Title: Hello!
Post by: Rana on August 29, 2020, 08:18:40 pm
Greetings! Call me Rana. I've signed up for the next beginner's class, and in the vein of dress for the job you want, not the job you have, I've signed up to the forums to meet you all while I wait for my acceptance / rejection email!

I have a very panentheistic approach to Netjer, so I have less of a specific connection to this deity or that one, and more of a Set is the thunder, Ra is the sun, Bast is in my cats' purrs and Ausir is the flowers on the pigface outside my window manner of worship. I know that it's not necessarily a typical approach for Kemetics, but it works well for me, especially as, if anything, my practices are actually more centered around ancestor veneration and petition. In fact, the focus on ancestor veneration is one of the primary reasons I was so interested in signing up for the beginner class here!

I'm a home-maker (or house-spouse, if you will) and I help a local producer with their dogs, cattle and sheep four days a fortnight. I'm a staunch advocate for sustainable and local commerce, community education, and animal rescue. There's not a lot makes me happier than curling up in a comfortable chair, cats in my lap (or on my chest, or wedged behind my neck, or headbutting me, or...), and reading a good book. I have two permanent shrines in my house, one for Netjer and one for my ancestors.

Looking forward to spending some time here!

Em hotep, welcome!

We definitely don't judge here the way people connect with Netjer/God, if it works for you, then it works!

When I first came here a long while back, I also didn't experience any kind of specific connection to one Deity or another, and it actually took some time after I was divined (because it was a total surprise seeing as I had no previous inkling of Who might be my Parent/patron Deity) to really make that connection, but once I did, life changed in ways I never could have imagined. So I always say, keep an open mind, you never know what life has in store for you, particularly when the Gods are involved! But at the end of the day, you do you, and what works, works! :)

Welcome Rana!

Everyone connects to the gods in different ways, so don't feel like you are any different from everyone else. I've been here almost 20 years, and I have a similar way of finding Them to what you mentioned!

Welcome to the House, Rana.  I also experience the Names in much the same way.   The Gods come to each of us as They will it.

Enjoy your time in the Beginner's class :)
