Em Hotep everyone, I just wanted to announce that I am set up for my RPD tomorrow afternoon at 4 pm PST, 7 pm EST and I am so excited I probably won't sleep tonight! :D

I'm so happy to finally be getting it, this is something I've wanted and thought about for a long time, ever since I first even found out what Kemetism and the worship of the Netjer even was.

I have a feeling of a few Names that I think might show in my lineup, but either way, I'm excited to meet my Parents and Beloveds and form a deeper relationship with them and deepen my faith. :)

Will post back here once I find out my line up! So Giddy!

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Advice on Approaching Serqet?
« on: January 15, 2016, 01:02:59 am »
Hotep everyone- as some of you might know from older posts I've made, I struggle very very much with major depression, suicidal inclination, low self-esteem, and other mental illnesses. I see a therapist and I'm on medication, but sometimes, it just doesn't seem to help me to feel any better at all. :(

I was wondering if approaching Serqet would be beneficial to help me to heal in time. There are some wounds I just feel like I can't heal by myself. Would She be able to help me in such a way do you think?

If so, how would I approach Her in a respectful way and show my intention (asking for Her help in emotional healing)? I've actually never approached a Name of Netjer before... all my experiences with Them has been from Them approaching me first, so I'm a little bit intimidated! Anyone who has worked with Her that can offer me advice would be most appreciated.

Thank you so much. I'm looking for any help I can get.

My fiancee brought up this amazing man to me last night in a discussion we were having. I remember reading about him years ago, and hadn't followed his story very closely. I was shocked and saddened to see he had passed away on July 1st, 2015.

I just wanted to share this man's story with you all.

Nicholas Winton was a British humanitarian who, just before the dawn of the Second World War, saved around 669 children (mostly Jewish) from Czechoslovakia. He arranged operation "Kindertransport" to find homes and safe passage for these children to Britain. The work was, of course, not without risk, especially as the War began to develop in the late 1930s.

He did this by setting up trains to run to take the children into Netherlands, to depart to England from the ferry at the Dutch town of Hoek Van Holland. This was one of the most difficult parts, as the Netherlands closed their borders to any Jewish refugees after Kristallnacht in 1938.

He had never told his story to anyone, and it was undiscovered for decades.

In 1988, Nicholas' wife had found a detailed scrapbook in their attic, containing a detailed account of the children he saved, including pictures, parent's names, and the addresses of families who took them in. His wife, with the help of a Holocaust researcher, was able to find 80 of the children he had saved.

The world found out of his acts in February, 1988. Nicholas was invited to be an audience member for the BBC show, "That's Life". They showed Nicholas' scrapbook at one point during the show, and the host then asked if anybody in the audience owed their lives to the man, to which over two dozen people stood. The video is below, if you'd like to view this.

Nicholas passed peacefully into the Duat on July 1st, 2015, at the age of 106, 76 years to the day after 241 children he had saved escaped Prague by train.

To me, this is one of my favorite stories in all of history. This "British Oskar Schindler" is an amazing example of a Champion of Ma'at, doing everything he did to protect what he felt was right even when the rest of the European world was against him. It was not for fame, nor glory; no-one even knew of his exploits for more than forty years. It was simply a humble man doing what was right in a world when no one else would.

This, to me, is the ultimate example of someone living in Ma'at, upholding true justice and compassion to these children who may have never had a chance to live any other way. Ma'at has prevailed.

This man's story is an inspiration to me, and I hope you'll enjoy it as well. I keep a little something in remembrance of his acts on my altar.

May he find peace and comfort in the Duat.

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Hello to other beginners!
« on: June 26, 2015, 10:29:46 pm »
Em hotep everyone, I already made an intro post a while back when I first signed up, but now that the beginner's class is getting closer and closer I just want to share my excitement with other newcomers!

I haven't gotten any emails yet but I'm so very excited to begin!  :) Just wanted to offer a friendly hello to all those others out there who might be waiting on emails of their own and say I'm excited to begin the classes together with you!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Application Inquiry?
« on: May 15, 2015, 01:51:09 pm »
Em hotep, all- I have a question about the application that maybe someone here can help me with.

