[PUBLIC] Fundraising Announcements / Akhu Recipes Needed!!
« on: November 22, 2019, 05:07:34 pm »
Hotep All! ((henu))

I am happy to announce an upcoming project that will have the dual purpose of honoring and nourishing our Akhu, as well as fundraising!
We would like to make a House of Netjer recipe book called (something like) "Foods of our Fore-folk" (it's a working title!)

We are just beginning to collect recipes to include in the book. We are happy to include recipes you have from your own kitchens, as well as those recipes your relatives wrote on the back of Carnation Milk labels and kept in a box on the kitchen window sill!

If possible, please include any information you might have on the relative such as Name, title you knew them by (Nanna, Gramps, Mum, Dad, Pops etc) Dates, relationship to you and maybe a little bio.  We try and will include this in the recipe.

What I am looking for is perhaps something like the entry below.  We would like as many recipes from as many of you as we can get!! Lets make this a true community project that will feed us, the Ka's of your Family, and bring in some funds to allow us to thrive!
When we've collected them all, we'll compile them into a book, have it printed, and sell them for fundraising! Feed yourself, your community, and your Akhu!

Please send your recipes to

Thanks All!!

[PUBLIC] Fundraising Announcements / Thoughts on Home and its worth
« on: May 31, 2019, 12:25:24 pm »
How does one describe a home?

A place of comfort peace and warmth,  A place to kick off your shoes relax and let the stresses of the day drift into the background.  To me the House of Netjer is that my spiritual home.  It is to me a place where disparate people for every corner of the world can meet, shoot the breeze and celebrate our similarities and our differences.

And like many places of comfort at the center of all things is the Mother, the hub around which all things balance.  The one that holds things together, pours oil on troubled waters, puts band-aids on grazed knees, never gets the credit for doing the dishes and making mac and cheese but without whom everyone would drift off into the outer darkness and forget to send birthday cards.

Our mother is Hemet (AUS)  I have known her for 18 years or so now and I have spent a lot of time chatting with her on subjects spiritual and secular, serious and totally silly.

I first met her in person at my first retreat.  It was in the Airport Hilton in Chicago, a very bizarre hotel that consists of 3 completely different style building joined by corridors in a triangle surrounding a pool.  We are sitting around in the foyer trying to spot the Kemetics as they came in.
We had 2 small conference rooms for retreat.  One for preparation and one to hold gatherings and rituals in.  We were the ritual room when she came in. we all stood and Henued  She looked at us and said “Please sit down and relax,  I am just a person”  … and grinned at us.  The humanity and love shone through and made us all feel instantly comfortable  I was still quite “Star Struck” but she is so approachable and warm.
Later that retreat we had a drumming workshop  I was given the honour of playing her mighty goat skin Djembe.  It weighs about 40lb and has a thunderous deep sound.  My hands were sore and red for the rest of the week but I was so happy to make a lot of noise.
We presented her that year with a Senet board we made and she trashed me soundly at it.
And the comments about Khai eating his Butt Make me giggle to this day.  (I had a huge Butt steak at a restaurant for dinner one night and have yet to live it down)

At retreat last year Djedet and I had terrible car trouble and I was stranded in Vancouver WA  for another 9 days after  retreat ended.
Every night Hemet drove over the 15 miles from Portland to spend time with me each evening.  We went out for dinner, pizza one night, Indian another, Mongolian another and always found a way to work in ice cream or pie for desert. This just shows the kindness and commitment of the lady.  I was happy for the company because a strip motel by the free way is bleak at the best of times  but knowing I was stuck there she went out of her way to make sure my needs were taken care of and that I had company for dinner.

How much is a Home worth.  To me what ever I can give.
How much is a spiritual leader who can make silly jokes about Mike Myers, teach us things of faith love and strength, work out rituals and prayer and guide us heart and soul?

To coin a phrase …. priceless

Senebty and love

[PUBLIC] Fundraising Announcements / So close
« on: April 25, 2019, 10:17:24 am »
Hey all.

Just wanted to say we are SO close to our fund raising target for April. Only $363.72 to go.

Please seriously consider sending in a few bucks towards our goal. Every little helps. If everyone contributed $5 - $10 a month we would be golden.
When you think of it as a single coffee or a BigMac it is not a lot. But if we all give that much our costs would be easily covered.

Thank you

Hotep all. (Henu)

Once a Divined Remetj becomes a Shemsu, they are given a Shemsu Name from their Parent(s). What is involved in getting this name?

When a Divined Remetj lets Hemet know they wish to become Shemsu, a name is needed.

Hemet sets up an altar for the individual with offerings and asks the Netjeru of the Shemsu to tell her the name. (If Hemet has liquor available for the altars, she spends about $10-20 on offerings, more if she is out of liquor. Depending on the deities the exact items change, but everyone gets multiple things. She tries for fruit, baked goods, sweets and savories, and more than one thing to drink.)

Hemet writes down what she hears.

Hemet researches the result from the ritual, using Kemetic dictionaries, to learn how the name would be spelled in hieroglyphs and rendered into English, what it means, and how it would be pronounced, and prepares this information for the next naming ceremony. Such research can take anywhere from 1-4 hours depending on how intricate the given name is.

So, for one Shemsu name, at least 2 hours is needed, if it is a simple name.

Thank all

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Hello Again

Hotep All,

I have been AWOL for a few years, but like a man being beaten around the head with a Was Sceptre i am being told to come back

I am KhaiPtah (Ptah Arises In his Glory) Son of Ptah and Beloved of his 2 wives Bast and Sekhmet.  I was Originally a member from 2001 until I got lost in the shuffle of house keeping in 2012-ish.  I was Elevated to Shemsu-Ankh at retreat 2001.  I am also Married to Djedetmiwesir ( 22 years now) for any who remember her (She sends her love)

I made the mistake of listening to someone with no authority that i was no longer welcome here and let my fee bads keep me away.  I should have never done this.

I have never stopped following my father and his wives (my shrine was once described and the happy Polyamory shrine.   I know they are in different Marriages but a good joke never dies).

I have a TON of catching up to do, Hopefully before to long i will be able to get My Ptah Devotional page back up.

Please excuse Typos etc  have mild dyslexia from a TBI from years ago.  I also suffer from English (correct) spelling of words.  I am also sometimes too sarcastic for my own good.

Really looking forward to catching up with old friends and making a lot of new ones.

KhaiPtah ;D
