[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Bes Amulet/Artwork?
« on: January 21, 2020, 11:43:41 am »
My mother is having very unsettling dreams, they're not bad per se, but they are confusing and upsetting. I don't think she's getting very restful sleep. I was thinking of getting her a Bes Amulet or icon, something she can either wear or have in the room? Is that a good idea and is anyone in the house got a Bes-related item for sale or can make one?

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Returning

Em Hotep <3 I left the KO years ago, around 2014, not long after we moved into our new house. Six turbulent years on and I think we've finished unpacking lol. Statues to various deities looking a bit on the thin side after lack of offerings. Soon to be rectified. I'm taking the beginners course to give my brain a dust off.

Hoping to settle back into the community.  :)

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Wep Ronpet?

I know it's next month, but which day is Wep Ronpet exactly? And how do you calculate the date? (for future years)

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Parents Questions
« on: April 15, 2014, 08:03:18 am »
For a very long time now, I feel like I've been adopted by Ra & Set. I've had many interesting experiences with Ra that's different from experiences I've had with other deities. He always gives out fatherly vibes and anytime I'm doing something that I'm nervous about, (such as having to go somewhere on a bus when it's icy roads, awaiting decisions that will either bring good or bad news etc...) I automatically call him in my mind. He's always, "Don't worry, I'm here besides you." And then my nerves either settle or something good happens. As for Set, I've had an unexplainable obsession with him. Every article I could find on him, I read. Have also had some interesting experiences with him. So last year I announced to them that I was going to consider them my fathers until I undergo the RPD, they seemed fine with this. (And quite recently, If Set slips out of my mind or I pay too much attention to Ra, he'll remind me of his presence.) Is this okay to do? If their not my parents, will my real parents be offended?

Second question. Those with two parents, Do you ever find that one parent will be more dominant than the other most of the time? There have been one or two times when Ra or Set have appeared equal, but despite often appearing together, one usually gives off a stronger presence than the other. (Currently it's Set)

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / Prayers for MH370 Passengers
« on: March 08, 2014, 06:42:04 am »
For those who haven't read the news, a Malaysian plane carrying 227 passengers (from 14 different countries) has vanished after it suddenly stopped signalling it's location. Among the passengers were/are two infants (2 years olds - one chinese and one American) and three toddlers (Two 3 yr olds from China and a 5 yr old from America) as well as a 14 year old.
Boats and Helicopters out searching for the plane.
Prayers that they haven't crashed or if they have that they survived!

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / God(ess) of Renewal
« on: February 03, 2014, 06:49:27 am »
My mother feels like she has had a calling to start a new life (we've been through a lot lately but all is settled down now) and wondered which Netjeru were associated with Renewal. I was thinking of Ra... which Netjeru do you think are appropriate?

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Festivals and Set
« on: November 17, 2013, 10:58:03 am »
I've been reading through articles about festivals for the Netjeru and wondered if at any point in Ancient Kemet there was a festival focused on Set? And also does anyone know of any good books about him? Any material I find on the net seems to put him in the bad guy position.

During a meditation a few nights ago, my mind was completely void of thought, and suddenly someone (could of been one of the names) said something to me in Middle Egyptian and I've felt compelled to translate it since. I've seen many Middle Kingdom dictionaries floating around, but is there a particular one anyone here can recommend?

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Offering
« on: April 27, 2013, 05:46:36 am »
Kind of feel embarrassed to ask this now as i feel it's something I should know by now, but how exactly are you suppose to offer things to the gods? Do you place it on the shrine (or can you offer without the shrine?) and say a few words to the deity being offered and then consume it? or are you meant to throw it after? I've always been more of a prayers person so this is kind of new to me...

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Application for Beginners Class
« on: March 04, 2013, 09:45:58 am »
As I'm under 18 (I'm 15) it says i'll need my parent's written permission to apply for the Beginners class. Can I slip my mother's written permission in with the application when i send it off? Or do they have to send some kind of form back for parents to fill in?

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Omens or Coincidence?
« on: January 31, 2013, 02:48:52 pm »
Em Hotep!
I take it this is the right forum? o.o This may be a bit long... A few months ago we made a decision that as soon as mother was diagnosed, we would move into sheltered housing, as we don't like where we are, the region we live in is now too full of negative vibes (Mum's abusive husbands -I wasn't born back then, but it was terrible for her-...Bad people hanging around...Nosy respect for other peoples privacy and lousy siblings who mother spoiled, taught manners and religion to them, made sure they were always well dressed, never abused them, and yet in return they've been emotionally abusive to mum. And I'm the only one who has turned out religious) Now we want to get away from it all and let mum live the next half of her life in peace. And somehow I think one of the names are trying to tell us where we're set to go...