I've sent a message to HoN directly, but in the meantime maybe someone can help me answer it on the forums.

I sent in my application for the June beginner's class immediately after the one in March started. I got the confirmation email and etc. I'm wondering if I'll have to resend the application once June hits since it has been so long since they have received it, or will it still be on file?

Anyone have any experience with early applications?

Thank you! Just looking for some insight while I wait for an official response.

Hotep, everyone. I hope you don't mind me posting this here, I feel as if I have nowhere else to turn...

Firstly let me preface by saying I have major depressive disorder. When I get slumps, they're BAD. I had already been on the path to one, then last week my boyfriend (let's call him D) lost his home which I posted about in the Prayers section (his dog passed). Days later, we found out a family member of his (K) has been taking out fraudulent credit cards in D's name and has charged hundreds on them. We're struggling with going through the affidavit process and trying to figure out just what was going on, as well as trying to prove that D shouldn't have to pay.

That whole situation is extremely stressful and it's so hard to see someone you care about hurt... :( Then, this afternoon a family member passed away. I wasn't very close to her and haven't seen her in a while, but that just makes it all worse... I feel like I won't have closure that way since I was never able to say goodbye or show her where I am in my life now. I will try to seek solace and closure with her through the Netjer and prayer. A family friend also passed away today, he drowned which is awful to me and I can't think of a worse way to pass.

I'm sorry if this is long and rambling, I just feel very lost and depressed right now and don't know where to turn. Just looking for someplace to rant and maybe find an ear to listen. I've been praying and trying to connect to the Netjer as often as possible, especially to Yinepu after the two deaths today. May they find rest in the Duat.

Thanks for listening and Senebty.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Pets in the Duat?
« on: April 28, 2015, 11:03:48 pm »
I searched the forum but didn't find a topic like this, but I could have been using the wrong terms- my apologies if something like this already exists.

I'm wondering what KO believes about pets/animals in the afterlife? I've been thinking about it since my boyfriend's dog passed away in the recent house fire he had. What beliefs does KO have on animal souls, are they brought into the Duat as well?

Thank you for reading and any answers you might give, I just found myself extremely curious about the topic and wanting to know more from other members.

I don't like my second post on here to be me asking for prayer, but a serious thing and I just would be more at peace to request prayer from all who might be kind enough to do so.

Today, the house where my boyfriend lives burnt down. He lived in a converted basement with a friend and the landlord lived upstairs with his girlfriend. Nobody was hurt, but the entire first floor is burnt to cinders.

His two dogs died in the fire and the home is now condemned and unlivable, so he has nowhere to go. I still live at home because of finances, so there is no way he can come stay with me and I feel absolutely terrible because of it. He has no phone right now because of family issues and I have no way to contact him or find out where he is.

I pray that he's in a safe place right now and that he could recover at least some of his belongings like clothes and essentials. My gut is in a knot and I can't stop feeling awful- just recently he lost his father and his car was in an accident. I wish the bad luck would stop happening to him and I've been praying to the Netjer for his safety.

Thanks everyone for reading, I'm just really shaken up and crying and don't know where else to turn or go.

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Em Hotep, all!
« on: April 25, 2015, 10:30:16 pm »
Em hotep everybody, I'm new here (obviously!) and just wanted to pop my head in and say hello.

My name is Rachael. I'm in my 20s and have been devoted to Yinepu for seven years in personal devotion. I've never tried to network with other Kemetics and I've never joined the faith 'officially', and I feel like now is a point in my life where I'm desiring to go deeper in my faith.

A little about me; my interests include video gaming, anime, reading about history, learning languages, and taxidermy.

I signed up for the next beginner's course in June and I hope I get in, I'm eager to take it and eventually have my RPD! I realize you shouldn't focus on a particular netjer before taking the RPD, but even though my devotion right now is for Yinepu I'm very open to any who might come forward and wish to share their knowledge with me and lead me in life.

Thanks for reading, I hope to have a good time here!
