[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Djehuty Perceptions

Inspired by the perceptions of Bast thread, I would be fascinated by the perceptions of Djehuty that members have - especially those of his sons and/ or daughters...

As for me, I cannot picture Him as anything other than in his ibis form and never in the baboon form; my understanding is that the 'baboon' form represents our grosser, more earthy 'animal' nature and the ibis that more spiritualised self that we may aspire to. Of course, both of these forms are symbolic so I am profoundly curious as to how others perceive him and his presence...

Can anyone recommend some Kemetic-inspired music? I have Gerald Jay Markoe's 'Meditation Music of Ancient Egypt' which is very good and would like more ( preferably nothing too 'new agey'! ).

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Amun

I know that all the divine Names are Names of Netjer being aspects of Netjer in individual forms - but can Amun be regarded as identifiable with Netjer more 'completely'? I ask since 'Amun' means 'Hidden One' and as Amun-Ra "was the mysterious originator of all life, the 'one who made himself into millions'" ( 'Egyptian Mythology', Geraldine Pinch ).

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Oaths of Djehuty

December 28th this year is celebrated as 'The Oaths of Djehuty' - as I am considering performing my very first Senut on that date ( as a Djehuty 'follower' ), can anyone tell me what the 'Oaths of Djehuty' celebrates so that I can better understand the significance of this day?

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Khonsu

I've been feeling very 'drawn' to Khonsu recently - I was wondering whether anyone might share their own experiences/ impressions of this deity. Does Khonsu turn up in RPDs very frequently? Likewise, Djehuti who I have a very strong attachment to ( I'm very lunar orientated ) who I believe brought me to Kemetic Orthodoxy - in fact, I'll be really surprised if Djehuty doesn't turn up in my RPD ( but then, Netjer is full of surprises! :) ). I'd be very interested in any experiences of those deities.

I've ordered Norman Mailer's novel 'Ancient Evenings' set in ancient Kemet - anyone got any comments on it? Also, I'm being given a set of the Senet game - I've read the fascinating historical papers linked in other threads but I was wondering if anyone here plays the game regularly and/or any thoughts about it?

Can anyone recommend a single, comprehensive compilation of Kemetic mythology - either single or multi-volume? Is there perhaps a substantial reference work on Kemetic mythology?

Any directions appreciated!

[PUBLIC] All Things Egypt: Ancient & Modern History and Culture / Nuhati

During recent online exploration, I have come across the Nuhati Temple Fellowship ( ). Does anyone know about this and whether it's 'valid'? As a beginner in Kemetic Orthodoxy I would appreciate any advice/ guidance...

Em hotep! I wasn't sure where to put this request - but can anyone recommend to me a good kemet-themed tarot deck or oracle? Nefertari's Tarot looks beautiful but expensive - and the Anubis Oracle seems very interesting... All suggestions appreciated!

Can anyone recommend a good beginners text for learning to understand hieroglyphs?

[PUBLIC] FAQ: RPD (Rite of Parent Divination) / Forgiveness
« on: October 22, 2011, 07:06:30 am »
Em hotep!

As a new beginner and thus at the very start of my understanding of KO theology, I was wondering what KO teaching is regarding the whole subject of offences against  Netjer/ Netjeru ( either before or after coming to the faith ). What about guilt, self-forgiveness, redemption and atonement? Healing from guilt over 'sinful' and/or sacrilegeous actions and thoughts can be of enormous value to the spiritual life and I would be interested to hear what others think. Is there an official KO teaching regarding this or is it something we just have to work out for ourselves?

Also, does anyone have experiences regarding involuntary sacrilegeous thoughts?
