[PUBLIC] Serving the World: Ma'at In Action / Violation of contract?
« on: September 11, 2018, 01:50:55 pm »
Em Hotep everyone!
First of all, I apologize if it's the wrong place to post it and feel free to move it to the right place on the forums. :)

My post is more of a rant but any feedback is appreciated. In the end of October ends my 2 year volunteering contract with my volunteering agency. My job is one of a teacher. So the rules are simple:
1. Each week a volunteer has to work 40 hours a week. The person in charge at our job can allow us a temporary condition of less hours per week but we have to cover them later by working extra.
2. Each year, the volunteers have 22 holiday days off and 20 sick days off (we need to add a note from a doctor if we take them). These days off can't be moved from one year to another. There is an option to volunteer 1 year and there's an option for 2 years. It's my second year now.

So during the first 2 months of my first year, my boss didn't have a fixed schedule for me and told me I'd cover the lacking hours later. I lacked 60 hours, which I later covered by working 45 hours a week for the next 3 months. My coordinator from the volunteering agency knew and she agreed.

Recently, by the end of my second year (I have 17 holiday days left), my coordinator told me last week that those extra hours I worked didn't count because "extra hours only count for that specific month". And I'd have to use my holiday days to cover for the lacking hours.
I read my agency's policy about lacking hours and nowhere it's said that extra hours count only for that specific month.
I ask myself several questions:
1. Why did she tell me this only now? The papers with extra hours "weren't fixed" in the system. And I sent them to her twice.
2. Holiday days can't be moved from year to year so... how does she plan to "cover" the lacking hours?

I sent her the screenshots in whatsapp with my agency's policy about extra hours and asked my boss to talk with her. He said he would. In the worst case scenario I'd turn to a lawyer.

But for the time being, I often encounter thoughts of anxiety here and there. I try to calm myself down but it's excruciating. /end of rant
Technically I have the upper hand but... grrr... -sigh-

Any thoughts?

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Creation
« on: March 04, 2018, 01:40:58 am »
Em Hotep, everyone! -henu-

I heard here and there about the 8 deities or 4 couples (is it the right word?) of Ogdoad. And I read a lot about how Ra created everything. But how do the 8 deities of Ogdoad come into the story of creation? Are they actual deities in our faith or are they forces of the universe like Isfet and Ma'at (who is also a Deity but in this context a force of the universe)?

Thanks everyone for the replies!!!  ;D

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Emu & ibis
« on: February 21, 2018, 05:12:05 am »
Em Hotep everyone! -henu-

I'm not posting it in the dream interpretation section on purpose, because I'm concerned less with the dream but more with a part of it.
Are there any records of Emus being sacred or having a connection with a particular or a group of Netjer? Basically I was in an office and an emu approached me. Later when it approached me closer it switched its head to that of an ibis and put its head around my shoulder. Maybe Djehuty chose a bigger bird for this. But still it makes me wonder a bit if there are any other opportunities.

Thanks everyone :)

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Praying
« on: December 26, 2017, 02:25:34 pm »
Em Hotep everyone! ^_^

Recently a Christian friend suggested that I pray twice a day instead of once and add a prayer in the evening. For now I pray every morning after breakfast. Now, the thing is that I don't feel comfortable forcing anything upon myself, especially in the spiritual section. I didn't want to decline so I said I'd consider it. And it got me interested.

What are KO's views on numerous prayers a day? For me it feels a bit like a kid asking a parent for something numerous times in order to get it. In a way it's true but here I'm referring to a simple gratitude prayer.  :)

Any ideas?

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Kephri / Ra
« on: November 25, 2017, 11:19:26 am »
Em Hotep everyone! :)

Recently I've been feeling a bit.. Distant from the Neteru I worship - mainly Bast and Djehuty, but also Wadjet and Heqet (not too personal with them but I think it's worth keeping a good bond with all gods). And after reading another thread here about feeling distant, I began thinking - what would the Neteru, want me to improve or change in my practice? Each day I more and more think about Khepri as the personification of Ra in the morning. And indeed, when I think of Khepri and go to my volunteering place each morning, I feel warm, encouragement, confidence and positivity.

Has anyone had experiences with Khepri? What is he like?

Many thanks ^_^

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / There is and there is?
« on: October 20, 2017, 10:21:49 am »
Em hotep guys! :)

After a conversation with a friend I had a thought. Is it okay if one chooses to show an emotion or work on something that more than one deities is known for, but to worship only one or two deities?

For example... Science, or anything that goes along with creating stuff - I think both Ptah and Djehuty can be involved but I work more with Djehuty. Or on the other scale, love for example - there is Hethert and there is Bast. I feel more connected to Bast here. In short, I feel pulled more towards particular Netjeru than others, even if more than one Netjer is known for the same thing.

Any thoughts?

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Progress
« on: August 24, 2017, 09:38:39 am »
Em Hotep everyone! ^_^

So I had this question for a while now. How did Kemetism change you? That is, when you look at yourself before you became Kemetic (I'm saying Kemetic because some of us are Remetj and some are Shemsu and priests, some are beginners even) and compare yourself to after becoming Kemetic - what has changed? In what way?

