Just one I thought of off the top of my head:

Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man (USA)

This one sounds interesting. If I don’t have access through any orgs, I might subscribe. $40 isn’t bad.

Looks like Mar 2018 and previous are not paywalled if anyone’s interested. I didn’t check every single one but at least some are fully open access.

Thanks for sharing, Redi. I enjoyed reading it... I felt like I was in the scene, if you will. If I’d had a ride like yours around when I was kid I would have been on it all the time.

Not to take anything away from your story but I think many here will be able to relate. Yinepu is fond of bringing people to the House, particularly his own children.

Not sure if you’re new, but if so welcome!

I’ve been there myself Khenment. Be good to yourself. You’ll get through this and you’re not alone.

I love reading about how others see the various Names and I think you all described them so eloquently.

I really wanted to respond to this when I first read it but I feel like I don’t always articulate my thoughts well so I kinda mulled it over and now I want to share my thoughts about Nekhbet. I might add some later and maybe I’ll write about Yinepu at another time but Nekhbet doesn’t get much attention on the boards so here we go.

Nekhbet has a very regal air. She’s diplomatic and thoughtful. I think of her as something of a wise advisor. It’s the kind of energy that I associated with an « old soul ».

Nekhbet likes beautiful things but things that I would call more of a timeless beauty, if that makes sense. She loves beautiful scents, art, etc. She’s warm and sensuality.

Nekhbet is also fierce. Truly a bada$$. She wouldn’t shy from battle but wouldn’t take a side lightly.  The decision to go on the offensive would be made judiciously. She would be a skilled martial artist if she were among us. She’s powerful but wields that power with great care. She appreciates the dedication and discipline it takes to become proficient in something.

Thinking of Nekhbet, I think of good, single malt Scotch, old libraries with beautiful leather bound books, literature, poetry, lotuses, oranges, ylang ylang, a warm summer day.

I feel there’s a lot of balance between Yinepu and Nekhbet. They are similar in some regards and complementary in others.

Nofret Hathor... I love that you bellydance. I took lessons many years ago, oddly enough (or maybe not) they were taught by someone who had been a Shemsu here. I think honoring Netjer through dance is a lovely sort of a offering. And it’s a lot of fun. I’d love to pick it back up but I don’t think there are any classes around me anymore.

Welcome.

The tomb of Seti I would be high on my list. I’ve always been enamored with his beautiful tomb and to see it in person would be amazing. Whenever I get the chance to be near Egyptian antiquities I feel such awe and could look at them forever.

It just occurred to me that it’s very jackal like of me to want to visit a tomb.

Welcome back Emiti!

I joined in 2002 and have been sort of wandering for quite some time, too. Never formally leaving the house but never around for long periods, either. Yinepu also likes to round His kids up.  :) I won’t say I’m back for good but I’m here for awhile.

There’s a reading list on Kemet.org, under resources. I remember Daily Life of the Egyptian Gods was one I read early on and really enjoyed. I’m re-reading Egyptian Religion now and I saw Conceptions of God in Ancient Egypt around here the other day and have been meaning to find it... that’s another good one.

For general history... years ago I also got the Ancient Egyptian course of The Great Courses CDs from the library and I enjoyed that too. If your library offers Kanopy, you can watch them there for free.

For me, it’s been Yinepu since I was young, honestly... elementary school age when I fell in love with Egypt.

Nekhbet, some time later.

For a short period when I first found the HoN, I felt a bit of a connection with Set but otherwise, for the last 18 yrs that I’ve been around here, it’s been Yinepu (never Wepwawet) and Nekhbet.

Hotep Fauemamunra... it does look like there's a lot to catch up on. I've just come back myself and am getting my bearings. Welcome back.

Hi Kathleen ... I'm around again after a lengthy absence, too. I get a very clear push to return every so often. Welcome back. I hope you find what you need.

Sah.... I remember your lovely statues but for some reason never purchased one. Please post if you offer them for sale again. I don't check in very often but hopefully I'll see it. :)
