Topics - The Tai'awepwawet System

Pages: [1]

I had an interesting experience during our Senut recently.

It has been our perception of late that Sobek has been around since pre-RPD for me. Which is quite a thing, as I was not around at the time. I do not know Sobek well at all. I know a couple of things he is supposed to be the "God of", but that is about it.

And yet, in our Senut, I found myself feeling a profound sensation of, I'd say affection, or perhaps love, towards him. I could not figure out why, as he is essentially a stranger to me. But the sensation persisted and was quite strong.

I assume that this is likely "normal", but I would still like to hear people's experiences with such a thing if possible. Most people seem to have affection for deities that they know well, or were at least investigating at the time. How many of you have felt these things for deities you did not know, and if I might ask, what came of it?

Thank you,

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Not a reintroduction

I'm Selene, and I am a headmate in the system known as Tai'awepwawet. Until recently that name was solely used by Rowan/Isha, but I live to make things complicated.

I still consider myself fairly agnostic as a person, however I have read the beginners lessons thoroughly, and been both doing and sharing in Kemetic Orthodox ritual practice (albeit infrequently for health reasons) for a few months now. The rules on plurals are, I think, a bit interesting, I don't think I as an individual have to reapply for and be granted membership status, but I would personally identify as a Divined Remetj at this point if I had the option.

I am building a relationship with the Gods of our collective line up, though I have a strong draw to Sobek, which as someone who has until recently been very areligious, is confusing for me. Which is not to say it is neither interesting nor enjoyable in its own way.

I can be quite quiet all things considered, but an introduction seemed to be worth doing at least, particularly as we will be trying to remember to sign posts from now on.

And so, hello.

I’m very curious about the differences, if any, people feel exist between:

Sed - King, ancient, huge, a deity so intimately involved with Wepwawet that they may be the same God

Wepwawet as king - A powerful and historical aspect of Wepwawet’s identity

Star Jackal - UPG name for a celestial, primordial manifestation of Wepwawet. Ancient and kingly are other terms I've heard used.

Wepwawet-Sed - Wepwawet aspected or syncretised with Sed, gaining the traits of Sed or having them amplified

Every time I think I've got my musings on this nailed down, they shift again. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Em hotep folks,

So I was a member a while back, but I left in about 2011 and swam in the independent seas in the time since then. But I return :o

I'm really bad at knowing what to say. New threads, what are those. What's happened since I was here? I got a new flat! And a cat! I got medication for my depression and sorta my anxiety that actually works! I'm back studying Egyptology short courses again, which is entertaining. I've finally got into pen and paper RPGs, and I've been having a lot of fun with that.

My time away was really good for me, I think. It was hard for me to see it at the time, but it was what I needed to do. It has helped me get a grasp on what I do and don't need in my Kemetic life, and weirdly has actually helped me figure out how to do ritual like Senut more regularly. I needed time away from KO to find my feet with that. And once I did find myself firmly grounded, I felt the pull to come back. And so here I am. Babbling away. I'll stop now. o/

When it comes to the two most famous and more commonly divined Herus, we all know who'd win a popularity contest. I suspect he knows it too :P Heru-Wer's manly and war-like and kick-ass and we love him.

It's too easy to think of Heru-sa-Aset as his little cousin. To forget about him in the shadow of the raucous party guy. And when we associate Heru-Wer with the kingly ka, it's even easy to forget that aspect of Heru-sa-Aset's life.

No longer! This thread is about Heru-sa-Aset! In all his glory! So come, one and all, post anything you like about Heru the saviour of his father! Pictures, experiences, poems, songs, hymns, rituals! Have fun! :D Go to your shrines and make offerings if you like, rattle on sistra and bang on drums, and generally celebrate how powerful and great Heru-sa-Aset is :)

Dua Heru-sa-Aset, Nekhtet!
