1) I've never seen a religious community that wants you to be independent in order to join.
Currently,I'm not independent so I can't start the beginner class for that and I find it quite silly. I know that it is for legal issues: not all families are good and can understand the choice of their sons. But generally God (or Netjer with its names) matter more then a family I think. It's important not to rift with family..ok.. but if they can't understand they could rift anyway and it's not your fault. It's not fair to give up learning more about kemetic orthodoxy (and maybe can't convert to it) because you aren't independent.

We require a parent or guardian signature on the application form for minors (in the USA, those who are under 18 years of age) as we believe that family is very important and we wish for all persons involved in the care of a young person to be aware of and assist with their choices. If you have further questions regarding consent, you are always welcome to contact either of our beginners class teachers. - Reverend Tanebetheru and Reverend Sedjemes. You may reach them here:

2) Ancestors veneration. Because:

- Not every person has had good ancestors.
- They're human.. and also we don't know if they have passed the test in the Hall of Maat.

We generally believe in honoring our personal ancestors who are related by blood, and some people may also honor ancestors who may not be connected to them by blood. At no time is anyone expected to give veneration to anyone who was unkind to them in life, or someone they do not know. This is a personal choice and you would be able to choose which ancestors you wished to venerate - if any. And veneration is not the same as worship in our context. we simply honor those who came before us and who made our lives possible.
