Title: Em hotep!
Post by: hagalaz821 on August 05, 2021, 07:35:36 pm
Em hotep to all! I discovered Kemetic Orthodoxy a year ago and signed up for the August Beginner's Class. I have been an eclectic pagan most of my life (prior to that I was a young Egyptology buff) but had experiences with Set and Bast during childhood. In the past I have fluctuated between Asatru and Kemetic paganism. I feel I've reached the point where being an independent practitioner is not longer viable. I've spent some time in a KO Facebook group and I'm getting a strong sense that KO is a good fit for me.

Set has been an initiatory force throughout my life. He's very kind and has a relatable sense of humor. I've considered Him to be a teacher and parent for most of my life. I find His storms comforting, like a brief lull from the chaos of our lives. Bast is very loving. She has comforted me during difficult times. I recently started working with Sekhmet as well. I find Her to be very relatable in Her capacity as a healer. I've often admired Aset, Djehuty and Yinepu but have only once been in a situation to call upon the latter.

Thank you for having me here! I'm very glad to be here and look forward to taking the class!

Em hotep and welcome! I also have Heathen type practices in my life along with Kemetic.

Thank you! I've found that the two practices overlap in interesting ways. My perception of Set isn't altogether different from that of Woden.

Em hotep and welcome!

Set's been an "initiatory force" ever since I first encountered Him, encouraging me to a lot of growth!

May you find your explorations rewarding!

Em hotep, and welcome!

I too practice interfaith with Heathenry and Kemetic Orthodoxy. I have found that both paths work very well together and that the deities in both seem to communicate really well. :)

I wish you the very best in your journey in the House and let me know if you need anything. :)

Cheers,

Nedjneb

Thank you everyone!

Nedjneb, I'm happy to find others like myself. I've noticed over the years that the greater my understanding gained through Asatru and runecasting, the more I came to understand and appreciate the Netjer and Kemetic cosmology. They seem to reinforce one another.

Em Hotep!

I have been Heathen since 97 and have also stumbled onto KO.  Though I am familiar with Set already being a past adept in the Temple of Set many years ago.

Hi! I'm completely new to KO but am so ready to begin practicing! How does a neophyte learn to properly practice? I'd created an altar before I even knew anything about senut and essentially set up a shrine to the ancestors well before learning anything about anku; only took a couple modifications to make for a proper shrine, in my opinion. Any guidance is appreciated!

Em hotep, oFascio!

I would suggest making a new thread to ask those questions. :) That way people are more likely to see it and respond. We love questions here.
