That’s interesting about Sekhmet, Amarantheia! I wonder if She’ll crop up as I dig deeper into this.

On a more random note, I watch a TV show with my toddler called Tinga Tinga Tales. It’s a cartoon depicting traditional African tales about animals. Why the leopard is spotted, why coyote howls at the moon (he wants moooon honey!). Yesterday’s tale, which came on as I was discussing this thread with my better half, was...can you guess? Why peacock has such a beautiful tail! In the show, it was depicted as a rainbow tail. Very sweet.

So, I actually decided to do some googling and, obviously, things need verifying and/or taking with a pinch of salt. However, I found the following quote very interesting:

“Of all the birds, the peacock most resembles the traditional description of the phoenix. The phoenix is the legendary bird of resurrection that is sacrificed in the fires of life and then rises from the flames out of its own ashes. As a reflection of the phoenix, the peacock was often associated with immortality and re-birth, and considered sacred by many cultures and religions, including the Greek, Egyptian, Chinese, Christian and Hindu.

.....In Egypt the bird was linked to the worship of the sun god, Amon-Ra and associated with the all-seeing eye of Horus.”

I got this off a reflexology site so will look into it further tomorrow. In the meantime, din dins calls me!

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Ra UPG

A few weeks ago, I had an earworm. It was the word iryt. No idea why but I kept saying it over and over to myself. Later in the day I was walking to the shops, when the image of Ra as a huge golden peacock came into my mind. On his tail were all the goddesses who serve as his eyes. I can’t get the image out of my head.

I know that there’s no historical link between Ra and peacocks but has anyone else made this connection? Ive no idea what it means but I’m sure it will become clear eventually.

Fantastic reply ^^ Padjaiemweru! I often forget patience is usually the best remedy. I have been floating around these boards for over twelve years and have had to dismantle my shrine numerous times. I’d say it hasn’t had much of a negative impact on my journey.

I'm not a member of the house and so do not speak for them. I did notice that you say your parents live with you. Do you own the home your are living in or are at least responsible for paying rent?
If yes, then surely your parents should respect your religious choices (mental health problems or no - I have had trouble as well). If they are under your roof then they should abide by your rules?
I'm probably opening up a huge can of worms for you here. It's just that I had parents who disrespected my choices and my rules even once I had moved into my own home. It's very frustrating to have to dance to other peoples tune, especially regarding something as important as your spiritual path.

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Re: Offerings for Djehuty
« on: November 03, 2020, 08:15:50 am »
I’ve only had one experience with Djehuty that I’m aware of. One day I was making a cup of tea (it was either chai or Earl Grey) and I got the urge to offer Him some chocolate Bourbon biscuits. I figured getting two out wouldn’t hurt my “diet”, one for Djehuty and one for me. As I pulled the packet out of the cupboard a biscuit fell out and broke in half. I then heard a voice in my head that I’d not heard before (ie, not my inner voice) say “that’s yours then”. Djehuty clearly wanted an unbroken biccie!

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Re: Hey!
« on: October 16, 2020, 03:49:06 am »
Hello and welcome, Max! First off, I’d like to say congratulations on your transition. A close relative of mine has come out as FtM in their late 50s and I have never seen him so happy. It’s never too late to be who you are 💙

I’ve been floating around the forum with one account or another since 07 or 08. Every year I tell myself I will go for the beginners course but, you know, procrastination!

I also dipped into Norse and Hellenic polytheism. I find them both fascinating, and some of the deities even seemed to take an interest in me. Ultimately I was always meant to be with Netjer.

I’m sure you will find many friendly faces here and look forward to chatting with you

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: How do the Names of Netjer Reach Out?
« on: October 16, 2020, 03:44:04 am »
They mostly reach out in dreams to me. Well, interrupting dreams with whatever it is They have to say and then letting me get on with whatever randomness is in my head that night!

I have physically felt Nut. I was at work many years ago and felt her wings around me. They were like velvet and so warm. Very peculiar experience.

I have also physically heard Anpu laugh at me, like Muttley. I asked Him if the tough day I was having was a challenge from him and *ha ha ha* came from somewhere inside the (empty of the living except me) funeral home I worked in.

Oh gosh, I know all about the lurking. I think I’ve been floating round these boards since 2007 (albeit with a different account back then). I’m still contemplating taking the beginners course and RPD but want to make absolutely sure I’m doing it for the right reasons, not out of some curiosity as to my line up.

Hello, it says there’s an important announcement regarding applications to the house but the link seems to be broken.

I’m going to *bump* this thread as I am also keen on hearing the answers. Last night, I dreamt that Bestekeni messaged me to tell me I needed Bes in my life. I also like hearing peoples UPG stories!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Bad dreams
« on: October 03, 2019, 03:22:05 pm »
Thank you all for your advice and support, I always feel at home here :)

Seshenyra: it’s funny you mention post partum anxiety. I’ve had another low day of tears today and couldn’t work out if my old depression had reared it’s head, if it’s S.A.D., or baby blues. Time for a trip to the doctors.

In brighter news, husband is taking baby to a dads group on Saturday so I’ve got a few hours to myself. Going to clean shrine and have some time with Them

My brain does have an unfortunate habit of picking things that I worry about and blowing them out of proportion. I’ve been in a self imposed fallow time following the birth of my daughter and have been worrying about it.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Bad dreams
« on: October 03, 2019, 09:55:08 am »
I suffer from really bad nightmares and have had a string of them recently. A few nights ago I dreamed I was thinking of applying for the beginners class (I’ve been pondering it for twelve years actually!) and decided to get a divination done to help me decide. The person said I was “not welcome on this path” and then I woke up.

I felt very sad, like Netjer had told me to P off basically. My husband then woke up and said he’d had a strange dream - he almost never remembers his dreams - where I was being painted blue “like in avatar but with gold stars all over you”.

Now I’m stumped. I’m hoping my dream was just a bad dream. Does anyone else have these sort of dreams and it turns out ok? Do you think my husbands dream is relevant with it’s Nut imagery?
