[PUBLIC] Welcome! / A Slow and Steady Return
« on: August 24, 2021, 11:58:15 am »
Em hotep! *henu*

To those that know me - HI! I’m back after taking a while off to deal with life (mostly work being on horrible long shifts, and a smidge of my own emotions coming into play). Places to be, people to see, that sorta thing. I got myself onto an apprenticeship, so that’s been a huge boost to my own morale. I… sorely needed the change.

For those who don’t know me - HI! I’m Temimensenu (Temi), son of Bast and Sobek, beloved of Amun, Sekhmet-Hethert, and Yinepu-Wepwawet. I first joined the House in August 2017, and for the longest time considered it my second home. Outside of this, I like playing video games, creative writing, online roleplaying, and lurking on Discord. I *very* much prefer the indoors!

I also used to help out with the Beginners Classes, which was immense fun and I look so forward to getting into that again (if Rev. Tanebet will put up with me again ;) )

I look forward to meeting all the new faces since I was last here.

And, well… I kept seeing Yinepu around, so I guess Someone (or a lot of Somebodies) wanted me back!

(Bear with me as I’m struggling to word this)

A bit of backstory - yesterday I was sat down with my lineup, just letting visualisation come to me. Nice time.

Interesting thing was - Dad and Mom had more of an anthro form, complete with tails. They’ve also been human-bodied with tails.

Now, human-bodied I’ve heard of, full feral animal form I’ve heard of. But I haven’t seen much of the anthro form being around (and interestingly enough that form was only of my Parents, all of the Beloveds were of human-bodied form)

And I was wondering if anyone else experienced this, because it’s pretty interesting, to me anyway.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / A few Akhu shrine questions
« on: December 10, 2017, 08:17:22 am »
Em hotep everyone,

A day or so ago I keep getting (what I consider) little nudges to move my Akhu shrine into our dining room, which has more traffic. I’m thinking to do it, but first a few questions since it’d be more public.

1 - Would I need to re-purify the shrine after I moved it?

2 - I have two bowls for water and food offerings, how long do you leave the offerings on the shrine for, or do you remove them both after the fact?
(Currently, I let the water evaporate on its own)

3 - Do you leave the water topped up every day, or do you let it empty as and when?

Many thanks, and have a great day.

[PUBLIC] FAQ: RPD (Rite of Parent Divination) / RPD time limit?
« on: August 20, 2017, 12:20:00 pm »
So, I'm a long long way off this, I know. Still curious.

To my knowledge, as you are made a Remetj after the Beinngers Class if you so choose, you are then (after a period of time) sent paperwork for the RPD.

My question is, after you become a Remetj and are sent the paperwork for RPD, is there a time limit as to when you can apply for your RPD? Say you thought about picking it up after "anything else" for a year or two, would it still be there in so-called availability?

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Beginners Class Application Question
« on: August 20, 2017, 12:15:52 pm »
You've probably seen tens of hundreds of these threads, so I'll keep this one short.

Weeks ago I applied to start the October Beginners Class, and even though at one question confused me, I filled it out as best I could.

However, looking back and going way back through the related forum questions, it seems like that one question comes up numerous times in a 'what does it mean?' way. And from that I realised I'd misinterpreted it - I'd answered it in the way of what I could bring in myself, not what qualities I had. I could have done so much more...

Although I know this'll probably get some strange looks, would the way it had been answered affect if I got accepted into the next class or not?

With that...

What would need to be put down in order to not be accepted? Demeaning, trolling behaviour for example.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / UK sources of Natron?
« on: August 19, 2017, 01:11:37 pm »
After learning/reading that I don't need to absolutely coat myself in it, I got looking.

Now, the majority of online sellers seem to be in the US, and from my varying experiences with international shipping... charges/customs usually ramp up the price.

I know I do have the option of making it myself (from brief reading, I think it's bicarbonate of soda and salt), but I don't think my parents would appreciate natron/its components caked onto their saucepans...

Anyone know of any UK-based sources?

Or maybe someone has some tips/tricks to making it.

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / The occurrence of "ghost" limbs
« on: August 15, 2017, 12:41:20 pm »
Some of you might know of the term "phantom limb" - where you feel a 'ghost' limb that isn't really there, yet at times it can feel like it's a part of your body.

And I was wondering (since other entities like headmates, spirit guides, and even just identifying with something can cause phantom limbs), whether the presence of the god/esses themselves can cause these sorts of sensations to an individual?

If someone has got any experience of what I'm (attempting to) describe, I'd love to read about it.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / What's the Difference? (if any)
« on: August 15, 2017, 12:19:14 pm »
So, reading through here I see people talking about formal and informal worship, and I'm curious.

First, you have the Senut shrine which I would imagine is the daily formal worship. But then people talk about informal shrines, and I wonder if they're used one and the same, or if you have to have two differing shrines for both formal and informal worship.

Also, what does 'informal worship' really emcompass? Does it count if you just sit there talking to them in your head?

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Hey Everyone

Hi there, I'm Mirath.

I'm 22, FTM transgender, and I live in the rural city of Hereford. How every great dating profile starts, right?

I'm relatively new to this, having signed up to the next Beginners Class. However, I've been lurking these forums for the past few days since then, so I've learnt a bit here and there.

For a while I considered myself agnostic due to feeling like there was something watching over me, that there was something missing despite knowing my own identity, and that there was/were some higher power(s) present, and I've always been drawn to polytheistic religions over monotheistic ones for reasons unknown to me.

I've been back and forth lurking on this site for a few months, but about a week or so ago it feels like I'm being pulled towards sticking my head in deeper beyond the surface-skim that I usually do haha. I was first introduced to this unofficially through my A Level Archaeology course, so a good few years ago, and in some strange way it made sense.

Unlike the seeming majority of you here, I wasn't led here by the gods (that I directly know of), nor leaving any other religion behind - but somehow I feel it's the right path, whether I end up here for eternity or not, heh. I don't think I'm drawn to any particular entity, not just for the sake of trying to not be biased, even then I'm quite a sceptical person and not really one to jump to a spiritual conclusion at first glance. I question, heh...

My parents don't really care too much about religion, and were accepting-ish when I came out as transgender, but even knowing this I don't quite know how to go about explaining this to them. But I guess we shall see.
