[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Sekhmet as Hedgehog
« on: June 02, 2019, 02:29:52 pm »
So.. I have been trying to connect with Sekhmet lately, and recently I came across "Sekhmet as hedgehog".  Does anyone have information to this connection between hedgehogs and Sekhmet?  I thought She was usually associated with lions, so the hedgehog connection is really interesting to me.  Any information would be greatly appreciated!  :)

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Camel as Icon?
« on: August 13, 2015, 07:54:57 pm »
Hello!  I am putting this in the "general' area as I think others might have input as well.  I was at Value Village the other day (which, for those unfamiliar, it is like Goodwill) and I came across this rather heavy and beautiful camel!  On its back was a round, circular space that looked like it might be able to accommodate a candle, and it had a sandy exterior, like you might find in the deserts of Egypt (or so it was made to appear).  I didn't buy it, but now I am wondering if perhaps I should have!  Do you think this would be appropriate for a shrine, and was there a significance with camels back then, or is this a recent association?  I am going back tomorrow (I job coach for someone who works there) and I was wondering, if it's still there, should I grab it?  It's cheap, less than 5 bucks.  Perhaps it's a diamond in the rough? :D

I am so excited!!  And, a bit nervous..but so excited!!  I know there used to be a post where we could list our scheduled RPD time for anyone who wanted to hang out and wait with us, but I can't find the post, so I started a new one!  It is scheduled for 2 pm pacific time.  Anyone wanna come hang with me?

So..I have decided, after more than a year, that I am finally ready for this!  I have sent in my questionnaire..been in contact with Hemet (AUS)..and now I am waiting to be scheduled!  I am so looking forward to this, and really trying to be patient!

I seem to be kind of in the minority (from what I have been reading, anyway) in that, I don't care in the slightest who shows up.  I have had a relationship with Set and Bast mostly, with some others looking in from time to time, and I've loved it all.  The way I figure, this will mark the beginning of a totally different journey for me.  I'll love it if they'll be accompanying me, but if not, then I'll treasure the experiences and move on to whatever is next in my future, and I am looking forward to embracing whoever does show up.

I think it took me as long as it did to make this decision, because I was happy with Those in my life, and I don't really handle change very well, so what I didn't know wasn't hurting me.  However, I have realized that, while it wasn't hurting me per se, it wasn't helping either..and I want to grow..both in this community and personally.

While I wait to be scheduled, I have decided to talk to Them as a whole, and not focus on any particular Name or Names.  I am wondering about incense though.  Is there a particular scent that is good for a more "general" approach?  I would like to keep it as general as possible until my RPD.

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Which one?
« on: April 19, 2014, 08:15:47 am »
So, I was talking about the Gods with my husband, who is actually Atheist but open to discussing this sort of thing, and he said he has a recurring dream about a very large feline being who approaches him in a field.  He is afraid at first, but in the end this being only seems to want to "cuddle" as he puts it.  I am wondering if this might be a God or Goddess in full cat form.  The issue I have is, it is more tiger than lion.  Does anyone know Who, if Anyone, this might be?

I have recently become obsessed with Her.  Does anyone have any reliable internet resources for her?

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Hello again!

Hi all!  I have been away for a while and just wanted to re-introduce myself.  It has been a crazy few months of immigration to Canada, job hunting, anxiety issues, and life in general.  I am finally back on track, and ready to take on a more regular role here at the House!  I hope everyone is well!!

Akhmiu (Katmiut as I now go by)

Hi ya.  So, if I remember correctly, the beginner's class is due to start in just a few days, but I have yet to hear anything.  Does anyone have any information on this?  I know I signed up kind of late, so it's entirely possible that I didn't make it into the class this time around and that's perfectly fine with me--no pressure!    However, if the people who got in have already been notified, then I thought it would be a good thing to know, so I can stop checking my email inbox as often.. ;)

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / I have a REALLY strange UPG question..
« on: April 30, 2013, 01:07:13 pm »
Ok.  This is going to sound a bit silly, so I am just going to come right out and ask this.  Would one of the Names actually "give" someone a cold??  Not to be mean or punish or anything, but as a way of actually HELPING??

