Our total for the month of April so far is:

         $1,571.28

That leaves us with only

            $428.72

to go to reach our goal of $2,000!

We can do this people. Remember if we do not, we cannot pay Hemet $1,000. The special donations made the last three months will not be done again.

Per Hemet's agreement with us in October, if we cannot pay her $1,000 for three days, we pay her $500 for two.

If you have been following the posts on this board, you know that things that are currently happening will no longer happen.

Per the agreement, here is what we "get" for $500: working 16 hours per week, specifically a full day each on Wednesdays and Fridays. No guarantee of being able to attend Retreat or other events if I have conflicts with paid work.

All we need is another $430 people. Please think about whether you can give a little more.

Thank you.

[PUBLIC] Fundraising Announcements / Creators Who Donate...
« on: April 22, 2019, 01:58:18 pm »
Another way you can see that funds are donated to the House is to buy things from people who donate. There are various crafts and services available for a donation to the House. One is absolutely marvelous handmade soap. We all need soap, I think?

Here are some examples:
  • Khai and Djedet of Kentaurus Design are happy to offer a 15% tithe of all sales to HoN members. This is from sales of sistra, adzes, naoi, and plaques. House members also get free shipping on any order over $50. Each item is hand crafted, ritually pure, and made from responsibly sourced materials.
  • Tatuayinepu has a store called Anubeion Creations where she sells her creations of oils, incense, powders, and painted scarab amulets. Those who are members of the House of Netjer receive a 10% discount on purchases. In addition, she also has a monthly offering of an oil for a Name where all the funds except for shipping go to the House of Netjer. (And they can be ritually pure if needed. Her Hethert oil is perfect for my State shrine.)
  • Tawa’ubastmut offers Tarot and Oracle readings as well as Reiki Healing. Guidance and healing for a minimum of a $5 donation to the House.
  • Yinepuseshmui makes amazingly scented goat milk soap. You can find it on White Raven Apothecary on Etsy. The soap is long lasting, and the scents last the life of the bar. Seshmui donates $25 of their limited income from the profits of these soaps.

There are more besides these. Member can see these in the Member Marketplace board on the Forums. For anyone not a member a private message to these people will certainly get you information.

Thank you for thinking about these things!

[PUBLIC] Fundraising Announcements / How Much Time Does an RPD Take?
« on: April 21, 2019, 07:10:32 pm »
Here is another in the "How long does it take" series:

Those of us who have experienced an RPD know of the time we put into the application and the time the RPD itself takes. What else is involved for Hemet?
  • Hemet receives an app from the Remetj.
  • The app goes on to an altar with prayers and a small offering and waits for four days.
  • If there is more than one application in process, then each has its own space on the big temple altar.
  • Hemet arranges and sends out a schedule to the applicants and does the scheduling.
  • The night before the RPD appointment, Hemet sets up a different altar with the app, more offerings, and invites all the gods and all the applicant’s Akhu to come and take part. The divination tray is also set on the altar. (Again, this is done individually for each applicant scheduled for the next day.) She makes a vow to the Netjeru for each person who will have their appointment the next day, to serve them through and past the process of the RPD.
  • At the time of the RPD, Hemet moves the altar and tray into her office, so she has access to it during the appointment.
  • Divination is done on the wooden tray.
  • The RPD appointment takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours.
  • Hemet has done up to 5 in one day, but it’s usually 1-3.
  • After the divination and discussion, the altar(s) go back to the previous location the night before and remain another 24 hours.
  • After 24 hours have passed, Hemet gives thanks and takes the altar(s) down.

So… for each RPD, Hemet is spending 3-6 hours on the rituals, let alone the time necessary for shopping for offerings and arranging the appointment. So… in the 24 hours that we pay Hemet for, if each RPD takes an average of 4.5 hours, one RPD takes up around 22% of the hours we currently pay Hemet for.

People pay a fee of $53 for supplies for the RPD. This fee does not cover Hemet’s time. Also, it almost never covers the costs the offerings. For example, if the applicant is from Brazil, 53 Brazilian reals is $7 in U.S. dollars and many Remetj around the world cannot afford the fee. If RPD fees do not cover the necessary costs of offerings, Hemet makes up the difference personally with her own money. In the rare case where there are funds left over, Hemet saves them to use for those who cannot pay or for the naming offerings.

She has done this for every RPD. It is a lot of work... and a lot of time.

Can we give her the funds she needs to do the work?

Thank you for your consideration.

