Em hotep!

In 2015, when I was grieving the recent deaths (10 months apart) of my two elderly cats so intensely that I could hardly even look at images of cats or think about them in general without breaking down, Bast came to me and said, in effect, "There are other ways for you to connect to Me besides through cats," and led me to start exploring the art of perfumery.  I started doing a lot of reading on www.fragrantica.com and have been fascinated with how much there actually is to know and learn about perfume, not the least of which is how to identify the notes I like and how they affect one another in different compositions.

Does anyone have UPG regarding Bast and modern perfumes?  Mine has been that She feels the modern perfume industry may be less than ideal (certainly most perfumes could not be considered ritually pure, for example, since they contain synthetic ingredients), but certainly some perfume makers are better than others, and there are some She likes in spite of this.  Has anyone ever offered a modern perfume to Bast, and how did She respond?

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Sobek?

I've developed an interest in learning a little more about Sobek, particularly His connections to Set.  I've read that in some myths, He is known as Set's son, but I guess I wonder *which* and *how many* myths have stated this. Can anyone direct me to any pertinent older threads, or share a little of their experience of Sobek in general?  If anyone has had any experiences of Set leading or introducing them to Sobek or any sense of connections between the two of Them, I'd be interested to hear about that as well.  Thanks!

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / If statues keep breaking...

If something unfortunate seems to befall every statue you acquire of a particular Name and they keep ending up broken, can this be significant, or just unhappy coincidence?  Can it mean that you might be assuming a relationship to that Name that isn't truly there, or isn't what you think it is?  Can it mean that Name is "rejecting" us to some degree?  Or am I just reading too much into it?

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Set and anger
« on: February 23, 2017, 11:30:18 pm »
I've long felt that Set has been around me or been part of my life, maybe in my lineup if I were to ever have the RPD done, but I've never felt that I know or understand Him very well.  In a general way, perhaps, and I can see certain aspects of my life and certain events that He has probably influenced, but I can't sense His presence in a direct way (as if He were in the room with me) as I can with Bast and Sekhmet.  For the Set kids, what has been your experience of Him in particular as it relates to anger?  How does He react or respond when *you* are angry?  Have you ever been angry *at* Him, and if so, did you tell Him?  Does He get angry at *you*, and if so, how do you know when He is?  Perhaps most importantly, do you think He ever influences anything to deliberately *make* you angry in order to get you to act on something?

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Peeking In

Hi, everyone.  It's been a pretty long time since I checked in here- about 4 and a half years!- but just decided to touch base again and update my profile since I moved recently.  I've never been the most active (I'm a Remetj but have never gotten a divination) but have always wanted to maintain at least a basic connection to the House and the community.  (I'm in the group on Facebook, but it seems like that isn't used for very much.)  So I will try to start checking in here again from time to time.  The Names I've stayed the closest to all of this time have continued to be Bast and Sekhmet. (Set is still around, as well, but I'm not as sure about Djehuty). It's been a rough few years of changes for me and it's nice to be reconnecting with something that has brought me a lot of comfort in the past.

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Nut and Hethert/Nut and Set

Em hotep!

In the glossary of Names on Kemet.org, I read that Nut and Hethert share many symbols and titles as Netjer of the night and daytime skies, respectively.  Can anyone tell me where I might read more about the connection between Hethert and Nut?  Also, would anyone care to talk about what they know or have experienced as UPG in regard to the nature of the relationship between Set and His mother, Nut?

Em hotep!

I just received Hemet(AUS)'s most recent e-mail regarding the newest RPD guidelines, and it felt significant because I've been feeling more and more like I am finally ready to undergo RPD this year.  I've been thinking about it for almost 4 years now-the equivalent amount of time to being in high school or college- and I think I am finally letting go of my need to hear certain Names turn up.  I have a question before sending in my application, however, and thought I'd see if I could find answers here first without bothering Hemet, considering how busy her schedule always is...the thing is that, while I feel ready for the RPD, I know I am not yet prepared to take Shemsu vows, regardless of what my lineup may be.  Even if I agree with the results 100 percent (which I'm not necessarily expecting) I will probably want to wait a while before taking the step to becoming Shemsu, because I've taken every other step on this path after waiting a considerable amount of time, just to be sure, and honestly, while I know KO *is* the religion for me in the event that "religion" is for me at all...I'm still figuring out *how* significant of a role I want organized religion to play in my life. Is this something I should tell Hemet up front at the time I submit my application, or at any point before having the RPD? I didn't know if it would be considered disrespectful in any way to know something like this beforehand and not mention it.

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Sekhmet Kids and Fighting?
« on: December 02, 2011, 03:00:40 pm »
Em hotep!

Can anyone direct me to some threads on the boards regarding Sekhmet kids being "fighters" (as in, having warrior natures or fighting for causes)?  I am sure I've seen some in the past, but it's been several years.  Thank you!

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Working My Way Back
« on: November 11, 2011, 02:26:32 pm »
Em hotep all!

I've been away from the boards for what has begun to feel like forever, so I feel I should reintroduce myself.  I'm a Remetj, I'm close to Bast, Sekhmet, Djehuty, and Set, I live in New Orleans and I feel I've kind of wandered away from my faith in the last year or so and I want to commit to reconnecting with it and with the KO community.  :)  So, um.....Hi!  :)

Em hotep!

I wasn't sure where to put this question, and I hope I'll be forgiven if it's stupid...but... I have been wondering whether anyone knows if Hemet (AUS) would ever agree to an RPD using Facebook's live chat feature.  The reason I ask is because I have never been able to get the regular chat program(s) used by the House to work on my computer (and as a result I missed out on all live chats during my Beginner's Class), but Facebook chat seems to work just fine for me.  I have never totally ruled out undergoing RPD, and I think about it fairly often, but I have always assumed it would be extra difficult to schedule without the IRC chat working.  I understand that Facebook may not be considered an appropriate or pure enough cyberplace for RPD, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

Em hotep!!

i understand that we do not have a choice as to Who our spiritual Parents are in KO, but i seem to remember reading on another thread a while back that sometimes a Name may "request" to be acknowledged as a Beloved, and it is then up to us to accept that Name or not, and then at other times, X Name might give us no choice in the matter.

my question is, how can we tell if we are being so "courted" by a Name?  and what might happen if we choose not to accept that Name as a Beloved??  does anyone have any experiences with this that they are willing to share???

i was wondering if there are any other types of close relationships with specific Names that are recognized/acknowledged in KO besides Parents and Beloveds.  i noticed someone on another forum i visit refer to herself as a "Pupil of Djehuty".  is this a KO concept or something outside KO?
