so far: A is for Akhu (http://www.firecat.net/lapis/2012/01/16/a-is-for-akhu/) and A is for Amun-Ra (http://www.firecat.net/lapis/2012/01/21/a-is-for-amun-ra/).

You could go entirely from the main website. I think the project has grown beyond the point where the FB group can link you to everything, so I think it could be skipped at this point.

I would just add my name under the "who's blogging" section of the website, and link any posts under the appropriate week on   this page. (http://paganblogproject.com/)

So it is possible to enter your "A" posts under the appropriate week if you're doing a catch-up like I am.

It's wonderful to see a definite Kemetic presence on there. :D

I'm in, too. That's just what I've been looking for to get into something of a regular blogging habit. I'm already planning what I'm going to write about each week. /organising like a boss.

My posts will be up on Per Sebek (http://persebek.posterous.com/). So far, I've done Amun (http://persebek.posterous.com/a-is-for-amun), Ancestors (http://persebek.posterous.com/a-is-for-ancestors), and Book of Shadows (http://persebek.posterous.com/b-is-for-book-of-shadows).

My posts are getting long and rambly though. But that's kind of how I like writing posts like these anyway. I get more out of them.

I'm starting up a Kemetic blog for this, KIN, if its needed), and for Dad (He's insisting... the internet is a good way to Open the Way, I guess.)

  The Opened Way (http://theopenedway.wordpress.com)

Still setting up the site, so forgive the construction, but this is where all my Kemetic themed stuff will be going.  Figured a geek blog didn't really have room for it (as I have a million and a half posts lined up for   Chainsword and Mana Shield (http://chainswordandmanashield.wordpress.com) already.)

I just posted this week's entry: "B is for Belonging".   Please visit my blog (http://open.salon.com/blog/ashem/2012/01/27/b_is_for_belonging)  if you have a few moments!

When I wrote this, I was thinking of the wonderful feeling I get from being part of the House. I'm thankful that I've found a place to belong and a spiritual home.

I guess I'll jump on the Bes bandwagon (http://kemeticrecon.blogspot.com/2012/02/bes-little-god-pagan-blog-project-2012.html)!

One of the things I love about this framework is that it encourages us to write- and think- about topics that we might not otherwise write about.

And if anybody else wants to play, you don't have to play catch-up if you don't want to. Just jump on in!

Yes, I realize that one must be "registered" with Open Salon in order to comment. That was one of the "cons" I considered when deciding where to create my blog. I'm hoping that the mainstream nature of OS will help me find some readers who might not otherwise see my blog. I feel that so often, excellent Pagan type blogs remain unseen by the average reader who might not seek out something on Blogspot. We shall see how this works out and whether or not I choose to remain there.

Thank you, Helmsman, for taking the time to read my essay! I really appreciate it.

My essay for this week is on a rather unusual topic considering it is the Pagan Blog Project. But it's something that has been significant in my life:

  C is for Christ (http://open.salon.com/blog/ashem/2012/02/03/c_is_for_christ_-_part_one)

Thanks to everyone who is participating, as writers or readers, and making this happen!

This week, I've written about my relationship with Sobek and Heru-sa-Aset and how I can't have one without the other anymore.

If you follow my Dreamwidth journal, you've probably read half of this already, but I felt it time to go over this all again because it would be remiss of me not to talk about Them together as well as separately. That, and I finally feel ready to talk about this more publicly since things have begun to fall into place and Make Sense to me at last.

C is for Celestial Twins, or On the Matter of Sobek and Heru-sa-Aset (http://persebek.posterous.com/c-is-for-celestial-twins)

It's pretty much all my own UPG. It's also 5,000+ words long. Yeah. :D

I'm seriously thinking about spending the whole weekend catching up on this, and doing it via Vlog on YouTube. I just got a really good semi-pro condenser microphone that is just itching to record and it'll be a little easier for me than sitting down and writing 5 blogs in a row xD What do you guys think?

I'm thinking... A for Akhu/Ancestors...
A for Animals...
B for Bast-Mut (of course ;) )...
B for Beginning...
and C for Community.

Yes, no? Want to hear my nice clear crisp voice and see my ugly mug on YouTube? I haven't done any YT videos in forever ;P

Haha, well long story short a long while back I had a YouTube channel (which still exists, btw) called obscurevisions where I talked about Wicca, religion in general, new-agey stuff, my relationship with Peri (which oddly enough started BECAUSE of YouTube) etc. I had a pretty good base of subscribers but when I came to the House I pretty much abandoned it- they even offered me a YT partnership but I didn't bother with it.

Later I opened up my Bastmuttepta channel and made a few KO-related videos, but fell off the bandwagon with that when my 9 to 5 workload started becoming... well, more than a 9 to 5 workload ;P With the PBP, I'm going to use the latter channel and record all the vids tomorrow, hopefully have them posted tomorrow night or Sunday.

It's over at http://www.youtube.com/bastmuttepta .

It wasn't easy to figure out where to put it, because I wanted it in a public area, and not every post people do is going to specifically be about gods. Anyway...