So start of this month, we were walking to a cafe. One that was a very carnivorous one, which both of us always complained about as we're both veggies, for ever since we lived near that cafe we could only have a cup of tea. As we walked to the cafe we were discussing how nice it would be to live in wales. Finally walking inside the cafe, something nearly leaped off the menu board and grabbed me: ''Welsh Cheese Sandwich''. I decided to order this, I had a feeling it was a sign from one of the names. I dubbed it 'The Omen Sandwich' We sat down and after a while of talking about it, mum told me to look behind me, and when I turned around there was a board advertising 'Welsh Ice Cream'. In the picture was a single cow in a field. Mum identified this with her, as we always pictured her as a cow lol, and she's also solitary. It was also odd because most people in the area we live in can't stand the welsh, let alone advertise them lol.

Next Sign came when we opened the Christmas Crackers, (On the start of Jan lol, we'd never got round to those) And what fell out was the star of David, I know this David wasn't St David (welsh patron) but hey, it was still a 'David' who shared the same name as the welsh patron. and I'm sure the names couldn't put a leek (welsh emblem) in the cracker... The star was also green...which we thought symbolized nature.

Next one was the hospital letter mother received (Not long after). It marked down three doctors which only one mother had her of, one of the other two were called 'Dr. Wales'. Now, mother is 57 and through her whole life has never heard of anyone's surname being 'Wales'.

Not long after mum was calling a company which usually either had Indians or occasionally Scottish people. But this time the person on the other end was welsh.

Next was at a book shop. We were there to get a book by 'Eowyn', which is thought to be a welsh name (there has been controversy) and mum got distracted by a book called 'Chavs' which she picked up to read the back and realized the author was an 'Owen Jones'
We walked into MacDonald's later and started to discuss the welsh omens, I pondered about Hethert, -isn't she the goddess of foreign lands-? Or at least that's what Wikipedia says (would appreciate if someone could confirm this), and the song 'Destination Calabria' started playing: 'Follow me, and let's go, to the place where we belong, and leave our troubles at home, come with me, we can go, to a paradise of love and joy', when usually they play the same songs over and over again.

When I kept looking up about wales I kept getting Cardiganshire thrown at me as well as Aeron River, -Aeron is a character in my story that I started writing a few years ago, I had no Idea that the name 'Aeron' had anything to do with wales. Perhaps that's nothing though...

All of this has happened in one month, does it sound like coincidence or are the Names really up to something? And it's not like we were looking for any of this, it just kept jumping out in front of us.

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Sekhmet-Nut?
« on: January 18, 2013, 04:47:40 am »
Em Hotep!
A couple of nights ago I dreamt of a Lioness-Headed Goddess, she was dark blue with stars in her fur. I remember she was wearing a solar disk and a Uraeus (not sure if that's spell right), that's how I connected her with Sekhmet. She didn't say anything...she was just stood there with a slight smile, there were sort of war-like vibes coming from her, but at the same time peace. When I say the dream was half vivid, I can't remember the details of her clothes, I remember it was red, could of been a tunic or gown. It was mainly her face that I remember. She was just surrounded by complete blackness...
Perhaps it was just something my brain made up, I had been reading about Nut before I went to bed, but still, I usually don't feel 'Vibes in dreams'
Apart from the suggestion of Sekhmet-Nut in the story of the Celestial/Heavenly Cow I can't find anything further about her. Has she appeared to anyone before, or has anyone had a upg?

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Hello! :)
« on: January 17, 2013, 05:58:29 pm »
Em Hotep! :)
After months of what I like to call forum-stalking (Reading lots on a forum without posting lol) I've decided to introduce myself (and have a question)   I live in England, and have loved Egypt since I was 7 (when I first heard the story of Cleopatra) Sometime last September I was talking with some Therians when i had a sudden obsession come over me, I felt some sort of pressure to open a new tab and found myself asking if anyone still worshiped the Egyptian Gods. And that's how I got here :) After I'd found the KO I felt like Bast had guided me here (I've had connections with her which up until now I didn't notice), and I felt compelled to build her a shrine instead of Yinepu (who I'd been slightly more fascinated with...Yinepu does have a small shrine now ^-^) Another thing was that I was always obsessed with the Greek Gods, so I always thought that if I was going to worship a pantheon it would be them? Anyway, Hope to learn more and can't wait until the next beginners course.

Also, I was wondering where I'd post a question about the possibility of Sekhmet-Nut, as I don't want to post in the wrong place?
