Hello! Loooooong time lurker. Like. Eight to ten years lurking. Really, very dedicated lurking.

Big Backstory Hours:
I was interested in the Egyptian names when I learned what Wicca was, but it was suggested I stick with Celtic deities due to my heritage. And also I saw Aset once and she was very big and big is spooky. So I set that aside for a few years until I found you guys, and set myself to learning about Kemetic faith since. Mafdet, of all names, kind of led me into actually practicing, and then Heru-Wer let himself in.

I realized a few years ago I exclusively thought of the world through a Kemetic framework, so I committed to it. These days Heru-Wer and alternating lionesses (Tefnut, Sekhmet, Sekhmet-Mut etc.) make their home in my home, and I'm also a big fan of Nut (obviously. big sky mom, she is beautiful, look at her!!). I may have promised to try and talk to Aset more this year on her birthday. I'm finally making an account here because I've come to understand that community is a large part of Kemetic practice. I want to try to overcome my hesitance to reach out to others about religion, after so many years solitary.
/Big Backstory Hours

I sing, make art (including Kemetic art *finger guns*), read tarot, etc. I've also been to the British Museum, Petrie Museum, and the Met, so if there's something you've heard about and would like a closer look, I may have a picture of it. Also, I once saw a statue of a funky dwarf-jackal jet-skiing on crocodiles. If anyone knows what's up with that, hit me up.

PS I saw a car in DE while passing through once with a Dua Anpu license plate. If that was one of you, just know it made my week.

Em hotep and welcome!

I too lurked for many years, until I got a bit "courageous", :)

I too have loved my museum visits.  Do you have a website in which you share your photos?

May you enjoy your explorations here!

Senebty,
Neheh...

I do not have a website, although I've been meaning to kind of gather related photos and maybe post them on my Kemetic tumblr at some point (@swiftofmafdet).

Yes, seeing the world through a Kemetic framework... I know that one.
Sometimes people may look at you strange,  when you answer an either/or question with "both, naturally" once again...
But for me, it is the spiritual and ethical framework that finally made sense to both my brain and my heart.

Jet-skiing on crocodiles? Likes this one?

The "Standing on crocodiles" is typical for cippi - magical statues for healing and protection. Usually it's Heru as a child, but there are variations showing Bes.
This is the first time I see a jackal- headed figure in this role, though

Absolutely the ethics too. I found myself thinking of things through metaphors and explanations of Ma'at so why not stay there.

Also yes!!! Exactly like that! Although a bit smaller and less refined (I was going to include a pic but I see tinypic is gone), but that checks out as a bit of household protective magic. That's interesting! The one I saw was noted to have a falcon tail, which it looks like you can kind of see there too, so I guess there's something of a connection to Heru. (Or as I saw bigbadjackal posting about the other day the habit of eliding falcons and jackals together. guess this is a landfalcon.)
