[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / Prayers for my kitty's health
« on: February 15, 2019, 01:05:00 pm »
My sweet Keiko is at the vet right now for some urinary issue. They are confident that it is probably not a urinary obstruction, but they think it may be kidney stones. She's currently in line to get an x-ray done. Prayers to Bast and Yinepu-Wepwawet that they may find what her ailment is and may they treat her and cure her. Prayers also that the fees to do so will be minimal.

Hello all. I've discovered that one of the reasons I [unfortunately] neglect my akhu shrine is that I'm seemingly afraid of death.  I know most people are afraid of dying, but I'm talking about being afraid of discussing death, dying, and the like. I imagine that must sound odd coming from the daughter of the Chief of the Embalming Tent, Yinepu.

Many of the members here who know me know that there have been a lot of sudden and unfortunate deaths in my family. I also had to face the possibility that my husband might die in surgery (he did not, thankfully, and has recovered). After all this, I've found the topic of death and losing someone almost panic inducing,  despite knowing that we all will one day travel West.

I've decided to read and meditate on the Book of Coming Forth by Day (book of the dead) in the hopes that it might make death a little less terrifying. I plan on writing out a section, then writing a journal piece on it. My question for you all on this: in my writing/journaling, would it be appropriate to change the text to modernize it since I'm contemplating my own this on death, or would it be more appropriate to read it in its absolute original context? Thanks!

Hotep family and friends!

As many of you are aware, my dog Mordekai has been having recurrent digestive issues. I've noticed other shemsu and remetj have been having similar pet health issues. I was wondering what you all have been doing to help your pets (aside from vet visits, of course). The Netjeru have kindly reminded me that I can use heka to aid both in discovering the underlying cause of illness and in recovery for my pet.

Here's where I turn to you. Which Gods have you been working with on this? At a Sekhmet healing ceremony one year at retreat, Sekhmet advised me to go to my Father Yinepu. Are there any other Names you might recommend?

In the realm of heka, I have considered a few avenues:

1. A healing tag for Mordekai's collar
2. A heka charm on his crate for healing rest
3. Infusing his drinking water with healing heka

Thoughts or suggestions? I expect this might be useful for many folks here. Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I came across this today on facebook, and I think you need to see it. I support animal shelters, food pantries, and an orphanage, but my biggest focus is on helping the homeless. This could be any one of us at any point in time. They're all people, worthy of respect and dignity, but often they are looked over or even feared. Despite the stereotypes, most of these people just want a safe, dry place to sleep, somewhere to keep what little they have, a place to call home. This project, though small, can have a huge impact. Please, if you can, help rebuild the lives of those who need it most. Take a moment, if anything, to read about what this project is doing, and maybe say a prayer that they get all the funds they need.

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Getting to know Montu
« on: January 12, 2015, 08:43:57 am »
Does anyone work with Montu or Montu-Ra? I'm interested in getting to know Him better and I would like to chat with anyone who is familiar with Him.

Also, silly question, but anyone have tips on approaching a relatively unfamiliar Name? Montu feels closer to me than I expected, but I'm having trouble initiating that connection from my side as I'm unsure how to approach such a powerful Name (I have a similar problem with approaching Set). Any suggestions? Ty :)

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Cave Netjeru?
« on: December 16, 2014, 07:19:01 am »
Hotep! I went to Marengo Cave a little over a week ago, and it was super awesome! The energy of the cave, the atmosphere...everything just felt 'right'. Since then, I've kind of been feeling like there was/is a Name/Names Who was trying to get my attention, or perhaps a netjeri. I'm just trying to figure out Who it might be so I can talk with Them about my experience. So far, my list of potential Gods are:

- Yinepu <3
- Wesir
- Amun
- Nebthet
- Nun
- Ptah
- Ptah-Sokar-Wesir (or some other variant thereof)

Any ideas? Thanks!

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / For the health of my future mother-in-law
« on: November 26, 2014, 09:46:36 pm »
I have been with my now fiance for over 5 years, and in that time, my future mother-in-law has become very dear to me. Since June when we all went to Cancun, she has been experiencing stomach pain every time she eats, and she has lost a substantial amount of weight due to being unable to eat. After testing today, she was diagnosed with cancer, though the type of cancer has yet to be determined. Her sister died of stomach cancer, so my fiance and I are very concerned for her and her well-being.

