[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Beginner/Explaining Questions
« on: October 29, 2015, 11:07:26 pm »
Hello my name is Amanda and I'm new to the boards! Recently I have stumbled across the Kemetic Orthodoxy religion and fell in love with it at first sight. On my current path of life, I've found that my current religion is no longer something I would like to partake in, as it doesn't fit my moral beliefs or even set too good of an example for others to follow.

I do have some questions though that I've not really been able to find answers for on the FAQ or about pages that I would like to ask though. Mainly because I live with a family who practices Judaism and I'd like to be able to give them honest answers to their questions.

My boyfriend is curious about the shrines. I told him that they're basically just used to honor the gods and is like "a mini temple at home" since there seems to be no big temple except for like the main shrine in Illinois. He has more of a supernatural concern as if it's going to bring in bad spirits or other dark entities. I've told him it wouldn't but that there are prayers and stuff that I could recite to protect the house if that would make him feel there a better way to explain them perhaps? I'm also not sure of how else to explain the religion, as I'm not sure what they'll want to know exactly. How have you come out and told others and explained it?

I also would like to know what it's like day by day within the religion. Is there a set time I would have to worship? Am I bound to a certain diet? What's it like?

I had a bunch of other questions but I'm currently drawing a blank. And if this is in the wrong spot please feel free to move it to the right one and I do apologize for it. I plan on signing up for the beginners course in December if there's one because I think it's too late for the November one.
