[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Long time

Hotep!

Just checking in and wanted to say I've missed you all. I'll try to stay more active and hopefully reconnect with some of you. I know it's been a while! Love you all!

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Hello Again
« on: August 03, 2016, 08:06:05 am »
Em Hotep

I am sure many of you remember me, and so.e not in a good way. I first want to apologize for offending anyone here and I hope that in the spirit of the new year, we can move forward past that. I was hoping to apply for Remetj status under the acknowledgement from me to keep to matters relating to spirituality and not political. Please let me know if this is possible, thank you.

Senebty!

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Interesting UPG
« on: December 17, 2012, 11:20:54 pm »
Was wondering if anyone else has heard a subtle yet undeniable urge from Sekhmet-Hethert to get Her cranberries or cranberry juice. Was in the store tonight and was looking and I passed it up initially, and then came back to it. I hate it, and never even think of it, but the more I thought about it, my arm just drifted over that way and grabbed it!

Has anyone ever had a similar experience with the same or similar item?

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / For the Ka of Cade Poulos

Em Hotep!

Please keep this person's ka, and his family and friends in your prayers. It is also a reminder that no matter where we are or what we are doing, it's important for all of us to take a stand against bullying. Being sad and making nice comments after something tragic like this happens isn't enough.

We need to take a stand against it, and work for Ma'at regardless of where we are at, so that nothing like this happens again.

Senebty and Thank You.

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Ra-Heruakhety Project

Em Hotep!

Seeing as there are only two or three (that I know of, if I am missing some of you guys, sorry!) Ra-Heruakhety kids out there, I thought it would be really great to compile a sort of encyclopedia of information, mythology and knowledge about Dad, and how he is seen in the eyes of ancient egypt and also how we see him as children of His.

I've got a good start (thanks, mose!) so if you have any links, or information on Dad and his related myths please don't hesitate to post in this thread, or contact me via FB or PM. Once I get the basic information compiled I will set up some sort of blog or site to make it available to anyone who wants to learn about Ra-Heruakhety.

Senebty,

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Sekhmet-Hethert
« on: September 15, 2012, 01:57:47 am »
So I am having a little bit of difficulty with indentifying Sekhmet-Hethert as a syncretic goddess. This is probably the most difficult aspect of Netjer that I have had to grasp. I understand that in a nutshell, She is neither Sekhmet, nor Hethert. Instead She is something entirley new and unique.

But to me, She feels and appears as Hethert and I don't think She likes me identifying, or rather it doesn't feel right to identify her as Sekhmet. I know that there are a lot of Sekhmet-Hethert brothers and sisters out there who've had better luck understanding Mom.

Can you give me a hand?! I like personally, seeing Mom as almost entirely Hethert, but with the fierce and possibly stern personality of Sekhmet.

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Song of Strength to Heru
« on: September 04, 2012, 02:02:59 am »
This is my first song or poem I think I've ever written from scratch. I want to branch out beyond just prayer to honor Netjer, so I thought this would be a good start, as well as a way to work on my own spiritual shortcomings. Comments would be appreciated. :)

Dua Heru!
God of sky, god I love.
Fill me up, my wings upon air.
My worries behind, my fears below.

As you fly, let me fly.
High above, high above.
Give me strength, give me courage.
Doubt below, anxiety below.
Lift me up, high above, high above.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Possessions

Just a side question here. Have there ever been occurrences of possessions or hauntings that are specifically Kemetic related?

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / For my Kitty

Em Hotep!

I took my Cat to the vet today. She's got fluid in her lungs, and they aren't sure specifically why, and are unsure if she'll get better or not. We have her on Antibiotics, but it's 50/50. Her name is Tweak, so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Kemeticism: Decentralized
« on: March 23, 2012, 12:14:13 am »
I have been spending some time lurking here on the forums. I've underwent the Beginner's Course and I learned a great deal about what Kemetic Orthodox is and what it's not. I feel strongly on religious and spiritual matters and one thing that has really stuck out to me is how much I really reject ritual, ceremony and traditional forms of energy focus. Before I launch headlong into my rant (well, spiel, not rant because I am not really bothered by anyone here -- I value this community greatly), I want everyone to know I value and respect KO, and everyone that practices it. I believe strongly in respecting and sharing opinions and beliefs. Just so we've got that covered, and nobody thinks I mean to disrespect anyone or the Nisut.

Since I started really searching myself, and finding out what it was I really believed in, I knew that I didn't want to adhere to a specific set of dogmatic religious belifs, and ritual ceremonial motions and chants. I felt and still feel, that spirituality and a personal relationship with Netjer (whom I still profess as the singular entity that I strive to understand and honor) comes not through ritual or practicing elaborate rites with tools, instruments and other earthly objects. Those are designed in my opinion, to focus our own energy towards Netjer or the Gods he manifests as. I feel that I have moved beyond such things, and that while I still would prefer to keep an altar, I do not believe that practicing Senut on a rigid, specific pattern is beneficial to a healthy spiritual lifestyle as a Kemetic. I think it's important to avoid that, because it can bring with it all sorts of negative behaviors such as complacency, and carelessness.

I firmly believe that practicing Senut, or maintaining a shrine in whatever way that is pleasing to your spiritual well being, is pleasing to the Netjer(u). I know that in my heart of hearts, and I cannot speak for all -- just myself, that Netjer makes no special place in his heart for those that practice with traditional tools and rites, and those that prefer a more decentralized, modest and respectful approach to worship of the Netjer(u).

This has been weighing on me heavily, and it is why I decided to not become a member of the HoN after completing my beginners course. I felt I had an obligation to share with you my feelings and thoughts on this, and I welcome any constructive feedback that you might have. :)

Em Hotep!

I recently picked up a nice copy of Budge's translation of the book of the dead. I am wondering if it is an accurate representation(s) of the afterlife as kemetics can or could interpret it. What things should I keep in mind as I read it?

So I may have accidentally deleted my info on the class. Is it too late to salvage my spot or will I need to re apply?

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Question regarding Set
« on: May 26, 2011, 06:39:53 pm »
I've been doing a little bit of reading and what I have come up with, based on my books is that Horus and Set didn't/don't exactly like one another based on Egyptian mythology. Now, with that in mind I read a little more and discovered that essentially, they went to a court of the Gods and that Set was found guilty of being a "liar", and guilty of killing Osiris, etc;

I don't know whether this is literal or merely a theological lesson taught in the form of a story (ala, Hebrew texts, like the Exodus). At the end however, I read that Set is hacked into pieces (that sucks!). Does this mean the actual manifestation of Set is dead or gone? Or is this a allegorical representation of good triumphing over evil?