My fourth entry is Bathtime! (http://kemeticrecon.blogspot.com/2012/02/bathtime-pagan-blog-project-2012-4.html) Yay!

It turned out to be a longer one, since I'm trying to write for a general pagan audience.

Not at all!
Either start with the next letter, or start with A, whichever you'd like to do.

When you finish one, be sure to add a link to the appropriate week here. (http://paganblogproject.com/) and add a comment on the bottom.

There's also the facebook page for the project, and you should announce it there.

It's thrilling to see Kemetics making such a big showing in this, with interesting contributions!

Just finished uploading this week's vlog (yes, I'm video-ing these ;P) for the letter C. I picked charity as the topic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNCaZNRlHVA

As many of my videos, this one turns into a bit of a rant about things that bother me. ;P Either way hopefully it'll be mildly informative/entertaining. It's still processing as of me writing this post but should be done by the time most people see this anyway ;P

Edit: I felt it was worth mentioning that, when I said in the video "You don't have to be rich..." I was trying really, REALLY hard... to not follow it with "...to be my girl, you don't have to be cool, to rule my world..." ;) Hehe.

Durga has been very important in my life. I feel She helped lead me to my Mother Sekhmet. Now I consider her something of an aspect of Sekhmet, though I realize this is not Kemetic Orthodox theology per se.

Hm. Nevada went above 100*F on a fairly regular basis in the summer - usually topped out at around 115*F - but I gotta say, Texas is worse. It usually hovers between 98*F and 105*F in the summer, so technically less hot than Nevada (and Arizona), but oh my god the humidity. Everything gets sticky and sweltering and makes breathing difficult. Oi.

At least with a true desert, it cools off significantly at night. Here, it drops maybe 10 degrees, instead of Nevada's usual 30-40* drop. And being in the shade doesn't matter with this kind of humidity, where it does help in the desert... Oh, I could go on.

(I've also been known to nap in a car that's been left in the sun with the windows up on a nice 90*F day, so uh, take my words with a grain of salt. I am always the coldest person in the room and one of the last to be bothered by heat.)

I wish I had your super powers to do that. I've lived both in NV and AZ, and I felt that NV was marginally cooler than AZ, but only by a bit. Here, it go up into the 115-120 range last summer.. and we're lucky if it even gets into the 90's here during the summer :(

I'm a cold climate person. I have always been in the desert, and I don't care for it. I never got why the Egyptians love the sun... cuz I certainly can't stand it.

Course, I have lived in a place that gets pretty humid (OH) and I didn't care for that, either. Sooo.... yeah... thank god for AC.

Whoops - I just realized I've been posting these on my blog without posting about them anywhere else. So here's what I've got so far...

B is for Beautiful (http://sobeq.wordpress.com/2012/01/23/b-is-for-beautiful/)

B is for Brigid (http://sobeq.wordpress.com/2012/01/29/b-is-for-brigid/)

D is for Depth (http://sobeq.wordpress.com/2012/02/17/d-is-for-depth/)

Eventually I'll go back and write my two A posts. Eventually.

I guess I'm another late-comer to the PBP party, but I'm very excited about giving this a shot. I figure while I'm catching up I'll let myself write more than one post a week if I feel so inspired, and simply post here on Fridays with the rest of y'all.

Here's my first go:   A is for Authenticity of Self (http://redheart.dreamwidth.org/5417.html)

One last note: even though I'm on Dreamwidth, I've allowed anonymous commenting, so anyone should be able to post -- just leave your name!

This said, I've also considered starting up a Kemetic Wordpress blog (largely for cross-posting) so you WP folks can join in the discussion sans anonymity. I'd appreciate opinions on whether or not this would be a useful option.

Ekunyi - I would reccommend setting up a Wordpress :) especially for the Pagan Blog Project, I know a few of us are signed up on WP while doing it..I get notifications when they publish, plus its easier for me to follow you that way hehe :D But it's up to you!

Just done my second post,   B is for Bast (http://senkadawn.wordpress.com/2012/05/16/b-is-for-bast/)  Woop, Woop!

Ekunyi- I don't currently read or comment much on your site because it is DW. If it were WP, I would be stalking you like I do most everyone else :P

I personally prefer WP. I have an LJ and a DW that I never update- and I've found that WP has a lot more flexibility and offers more exposure on search engines. So it sorta depends on what you're looking for. I prefer that WP is more like having a website, and it's less like a journal.

I didn't post last week's here, because it was a bit of an 'I have no idea what to write about' sort of post (http://persebek.wordpress.com/2012/07/01/m-is-for-meditation-on-existence/), but this week's is more focused.

This week's post is on my own personal system with regards to the Elements. It's my own UPG, and nothing more, but if anyone gets anything out of it, awesome.

I missed last week's post due to Friday being hectic, and I still haven't finished the post I meant to make. I might change it to another topic, or keep at it. We'll see.

But I managed a post this week! I've written on questioning and doubt (http://persebek.wordpress.com/2012/08/19/q-is-for-questioning-and-doubt/).
