Title: (Repost) Ankh in Chain Maille, and a Request
Post by: Khumekitu on July 27, 2014, 02:56:45 pm
Here are some pics of a Ankh I did in chain maille. I did this years ago, while I was just learning. I'm sorry for the quality of the pics, I took them with my phone's camera. The last picture is just to give you an idea of the size.

Now to what I need help with.

I want to do another piece similar to this one. The only difference? The size. I'd like to do a large piece with a image of the Netjer on it. I'm thinking 4-5 feet in length and 2-3 feet high. It's not for profit, I'm not selling it. I plan on giving it to Hemet (AUS) to do with as she sees fit. I expect it to take about 1000-2000 hours to weave it.

I need people's ideas for images, links to good images of the Netjer, any help at all. It is a large undertaking and any help is appreciated. I hope to hear back from you!

(I have this posted as well in the Private forums, but it was suggested that I post it in the public forums as well! Enjoy!)

Lovely job! As for ideas, I think that whatever you do would be immensely generous. :)

Thanks. :)

I've been turning ideas over in my head and I keep coming back to a couple ideas. A weighing of the Heart ceremony, or Set at the front of the Barq, fighting Apep. Both are going to need a lot of detail. ^_^; I wonder why these images keep occuring to me? (glares at Parents.) I was originally hoping to do a couple images of the Netjer standing together, nothing too fancy, but no. *Pouts*

I'm still working out the details since wth it being this complicated, I can't just 'wing' it like I did with the Ankh. I'll have to draw it out and make up a rough pattern. And I'm deciding if I want to mimic the classic look or do my own take. So I still have a bit to do before I start, but I'm getting closer. ;) I'll update here once I get the design ironed out and if anyone wants to make suggestions, they are more then welcome. :)

So I'm in the final planning phase now (I've been super busy. :( ). And now I'm getting ready to start doing the chain maille itself. And I wanted opinions. Should I work on it while ritually pure or not? If I only work on it while pure it will take a lot longer (but I'd do Senut more often ;) ) and if I work on it while not pure I can work while out, watching TV, etc. So what do you guys think? To be pure or not?

Hotep,

That's very nice!

As for an idea that might be both meaning full and easy, what about the flag glyph for Netjer?  Or, more intricate, the glyphs for the name of The Truth and The Mother Shrine that is in the Temple in Joliet?  From the size you gave, it sounds like something like that should be hung to be truly appreciated.  Perhaps it could be hung somewhere at the temple.

Senebty!
