Title: Beginners class?
Post by: Mr awesome357 on June 15, 2019, 11:04:10 am
I was wondering when invites will go out for the beginners class. I'm getting nervous and want to properly get into my faith and don't want to miss out on an opportunity to learn. I hope I will be able to serve my Heru properly.

The wait tends to always be the hardest part LOL.
As far as I remember, for my beginners class, invites were sent out right before the date class was set to start.

Unfortunately Hemet had a few emergencies that kept her from finishing going through all the applications. She will be doing that as soon as she can.

Part of the beginners class is setting aside any preconceived ideas of what gods you connect to and opening yourself up to them all.  You’re asked to put aside any shrines you have now and have a blank one where you open yourself to new possibilities and relationships.

It’s actually a pretty cool experience and the gods people served before finding the House are often still the main ones once coming out the other side, but having said that why not spend the time waiting for the class enjoying your time with Heru?

The course doesn’t teach you how to serve Heru.  It teaches you how to be Kemetic Orthodox.  You don’t need to be Kemetic Orthodox to serve Heru. Taking the time to hang out here and deciding if we’re even a group of people you want to associate with has value.

Taji

i'm sorry I was trying to make a joke but it was in bad taste. I'm really sorry,  :-[

I need to give credit to the other gods who have visited me too. I have been giving too much to Heru I think and I guess this will help me learn, and I really need to listen to his advice: "Be patient, I know you want to connect to us but give it time. I brought you to this community to help you learn about all of us and share your respects equally."
And I can be really hard headed and stubborn sometimes but I am really sorry about that joke, I sometimes don't think when I get too exited.

It’s okay to be excited.  I think all of us have been there at one point or another.  <3

I'm eagerly awaiting notification if I've been accepted or not too, you're not alone :)

A note: patience with receiving confirmation will help you lol - i know when I was waiting for mine it took a good while, and I was very nervous I’d been rejected - so don’t freak out if it seems you’ve been overlooked. They’re pretty good about getting to everyone! It may take up to juuuuust before the class starts to get an email on it. If class starts and you haven’t gotten an email, then I’d recommend emailing one of the revs who teaches. ^^

And definitely praying Hemet is okay, goodness 😰

I just recently graduated, when I applied it took a few weeks to receive my notification. I had also worried I had not been accepted, but had to learn patience is key

when do the actual classes start? I need to know in case I don't get emailed by then so I can ask a mod or whoever does the classes if I was rejected or if there was a delay in mailing.

Em hotep,

As Rev. Ibi noted above, Rev. Siuda experienced delays in finishing up the review before beginner's class. She is also only working 8 hours per week for the temple during the month of June. Start dates for beginner's class are seldom set in stone and there will hopefully be a public post when the invitations go out.

Hemet's current email auto-response says, "Class 54 application review is in process and is delayed. We hope to have all applications responded to by June 21. Class will not begin until after each applicant has a chance to respond to invitations, and probably not until after July 5. Please do not send emails inquiring about your application unless you do not hear from us by June 30. There are more than 100 applicants for Class 54 and we want to process you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience as we catch up."

Is this going to be something that i have to be dedicated to? And is it possible to fail? Im afraid of failing at serving my gods, and I don't want to fail them.

Em hotep, friend

What do you mean by “fail”?

is it like a test? or just a learning experience to help me understand the kemetic religion. I want to serve my gods for how they have helped me.

I've never heard of anyone failing the beginners class. There are some quizzes to take, but as long as you've done the reading material provided in the lessons you should be fine. Just do your best and pay attention to the class and to the lessons within it

I also had anxiety about whether or not it was possible to fail the beginners class, but it worked out well  :)

Gotcha. I didnt read the material of the entire class 52 and didnt take the quizzes...So I personally ask for Hemet to take the class 53 and She happily agreeded. So I think its about your growth more than be availed by someone else.
I wish you a great time on your class. Enjoy the knowledge! :D

Em hotep,

I would definitely say it takes some level of dedication, as does serving Netjer. But it isn’t horrifically time consuming, or akin to being in high school - there isn’t hours of homework hah - just reading material and small assignments.

It’s mainly to teach you about Kemetic Orthodoxy and our practices and general beliefs. Being part of any temple requires some level of dedication, though how much is dependent on you and what you’re hoping to achieve/how involved you wish to be/what your needs are.

Hope y’all enjoy the class! And don’t be afraid to ask questions - the reverends teaching it are all wonderful people!

Senebty,
Taswau
