Prayers. May they be justified and shine forever in the vault of Nut.

Prayers. This sounds like such a terrible time for both of you. I will keep her in my thoughts.

Hotep everyone!

Hopefully at least a few of you remember me; it feels like I've been gone for a looong time. The good news is: I graduated from university! Yay! The bad news is, my religious practice has completely lapsed. I haven't done Senut in... longer than I want to talk about. Months, at least. I actually forgot about Wep Ronpet until it was already over. I feel like I've been really spiritually starved for a while now, which has only made things harder: I'm still reeling from the monumental change that is (finally) graduating college and moving on to the next thing... as well as the anxiety that is not quite knowing what the next thing is yet.

I'm ready to start once again fulfilling the promise I made to my Mothers when I took my Shemsu vows. I've started reading The Search for God in Ancient Egypt by Jan Assmann and thinking seriously about my gods again, and that already has me feeling more centered. My shrine area is a mess, but I'm hoping to clean it up in the next couple of days, so I can start doing Senut again (aaah, I'm scared of going back!). I want to get involved, more consistently than before.

So that's where I am right now. Hope everyone here is well, and I'll be seeing you around.  :)

Update: As Rev. Daryt observed, yes, she has contacted family and is returning home. Thank you all so much for your prayers. My friend is so relieved and thankful.

So, I've been gone for a while! Life got very busy, but I hope to make a return soon.

Right now, however, a close friend of mine has a cousin who has gone missing in Idaho (the Idaho Falls area). Here are some social media links with more information and pictures for anyone who lives in the area or has friends who do:

She is 14, has been missing for over a day now, and has a history of self-harm. It is not known what she was wearing when she disappeared. Please pray for her to be found safely, and share these links with anyone you know who lives in the area. I'm praying as well. Serqet, my Mother, please protect this child and see her safely home.

Almost all of my gods, barring Sekhmet and Wepwawet, can probably be considered odd gods. Nebt-het is fairly well-known but doesn't have a ton of children; Hethert-Nut is gaining popularity but still doesn't have many children, either. (*waves to Ha'aut*) Ma'ahes is lesser-known.

I also work with Sepa semi-regularly, and Wadjet, and Anhur, and Ptah (Whom I completely adore, and those who've said He's calm and steady and wonderful are absolutely right). Ptah is sort of the unofficial household god, since my partner and I are both writers and makers.

I've touched on Nehebkau briefly before - I have an enormous fondness for all the snake deities - and Renenutet and Wosret/Wesret. I also have a small relationship with Heh, Khepera, and Twtw.

Honestly, if it's a little-known god, I'm probably all excited about learning more and saying hi. >_>

*waves back!!!*

Gosh, I didn't even think of Hethert-Nut. She's so overwhelmingly HUGE the way I experience Her that it didn't occur to me that, well, yes, She definitely is one of the lesser known Hethert syncretisms.

I also realized that I forgot to mention Iah (who is to the moon disc what Aten is to the sun disc... only without the historical political baggage, I suppose). For some reason I've never been able to connect with any of the other moon gods, but I say hello to Iah any time I see him in the sky.

I am the only person so far to have been divined with Nehebkau in my RPD lineup, and I've never met anyone else who has a relationship with Him.

That's not too surprising to me, since He is a very quiet and subtle Name, and can be hard to get to know. But He's also such a... relevant god; no other god that I know of is so intimately associated with the concept of the Ka and one's life path and purpose. I hope that in the coming years He attracts more devotees.

I have a relationship with Nehebkau in my Necromancy practice. I agree with your statements regarding Him.

Good to know He's getting some attention from someone other than me! He's really a fascinating figure.

Em hotep, welcome back! I don't think I ever spoke to you directly, but I remember seeing your posts around way back when I was a Beginner. (And as someone who also disappears for months at a time because life, I empathize.)

Oh, okay. You might want to check your email and see if there's something about joining as a Remetj then! You're not listed as one right now.

Ooh, congrats. Great timing, too, with the new year approaching.

I'm not an expert on the new year and am still figuring out my own plans, so I won't try to advise on that front--I'm sure you'll hear from some others!

But I do recommend taking the beginners class in future if you want better access to the forums. There are forums here that are restricted to Remetj and Shemsu, and there's a bunch of Wep Ronpet info available on those areas of the site. Becoming a Remetj doesn't require any special commitment to the House or anything, it just means you've taken the class and have decided to stay on as a community member.

I know there is a procedure for decommissioning objects from your shrine. I believe it involves leaving it sitting in sunlight for three days. I'm away from my shrine cabinet right now, but if you have the Ancient Egyptian Prayerbook, I think it's in there. I can grab the details for you later if you don't have access to it!

I'd like to see someone like Serquet or Sekhmet have their year.

Em hotep Meres!

I love Mom to death, but after this year I'd really like not to have a Serqet year. (Unless I get to get away with all the stuff because I'm one of her kids. *glances at Mom* But knowing her and her expectations of me as her child, it might be extra pointy.) Mom's year would be similar to a Set year because she's all about survival and healing. It's not comfortable survival or healing, but it's necessary in that form.

Sekhmet could be a nice year; I think it would be very healing and very much about appropriate action. Possibly similar to Aset's year. A Sekhmet year would be nice I think.

Note: I don't necessarily think the God of the Year has to do with what happens in the year; more that it denotes the challenges and trials we will face in the year. Which is why while I'd love a year of Serqet, I wouldn't relish those challenges and trials.

Em Hotep, Ra'awyserqet.

I think the opposite. I think that a year of Serqet would be good, without many challenges(maybe have more challenges for us, Her children! We know! ;) ) and a Sekhmet year would be hard. Because of their personality and energy. But... Who knows?!  ;D

I think I'm in the same place as Ra'awy on this one! Serqet is a challenger, much more so than my other Mother; my experience has been that She has high expectations of Her followers. I would expect her year to be anything but relaxing.

More specifically, due to Her role as remover of poisons, I would expect Her year to be one that focuses on the eradication of toxic influences on our lives. It's something I think about a lot, as for the past few years I have definitely been focused on removing toxic people and influences from my life. It's a necessary process, and one that has been hugely beneficial for me in the long term, but it's also painful and upsetting. I'd expect a Serqet year to contain that same duality: beneficial in the long-term, but painful and upsetting in the moment.

People who have different relationships with Her might experience such a year very differently, of course! But knowing the role She tends to play in my life, I would not be expecting Her year to be a serene one for me.

ETA: Actually, while I'm thinking about my Mothers... a Hethert-Nut year would be ideal for me right now, I think. I could use some of that big-picture cosmic energy!

I am not-so-secretly hoping for a Nehebkau year at some point!