Here is the situation in a nutshell.  I live in Canada and six weeks ago we moved from one province to another.  When I got here, I walked into my new "home" only to find the body of my dead and decomposing landlord on the living room floor (sorry about the graphic image).  Because of our situation, it was not an option to find another place to live, so we called in the bio cleaners, got it cleaned up, and made it live-able as best we could.  However, because I am the one that found him and the one that has the mental images, I could still "smell" him, like he was still in the room, even after it was cleaned up.  We have since gotten all of the carpeting replaced upstairs, and this has helped considerably--I haven't smelled it in a couple of weeks, actually, and I am not "haunted" by these images as much as I used to be.  Also, I think Netjer has definitely helped ground me as well.  After I found this board and learned of the existence of Kemetic Orthodoxy, I created a basic shrine and began talking to Them in just a general sense, since I hadn't built up a relationship with any of the individual Names yet.  I light a small candle, offer Them water, and talk to them every day now, until I learn how to better honor Them. to 4 days ago..I walked downstairs to grab some towels from the bathroom and when I got near the stairs, there was the smell again!!  Just overpowering and very unexpected, and well..I kind of freaked out a little, so instinctively I started talking to Them, and I ended up actually asked for whoever was listening, to please make the smell go away.  I wasn't planning on doing it--it just sort of happened while I was talking to them, but afterwards I just got this overwhelming sense of calm and peace, and I went to bed feeling much more relaxed.  The next morning, I woke up with the WORST head cold of my life!!  At first I didn't really think anything of it--after all, people DO get sick and it doesn't have to mean anything.  I had been reading some of the posts here about how certain Names have a "be careful what you wish for" quality to them, and that got me thinking.  I reflected on my situation and realized that the smell was GONE--in fact, I was no longer smelling anything at all, because of the cold!

So..what I want to know is, could it have been one of the Names, actually trying to help?  Could They have given me this cold as a way of honoring my request? (I have actually been sensing Set all week) Or maybe, They were trying to teach me my first lesson, that I need to be a little more careful about how I phrase things?    In any case..whether it was Them or not, I am VERY GRATEFUL for the fact that I can no longer smell it!  However, I would also like to say the proper "thank yous" to Them if this was actually some sort of an intervention..

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Clarification about titles??
« on: April 24, 2013, 06:09:42 pm » I have been lurking here all week, and I believe I have a handle on the Remetj and Shemsu title as well as the clergy, but I am a little unclear on the Guest and Beginner ones?  I'm guessing that Guest is for those who have been approved to register and post here, but have yet to register or start the beginning class, and those in the class would be classified as Beginners?  Do I have it right?  Thanks! :)

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Helloooo!!
« on: April 24, 2013, 12:16:43 am »
Em Hotep! :)

I'm new 'round these parts. ;) I am actually known as Irisi but that name was taken here, so I had to pick something else. ;)  I am an American living in Canada (and trying to immigrate here).  I'm married to a wonderful Canadian man and have 4 grown children, two of which are currently with me and trying to immigrate with me..and 1 Basset hound. :P  I also beat to the sound of my own drum, as I'm sure you'll see if I hang around for long enough.

Although I have only just recently discovered Kemetic Orthodoxy, I have always had a strong interest in Ancient Egypt, which I suppose is why I chose to do my first college research paper on Nefertiti!  It was also my favorite paper.    I think Eqypt has been in my heart ever since! :)

Spiritually, I have been through a life-long voyage of discovery, first being raised Catholic, then choosing Atheism for a while, and then switching again to Paganism to explore a variety of paths before finally landing here.  Although no Netjer have specifically made themselves known to me in any kind of an obvious way, I do think that Aset led me here.  I don't know if she is in my lineup or not, but she has been with me every morning when I wake up since I discovered Kemetic Orthodoxy.

I have definite plans to take the beginner's class and will sign up for that by Thursday if time permits.  In the meantime, I wanted to say hello and I am looking forward to interacting with everyone learning as much as I can until I get into the course!
