I commissioned a wooden statue of Amun-Ra from Dennis at Studio Yarinka. http://studio-yarinka.com/ He generally has at least a 6 month waiting list, but you can make payments.

The statue I had done is rather large, but he does smaller ones as well.

Let me know if this link doesn't work: https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/17190685_10154662375088375_8816960449342631637_n.jpg?oh=b4108d3864d78ad4b2625c0d04cab001&oe=5A4EC9C8

Next to my face for size comparision: https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/17098174_10154665728083375_4948108432256416349_n.jpg?oh=e4485b4d09537a9ce93ad77f98788bd5&oe=5A4F978E

Hotep,

IF Bast (or any other deity you serve) does like cannabis (I've never asked) and it is legal to procure it where you live (and you are of age to do so) then you could offer it. However, you would NOT want to go before the gods after smoking it, just as you would not go before the gods drunk, right after smoking a cigarette, or just after having sex. All of these things alter your senses, and potentially block your communication with Them.

This is my opinion and in no way represents the House or any of its other members.

Senebty,

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Apathetic Family
« on: January 02, 2014, 02:38:30 pm »
Em hotep,

That sounds odd to me, but it is what is.

I was just short of 18 when I wanted to enroll in the beginner's class, and definitely financially dependent on my parents. I had my mother type up a short document stating that she was my parent and legal guardian, and as such, formally gave her permission for me to take the class.

If your mother doesn't want to type the document herself, you can do it and as long as she agrees with what you have written and she signs it, that works as well. I'm not certain where it should be mailed currently. According to the application at http://www.kemet.org/apply you must submit written permission.

Senebty!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Religious Pluralism

Em hotep,

If I understand correctly, eclectics tend to mash things together from different cultures. As Kemetic Orthodox, my Father and beloveds come first before any other deities I may pay my respects to. Additionally, we have a different bond with our Nisut(AUS) and each other (for Shemsu-ankh) than others have with their teachers and fellows, as far as I am aware.

Senebty,

Welcome back, Renan!

My Hethert statue moves. I've always attributed this to vibrations (she sits on a small shelf on the wall) but it does creep me out occasionally...especially since she's never fallen off.

I was drawn here because this community in general has a pretty good idea of what they are doing. I stayed because of Amun-Ra.

Em hotep, and welcome!

Don't worry too much about "perfecting" your shrine! Mine has evolved quite a bit in the last decade. If there is something absolutely necessary (or something a deity definitely does NOT want there) They will inform you ;)

Senebty,

(Ps - I don't know where in Texas you are, but if you ever are in the El Paso area there is at least one shemsu there, and three of us 45 minutes north ;) )
