[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Dietary choices and the Gods
« on: January 22, 2017, 01:00:59 pm »
Hello, everyone!

It's been a few years since I've been here and in that time I've gone vegan. Just wondering what people's thoughts are about vegetarianism, veganism, or other dietary choices in connection with Netjer. Obviously I can't offer any animal products and I wonder how limiting that will be. In Ancient Kemet, I imagine most of the common people would have eaten a great deal of plant based food but from what I've read, offerings would often consist of animal products because they were more expensive and didn't last as long, therefore making them more of a luxury. But I suppose it also depends on who you're offering to; has anyone found that particular Names either like or dislike animal products? Has anyone replaced milk with soy milk, or anything like that? And in terms of Names with animal associations, such as Hethert, would you refrain from offering her anything from a cow?

I thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss, but please forgive me if it's been talked about before! I couldn't find much from searching. Any other vegetarians or vegans here?

Hi everyone! I doubt any of you will remember me, but I did the beginners course and became a remetj years ago. I wasn't ready to be divined or become a Shemsu, though, and I've not been on the forums much since as it's been a busy few years. I think I missed the reorganisation and am a guest again, so I might retake the beginners class. Anyway, I'm now living near Frankfurt in Germany and working as an archaeologist, so lots has changed! :) Looking forward to meeting you all!

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Let's talk about Wenut!
« on: April 03, 2013, 03:39:05 pm »
Em Hotep, everyone!

I started a thread on the Q&A section about Easter celebrations, and Wenut was mentioned a few times. As I've not heard much about her, I looked through the forums to find more information, but I couldn't find anything. So I thought she deserved her own thread! Does anyone have any personal experiences with Wenut that they'd like to share?

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Celebrating Easter?
« on: March 30, 2013, 07:54:36 am »
I was looking through the shrines thread the other day, and saw one which was dedicated to a hare goddess (I can't remember her name, unfortunately), in celebration of Easter. I was wondering how everyone else celebrates Easter, if you celebrate at all. Is there a Kemetic holiday that falls on a similar date, like Moomas? Do you honour a particular name that reminds you of Easter? I know there are members here that practice Wicca as well as Kemetic Orthodoxy, do you celebrate Ostara? Seeing as Easter is celebrated all over the world by people of many different religions, I'm curious to know how you all celebrate!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Demoted to Guest

Em Hotep!

I've been absent from the boards for a couple of years, and returned recently to find that my status has changed from remetj to guest. I emailed Hemet about this a couple of weeks ago, but haven't had a reply yet. I don't know how long it usually takes her to reply, so I was just wondering if there's anyone else I should be talking to about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Em Hotep, everyone!

I joined these forums a few years ago, took the beginners course, but unfortunately, life got in the way and I haven't been here for a long time. But now I'm in a much better place, and hoping to finally continue my journey into Kemetic Orthodoxy. :)

Anyway, I doubt any of you remember me (I was always more of a lurker than a talker), but my name's Amber, and I'm an archaeology student living in England. I'm hoping to learn lots and get to know all you lovely people!
