A good longjing is suuuuper to die for. I feel the same way about jin xuan (milk oolong). So much garbage, but the treasure remains...

I've yet to try milk oolong, but I'm dying to! Do you have one you'd recommend?

I definitely know what you mean! I work in education and I love my job, but some days I am so frustrated I want to cry. It’s a balance, like most things XD

I’ve never heard of Marlon James. Recommend a book? I love new obsessions :p I think my genre preference is pretty close to yours! I might once in awhile swap fantasy and sci-if though.

Hm, I’ve never heard of longjing. Why is it a holy grail? Hard to find?

Longjing is also called dragon well, and I'm still looking for my holy grail because it can be really hit and miss - the quality between brands varies enormously, and it can make one dragon well taste totally different from another. Blech.

James actually won a Man Booker prize for his novel, A Brief History of Seven Killings. If you like Jamaica, the 70's and drug cartels, I'd recommend that. If you like slave uprisings and a bit of witchery, I'd recommend The Book Of Night Women. If you like religious and sexual hysteria, then it's John Crow's Devil. He's also releasing a fantasy book soon - Black Leopard, Red Wolf.

Oh my gosh -- you folk are too kind! Ibi, I may take you up on the offer to talk about Hethert; she's pretty great.

Shu: You know how they say that if you love your job, you don't work a day in your life? Well, it's not true  :P But I do love it! I'm pretty eclectic as far as books are concerned, but my top genres are definitely, in order, horror, sci-fi, fantasy and romance. My favourite author is Marlon James... who, incidentally, doesn't write any of those genres! (Yet... he's releasing a fantasy book this year. I'm excited!) As for tea? I can't deny a good cup of Irish Breakfast, and I'm also partial to a good lapsang souchong. I'm still seeking my longjing holy grail!

Thank you all for the warm welcome -- you really know how to give a newbie a boost of confidence!

Sedjosry, I'd absolutely love to share some cattle pics with you some time -- anybody who lets me ramble about my girls is a rare blessing!

Hello all!

I've recently applied to the beginner's course, and thought it pertinent to introduce myself here while I await my verdict. I'm... well, I suppose you can call me Witch for now - internet privacy and all!

I live in rural Australia where I tend cattle for a living - they're my favourite animal and bring my heart great joy. In my free time (what's free time?), I enjoy knitting, reading, gardening and tea. I'm drawn to Hethert for bovine-based reasons and Nephthys for *shrug*-based ones. Who knows?

I'm looking forward to hopefully paricipating in the course in February: I haven't made up my mind just yet on how I feel about this whole kemetic thing, but I do believe that community and scholarly pursuit are vital to religion!

(That is what I say -- right?)