[PUBLIC] Fundraising Announcements / Hemet's Daily Commitments
« on: April 20, 2019, 04:23:35 pm »
As we promised yesterday, we're going to give you some information on how much time it really does take to do the things she does. Today we're going to talk about what she does before she gets to the "special" things. As we go through all that she does, you will see that we are getting more than 24 hours of work from Hemet every week. If she only worked 24 hours, she would be paid a reasonable fee.

This is not a "regular" job. She really can't "leave it at the office and go home." If someone calls with an emergency, she is not going to turn us away. She does things when they need to get done, and that isn't always during the 24 hours she has scheduled for us. She would truly love to work for us full time again when we can pay her appropriately.

Here is what goes into a normal day:
  • Daily Ritual: Each sunrise, Hemet performs a ritual that lasts 30-45 minutes. Generally, she goes to sleep, gets up for dawn, and then goes back to sleep.
  • Email: At a minimum, Hemet spends an hour a day on House related emails. This is every day, not just the three she has committed to us. So it is at least 7 hours a week, almost one third of the paid time she gives us.
  • Pastoral Counseling: Hemet is currently doing 4 to 6 hours of counseling a week. Again, nearly a third of the time she gets paid for.
  • Administration (forums, Tawy, priests, beginners class, retreat planning, working on any gatherings planned, etc.): This kind of work often forms the majority of what Hemet spends her time on in the week. Again, she is doing this 7 days a week, 1-2 hours a day because there is just so much of this work to be done. That means, if we take an average of 1.5 hours a day, she is spending 10.5 hours a week on administration. The administrative work that can be given to others has already been given to volunteers.
  • Other daily rituals: prayers and other things that she does throughout the day, her version of the State rite, special holiday rites and prayers, divinations that aren’t RPDs (Akhu, Beloved, etc.). These other rituals often take over an hour and cannot always be limited to “workdays.”
  • Duas: Hemet spends 1-3 hours a week attending Duas. This does not include the planning or writing speaking notes for the ones where she is leading conversation, nor does it include preparing rituals for those Duas.

Stay tuned... tomorrow we'll be talking about what time is involved in an RPD!

[PUBLIC] Fundraising Announcements / How Much Time Does It Take....?
« on: April 19, 2019, 07:26:13 pm »
Starting tomorrow, we will be posting information on how much time it takes for Hemet to do some of the things we love having her do. And the things we may not know she's doing.

Here's a list of what we will be covering:
  • Daily Activities
  • RPDs
  • Shemsu Names
  • Preparing a Gathering
  • Preparing New Rituals
  • Off Hours Emergencies

We hope you will come back to find out how much time it really does take.

We will also be posting status updates on the month of April every few days. As of today we have received $558.28 through regular PayPal and have $677 waiting in the PayPal Giving Fund to be sent to us around the 25th of the month.

This totals to $1,235.28. That's less than $775 to go.

Let's see if we can meet the goal this month!

Thank you!

[PUBLIC] Fundraising Announcements / The 33 Club
« on: April 18, 2019, 07:49:43 pm »
As Rev Sobeqsenu said, there were $10 people who donated $33 or more in March.

For the first reward, we have the 33 Club graphic that can be added to your forum avatar. To see what the graphic looks like on an avatar, please check out my avatar where you can see it.

We are not assuming that everyone wants to show everyone that they are in the 33 Club. However, if someone does want to add the graphic, please email me at revebehrens@kemet.org. There are two options:

  • I send you the graphic and you add it to your avatar yourself (requires Photoshop or another graphic editor).
  • Or, you send me your original avatar graphic, and I will add the 33 Club graphic to it.

I am happy to send instructions or help you figure something out, just contact me and we’ll get it done.

Thank you everyone!

[PUBLIC] Public Announcements / Donation Tracker Revisement
« on: December 09, 2018, 06:26:18 pm »
The donation tracker has been removed so that we can recalibrate it because the number of people using the PayPal Giving Fund is increasing. The PayPal Giving Fund allows us to receive the full amount of the donation without PayPal removing any fees. This is wonderful!

However, the donations to the PayPal Giving Fund do not get deposited when donated. They are held and deposited once a month around the 25th of the month. This means, tracking what the regular PayPal account has received, leaves us thinking we're way behind.

Rev Sobeq and I will coming up with a new graph to show the current balance. If you have any questions, you can ask either one of us for information. We will be posting a donations for the current month announcement here on the forums, once Rev Sobeq and I determine how often.

Thank you for all you do.