What has Kemetism done for me? It gave me a feeling of belonging. For example when you measure a T-shirt or a pair of pants and it fits harmoniously, it's pretty much similar. What happened later was that it allowed me to develop my talents. In a much better way than any other faith. Of course, it includes some non Kemetic reading that contributed to my spirituality, but it feels right.

Also, how did the particular Neteru that you worship (could be divine parents, beloveds) evolve you in your path as a Kemetic?

Djehuty helped me develop my teaching and communication skills, my abilities to learn and understand things. He challenged me but also helped me to believe in myself. Bast helped me to take care of myself,  have the balance between work and rest (because I have an unhealthy habit of working until I'm totally exhausted). Of course together they helped me to cope with my anxiety and help others.

I'll be glad to hear from all of you. :)

Hello everyone! :)

After watching a lot of films and series about mainly Norse and sometimes Kemetic cultures, I realize I know very little about relationships between family members and decided to post a thread about it here. In Norse culture they put a great value to loyalty and acceptance. But let's discuss the Kemetic culture. :)

So umm, basically I have the same questions, but I wonder what were the norms back then and what are the norms today.

1. How do couples find the balance between being one single unit, being together and being two separate individuals that together form this relationship?
2. What was back then the relationship between parents and children and how does it differ from this relationship today?
3. Number two but between siblings.

Many thanks,
Gleb

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Divination
« on: April 20, 2017, 02:38:07 am »
Em Hotep everyone! :)

I apologize in advance if a thread about divination already exists or if I put it in the wrong section..

So umm I wonder if the ancient egyptians had any ways of predicting the future events somehow. Right now I try to focus on the weather and clairvoyance to predict what kind of period in life is going to come soon. Still have some work to do, as always.

Any ideas?

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Daily prayer & sickness
« on: March 28, 2017, 12:08:29 am »
Em Hotep everyone! ^_^

So I have had this question for a while. When you're sick, do you pray to the Neteru as a part of the daily habit? What bothers me here is the "coming clean upon them" part. I don't know if I should pray while being sick..

Thanks in advance ^_^

[PUBLIC] Serving the World: Ma'at In Action / Shadow Work
« on: January 07, 2017, 12:41:25 pm »
Em Hotep everyone! :)

I think it's finally the time for me to undergo the shadow work training, after running from it for so long.
Of course it's going to take time. And from those who already work with it or heard/read about it, what can you say about the subject?
Are there any key points in the whole process of accepting one's shadow?

Senebty ^_^

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / The path of a god
« on: July 20, 2016, 02:10:36 pm »
Em Hotep everyone! -runs across the forum hugging everyone-

I wasn't exactly sure where to post it, so if it's the wrong section, please forgive me and move to the right place.

So I read a lot about the Path of [insert god(dess)'s name]. Especially it came in Kane Chronicles, by Rick Riordan. These books have had a great influence on my belief system and drew me closer to the faith.

So I focus on the paths of Djehuty and Bast. Now when it comes to them, especially Djehuty in a way, though Bast has a huge role in it as well, I think they want me to be less like THEM as persons, but to understand the laws of life and how the universe works, in order to find common understanding and have a wider perspective on things.

It also helps to have a better understanding of things from other religions' perspective. It's important to me when I interact with other religious people, pagan or not.

So how does the path(s) of your god(desses)s come into action? I'm curious. :)

-runs across the forum hugging everyone again-
Sorry I'm weird.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / 365-366
« on: March 30, 2016, 01:50:15 pm »
Em Hotep everyone! :)
I was thinking about the number of days in the year. Now from the beginners course, I remember we have 3 seasons with 120 years each and 5 more days earned by Nut to give birth to her children. Now every 4 years we have one more day in February. What is the view of KO about this additional day?

Em Hotep everyone!
Wow, it's been a really long time since I last entered the forum... I'm really glad to be here again. I can't visit the forum often, so please forgive me. :)

As for the subject, I have a question. Some of you are probably aware of the 7 chakras in the human body. I'm not quite sure where they come from, but their purpose is to develop the human body and abilities. In many ways.

Now, did the ancient egyptians have something like this? How did they develop their abilities, qualities and character? Whom did the ancient egyptians strive to be, or become? I know there was an organization called Per Ankh which was responsible for education and priesthood. But I couldn't find much about it. Please help me out.

Senebty,
Gleb

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Responsibility of using Ma'at
« on: November 14, 2015, 01:00:18 pm »
Em Hotep everyone!
Some of you remember me (it's been a long while since I last posted something). My mother is abusive and controlling. Now I'm having an issue - she wants to control every my move. I am 18 but I depend on her. I'm still in high school and have a 3 year old sibling. Plus I'll be taken to the military a month after finishing high school.
I want to use heka somehow to make my mother give me more freedom, but I don't want her to die or become disabled because then I'll be forced to start working and take care of her and my sister. If not my sister, I couldn't probably care less of my mother's condition, with all the seriousness.
I'm well aware that any use of heka brings a lot of responsibility with itself. What should I do? I even weighed asking someone for divination/reading, but I'm not certain because my whole life I was told such things are bad and can manipulate me. I took the risk only once and agreed to have a reading and it was quite nice. Well, twice to be more accurate.

What do you think?
