I've become curious if anyone has other Names that they call "Mom" or "Dad" that were not who came forth as a parent during your RPD. Bast is my Mother and I always think and address her as such. But I've caught myself calling Taweret Mom almost every time I think of her. I have the same problem with Ra. I think of him as Dad and I scold myself for it. I feel guilty. Bast is the one who claimed me so why do I automatically think of these two as parents as well? I always apologize to Bast when I catch myself and claim that she is still my only spiritual mother. I really do feel bad, even if I have never caught heat for it.

I think I know why I do it. Taweret is a very motherly figure, and I latch on to that and can't help but feel her energy as maternal and so without thinking I address her as Mom. Ra is a very strong, fatherly figure in my eyes. So once again that energy is messing up with my internal dialogue.

I still feel guilty though and so I wonder if anyone else has this problem? Maybe even with gods and goddesses outside of the Kemetic Orthodoxy. How do you deal with the situation?

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Too soon for communication?
« on: July 25, 2014, 04:48:20 pm »
Two weeks ago I decided that I was going to start working to become a Shemsu. I signed up for the beginners class and created a shrine to the Netjer. I have not cleansed the area or myself with any sacred words or natron yet, I have just been providing offerings and lighting incense. During my evening dedications I communicate my words of thanks or prayers and then proceed to meditate. Every time I meditate I have run into Netjeru, especially the first time I meditated in front of my shrine. I've spoken with Anubis, Ra twice, and have had a very pleasant time hanging out with Taweret.

Taweret presence is very consistent during meditation. I find staying with her to be the most enjoyable part of my meditations and am becoming more attached to her than I am with my long time idols Anubis or Bast. She doesn't speak but the vibes she sends my way and the calmness I receive is surprisingly comforting to me.

I guess I want your opinions on if all these communications just might be my excited mind creating scenarios, or are possibly true interactions. How soon is too soon to receive signs from the Netjer?

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Hello There
« on: July 23, 2014, 12:15:24 am »
I suppose introductions are in order. Hello everyone, my name is Casandra, or Kit, I am 24 and reside in Arizona. I enjoy reading comic books, playing video games occasionally, and working on my art during all free hours of the day. I am soon to be married and have four animals/children. My cat Pudge, Tobi the dog, Demyx the bearded dragon, and our newest member is Solid the milk snake. My current job is as a puppy caretaker but I'm working on getting a career at my local zoo in the near future. I am part of the   daemian community and my daemon's name is Ryusan.

Before coming across Kemetic Orthodoxy I did not consider myself to be very religious and did not follow under any faith. After pushing my hesitations aside and applying for the beginners' course I am now very excited about all of this. October can't come soon enough! Since applying I have put together a small shrine and have attempted to start meditations and simple, casual communications with the Netjer.  I originally applied just to learn more about KO but every time I sit in front of my shrine I get a flood of positive emotions and I can't see myself straying from this path. I am very happy and excited to be here.
