Em hotep!

I have Amun as a Beloved, and He is very much the Hidden One for me!

I say that as even trying to visualise Him, there is never a clear image, like He’s deliberately obscuring himself, it’s almost always faded or fuzzy or just, well, jittery. I can never get a clear focus.

He almost never speaks, either, instead He communicates a lot nonverbally.

I’ve also found that wind, a light breeze, can be something that gives me feelings of Him. It is both there, and not there.

I hope this helps, and senebty,

May Yinepu guide and meet him.

I’m sorry for your loss, and my warmest wishes to you all.

Em hotep!

As with any deity, the most common offering can be one (or more, if you wish) of the following:
- Cool water
- Bread
- Candlelight (an LED candle works just as well)
- Incense/essential oil/flowers - Something that has a smell, pretty much!

For contacting a Name, really it’s just about being respectful - imagine you’re inviting a guest into your home, you’d introduce yourself and be polite. Sometimes it’s as simple as just talking to Them - I’ve found my Parents enjoy it when I just talk to Them throughout my day.

I don’t know a lot about Serqet, my apologies, so I can’t offer anything more specialised.

Em hotep and welcome, Selene!

If ever you’d like to talk about Sobek one day, I always love talking (and gushing) about my Dad.

Warmest wishes,

You won’t require any reading material, as it’s provided for you - however, there are recommended books linked at the end of each lesson.

A ritual called Senut is explained in the class, with the materials you need being covered in the class too.

The majority of the shrines you’ll see around the forums are Senut shrines, but the beginners class says not to focus on any particular Name for now - it just keeps the invitation open to any Name!

I’m curious, are there any particular Netjeru you’ve felt connections with?

Also, to answer your questions:

Yeah, I was initially worried about diving into KO, but now, a few years down the line, it was one of the best choices I’ve made. The Beginners Class made for a great introduction to the faith and their practice,

Before I joined KO, I’d never worked with the Netjeru.
And whilst I didn’t understand why Bast and Sobek stood out to me so much - now I know! And I’m still learning and strengthening my connection with Them.

As for getting a connection/invitation to talk going, a glass of cool water never goes wrong! It’s like getting to know someone new, or inviting a guest into your home.
(Bearing in mind the beginners class will ask that you don’t focus on any particular Name during the class duration)

Warmest wishes,

If you haven’t already, I do recommend signing up for the next Beginners Class - consider it as an introduction to KO’s foundation and practice.