Both types of cancer that are suspected can be treated, but one reacts to treatment much better than the other. Please pray for her health and that, whatever happens, that she may survive if at all possible. May the Gods watch over her and her doctors. May They breathe life upon her and bring her good health and happy days.

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / Prayers for strength and understanding
« on: October 10, 2014, 12:16:50 pm »
I'm at a particularly dark moment in my life right now, and I could use some supportive prayers. I'm in conflict with both my significant other and my inner feelings: I'm fighting with him over simple things, and I'm fighting with myself over what I should do to resolve my and my partner's conflicts. I'm feeling pretty depressed and vulnerable right now, so please pray that I say what I need to say, that I use the perfect words to say exactly what I mean, that I can think clearly during these turbulent times despite all of the trouble it may cause, and that I may have the strength to bear whatever the consequences may be.

Thank you.

Hotep friends and family!

I intend to do some service work in Louisville, KY and I would like for you to join me :)

Places I am considering volunteering:

  • Center for Women and Families
  • Dare-to-Care food bank
  • local elderly assisted living facility
  • Kosair Children's hospital

I would like to invite friends from my city and nearby areas to join me. If there is interest, I will organize a day (or selection of days, probably February or later) for service to be done. Please comment if you are interested in learning more about this.

Added bonus: if you show up to help at one of my service projects, I will [to the best of my ability] attend/help with a service project in your city in return.

I hope to hear from a lot of you soon! :)

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Missed festival
« on: October 04, 2013, 10:37:27 am »
Hotep! So, I totally never really officially observed the Feast of the Beautiful Valley. Amun has been subtly poking at that fact, I think. I just wanted an outside opinion: should I do an belated observance, or just make a point to make an offering to Amun in its place? It seems an offering is going to happen regardless, but I just wanted to ask about whether it is appropriate to consider it a belated festival observation.

« on: May 07, 2013, 06:02:01 pm »
Dua Yinepu-Wepwawet! Dua Heru-Wer! Dua Set! Dua Mut! Thank the Gods I got a new job! Even if it's technically temporary, this is  exactly what I needed and I will likely be hired on permanently after the temporary period! I am so happy! Praise the Names of Netjer!

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / Prayers for a good job interview
« on: March 10, 2013, 08:55:07 pm »
T.T I'm nervous as heck now about my job interview tomorrow. Prayers would be greatly appreciated! I just want to make sure that I can keep my cool, not get all shakey, and say exactly what I mean to say. Here's to hoping that it all works out. Dua Yinepu-Wepwawet! May my Father guide me through this.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Shrines and Purity
« on: August 29, 2012, 04:15:30 pm »
Quick question: I know that we have to purify for senut, but is it necessary to purify every time we go to the shrine? For example, if I just wanted to light a candle and pray at my shrine without going through the full senut rite, do I have to purify first? Will I end up "dirtying" my shrine if I don't purify for that?

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / 70 days of mourning
« on: October 09, 2011, 09:42:12 pm »
My uncle Jack just passed into the Beautiful West a little over an hour ago. I want to observe the 70 days of mourning, but I don't know much about it. I've looked through the forums, but there isn't a whole lot on the subject. I was wondering if perhaps anyone would be able to point me in the right direction, either to a book, or a website, or even someone knowledgeable on the subject. I didn't want to bother Hemet(AUS) without first going to the forums, so I'm hoping this might help a little. Thanks.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Questions about Senut
« on: October 04, 2011, 11:54:24 pm »
I have a few questions I've been meaning to ask.

1.) How can you tell if you've got 10 grains of natron? What constitutes a grain? I first felt like I was using too much, but now I feel like I'm using too little.

2.) If you're under high amounts of stress, should you or should you not perform senut? As many members are aware, my uncle is dying, and I'm very torn up about it. In addition, I'm stressed out from school and financial things. I want to keep doing senut, and I know I'm supposed to every day, but I can't tell if I'm not wanting to or if They would rather me pray instead of full senut.

3.) I have a roommate who is very curious about the senut rite. I remember that the beginners lessons say that they are intended only for the original recipient, so I haven't shown her directly (we've just talked about it). Is it okay for me to share the words to the rite? She's interested in going through the beginner's course just to see what KO is about (she's genuinely curious but isn't really sure that KO is right for her), but I know the beginner's class just kinda started. What should I do about this situation?

Any and all help is loved. Thanks :D
