Em hotep!

I adore Set, so I took a bit of time to write a simple little prayer for you this morning. :)

Hail to you, Set, Lord of Thunder,
Teach me to speak above the chorus of the rain.
Hail you you, Set, Lord of the Red Land,
Teach me to walk through the desert sands instead of crawling on my knees, forever repenting.
Hail to you, Set, the Lord of the Winds,
May you remind me of the necessity of change.
Hail to you, Set, Lord of Life,
May you teach me the ways of living, and love, through mine.

If you would like to learn how to make prayers to Set, even simple ones are easy to make and use. Look at other prayers to inspire you! And looking at a God’s epithets night also help as well.

I hope this helps and that you enjoy this little prayer.

Edit: Also if you are able to obtain a copy, I’d recommend Hemet’s -AUS- Egyptian Prayerbook. It will be under the name Tamara L. Siuda if you are unfamilar. :) There are many prayers for many Names, and much more in there.

Oh I am rather excited about this thread! <3 (And I really love your prayer, Xen!)

I've included a couple of prayers of mine below.

Hail to You, Oh Set!
Strongest of the Netjeru,
Ever-victorious at the prow of the Mandjet.
Grant me your strength, lend me your spear.
As you destroy the great snake
So shall I destroy isfet in my life and the lives of those around me.
I am your child who shouts your name!
Lord of the Northern Skies,
He Who is Great of Battle Cry,
Lend Your voice to mine.
Shout storms of transformation from the heavens.
Chant the change which is necessary if not easy.
Sing strikes of lightning to destroy obstacles.
I hear you and I do not fear.

A blessing on your spear
Oh my Father, Oh my strength
A blessing on your arm
As you fight through night’s length
A blessing on your shout
Oh my Father, Oh my voice
May my words reach your ears and Become

Hail to you Set, Lord of the Oasis!
God of beauty in the midst of desolation,
We wander the desert of personal challenge.
Set, Great of Voice
Call us home again
That we may drink from the pool and be cooled.

Hail to you Set, Lord of the Oasis!
God of mirage and reality,
We view our reflection in your sacred waters.
Set, Great of Magic
Protect us as we search
That we may find what we need within ourselves.

Hail to you Set, Lord of the Oasis!
God of new beginnings,
We look with uncertainty to the horizon.
Set, Great of Strength,
Raise your spear
That we may trust in the dawn of Zep Tepi to always come again.

And I'll just add a link here to a prayer/heka that I wrote for Him five-ish years ago now, and have continued to use every morning since:

Looking forward to seeing what other prayers folks have to share.

Obrigada para começando este tópico, Detetive!

Em hotep!

I have one to share. Set is near and dear to my heart, being my only Beloved.

Set has really come into my life in these past two years...and while I don't have any specific prayers that I've written to him, the Ancient Egyptian Prayer Book by Hemet (AUS) is my go-to source for honoring him.

I will join the Set fan club as well - I think He is amazing!  Of course, I am a bit biassed as he is my beloved. :)

I tend to be rather informal in my interactions with Them and, aside from Senut, I very rarely do an organized prayer for any of them unless it is part of a festival or something else formal.  Typically for daily interaction, I simply say their name/s and then speak from the heart.  This feels much more personal to me, and I feel like it really comes from me directly, versus something I've recited that someone else has written.  So far, there seems to be no objections.  I haven't written down any of them, but I have thought about it.  I could create my own devotion book!

I recently welcomed Set and Heru wer into my Netjer Family as Beloveds. Thank you all so much for these!

There is a nice prayer/ceremony to Set in the "Eternal Egypt" book by Reidy.  I feel it seems to honor Set well.

No worries.  I personally feel a deep connection to Set.  I keep a statue in my bedroom so he is the first I see daily to help remind me to keep strong.  It makes me happy seeing others having similar appreciations for Set.   :)

I haven't seen this thread 'til now. :3

I have some prayers and heka I've written for/about Set, for different situations.

This first sampling is a bedtime prayer to/heka of Set:

Hy stX hkA n grh ii m grh
nb rswt
wr-xrp srxw-nb
mki=k [NN] ms=k mr.s=k mr=k sy

Hy Set! Heka en Gereh ii em gereh
Neb Resut
Wer-Kherep serekhu-neb
Meki-ek [NN] mes-ek meres-ek mer-ek sy.

Hail, Set! Lord of Night [Who] comes in the night
Lord of Dream/Awakening [rswt is a reflexive term in this way]
Great Controller of every evil spirit
You protect [insert name here], Your child who loves You as You love her/them.

(I used the most gender-neutral terms and enclitic pronouns possible -- inasmuch as this is AT ALL possible within any Afro-Asiatic language, but if anybody hates the feminine enclitic pronouns and the word "ms," there's always .f in place of .s, sw in place of sy, and "sA" for "son" instead of "ms" for "child [generic]").

This second sampling is a short prayer of adulation (in the indirect second person) to Set as Self-Created Solar Divinity and Lord-of-All, with Nut here being the "His Mother" to Set's "Bull of":

dwA stX
sA nwt
ir sw m xt n nwt m ms.n=f Dt=s
sXm hr spd
ntf api-wr Xnty nwt
nD-n=f pt tA mi qd sn
Dr wbn=f m nwn imi qAyt
ntf pHrr pHrr sw r nhh n ab.n psD ra-nb
HqA n =f hhw n hhw nswi=f Hnty nhh
mnX=f r mnX.t nb

Dua Set
Sa Nut
ir Su em khet en Nut em mesnef djetes
Sekhem her Sopd
Netef Api-Wer khenti Nut
nedjenef pet ta mi qed sen
djer webenef em Nun imi qayt
Netef Pehrer pehrer Su er neheh en abn pesedj ra-neb!
Heqa en ef hehu en hehu neswief henty neheh
menekhef er menekhet-neb!

Praise Set
Son of Nut
Who put Himself into the womb of Nut and birthed Himself from Her body [djet = lit. "living image; bodily form"]
Powerful and Skilled,
He is the Great Winged Scarab [lit. "Great Flying One"] within Nut
Who protected Heaven and Earth in their entirety
while rising from Nun within the Primaeval Mound [lit. "high throne; high ground"]
He is the Runner Who runs eternally, shining every day without cease!
He has been Ruler of millions and millions
and He shall rule [unto] the limits of eternity
His efficacy being superior to any efficacy!

(I have several more, but I don't want this comment to be a million years long, haha. ;D )
