Title: New here.
Post by: CaitSith on April 26, 2021, 01:37:20 am
Hello everyone 💜

I'm Cait, and I've recently enrolled myself for the 60th beginner's course. I'm a nonreligious witch, but I feel a certain 'pull' in my core to change that. I've loved Egypt since childhood, especially Bast.

I wouldn't say that I have any particular affinity with or calling towards one god or another, but I do tend towards certain themes: magic, movement, archery, moonlight, protection, growth, and the ocean.

I don't know what will come of my joining this course, but I do know my goals: community, spiritual growth, structure, and a sense of belonging. I'm looking, I think, for a found family ― be it the Kemetic pantheon, or the people who venerate Them.

Warmest wishes for now,
Cait ― 💜

Em hotep.

Welcome.

Bast has a history of bringing people to the House.

There are Names associated with a number of your themes if you want to try and meet some before the beginners course.

Em hotep Cait!

I hope you enjoy the beginner's course!
I came to the House for similar reasons - I was a solitary witch (still am, in a way) brought here by Sekhmet to find a community, and a family. I definitely found that here, may you also find what you seek!

Senebty,
Benerwy

Em Hotep, Cait!!

Bast led me here too, alongside my best friend, and I’ve made so many new friends here as well! It’s a wonderful community that has much to offer, and I hope that you are able to find a place that is yours as well <3

If you’re ever wanting to learn more about Bast (or Bast-Mut for me :3) I’m here!

Warmest of welcomes,
Uneb ~

Demaimuti ― Is that so? Well, after all, I think we'd all follow a cunning and magical feline, when given the choice!

Benerwy ― Thank you! 💜 I hope I can find my place here, too.

Taswauyinepu ― Thank you, I hope so, too!

Amunraembia ― Thank you! I know it seems like I'm repeating myself, but you're all being so kind.

Rev. Tawa'u ― Thank you! It's wonderful to meet you, too.

Shediwi-Itw ― Thank you!

Unebenbastmut ― It's wonderful to hear so many great testimonials about all of you finding a place here! 💜 I definitely always want to learn more about Bast ― I adore Her! (though I think it's very much a secular adoration) Is Bast-Mut very different to Bast? This is the first place I've ever heard of Her using that name.

Sobekherkhepeshef ― Thank you, fellow purple heart emoji connoisseur! 💜

Senneferet ― Well then, it's lovely to meet you for now, and I'll be looking for you when the course begins!

Yinepuemsaes ― It's great meeting you, too!

Em hotep and welcome, Cait!

I hope you enjoy being here, and find what you are looking for. Like many others have mentioned, I have personally found both human family and divine family here. ❤

Welcome, I hope you find what you are looking for, whether here or elsewhere.

As for Bast-Mut and Bast... that's a total yesno! Bast-Mut is Bast as Queen. They are both Bast, but at the same time They are totally different.

Bast-Mut is regal in all that she does. She still has the playful side of Bast, and enjoys watching Her kittens play, but She is not in the middle of the pile luxuriating in the play, She is a slight step removed.

Bast is a protector, a slayer of evil (look at Her sharp claws and ferocious hunting capability). Bast-Mut is more likely to strategize, organize, and send out the troops to do the deeds. That is not to say Bast-Mut can't get Her claws dirty, cause She can and does...

All of the above (and so much more) is my way of saying yes, Bast and Bast-Mut are the same deity, and no, they are quite different, all at the same time! You may have heard of the term polyvalent? It means that two (or more) different truths at the same time are both right. This is a huge part of thinking like a Kemetic. Another example is our creation myths, where we have very different stories about the creation of the world and Gods and humans, and they are all true!

Ok, that was probably more than you wanted, but, again, welcome!

Wow! You're a truly welcoming community! 💜

Beck88 ― Thank you! I'm looking forward to it!

Senuwierneheh ― Thank you! 💜

Zuzana 25 ―  I hope you're having fun!

Qenebty ―  Thank you! Each positive testimonial is really reaffirming my faith in my decision to take this course!

Padjaiemweru ― First of all... Wow! Thank you for your warm and detailed welcome! I have indeed heard of polyvalence, that most accursed of logic forms! I think that I understand what you're saying ― and though I can't say that I've ever experienced deity personally, I can definitely say that my "mental image" of Bast lines up quite well with what you're telling me of Bast-Mut. All this to say that I'm going to really enjoy diving into all of the (Unebenbastmut tells me they're called) synchs that you use here. Again, thank you so much for this long and unexpected reply about Bast-Mut! 💜

Rev. Shezatwepwawet ― Thank you!

Khesretitui ― Thank you!
