Sometimes entertaining, sometimes highly inaccurate! What are your favorite examples and are there any that are more legitimate?

Prompted by the season premiere of The Librarians which aired yesterday, and featured Ap/ep, "the Egyptian god of chaos" who has been resurrected and wants to unleash "pure evil." I'm torn between unnerved by so many frank references to the uncreated one, and surprised relief that for once it's not Set filling this villain slot.

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Wow, it's been awhile
« on: September 10, 2016, 02:30:52 pm »
Four years according to the stats and probably longer since I was actively around. I found myself missing the place today and realized I could just...come back???

Anyway hello again, I am DDog or Rob. I first discovered KO ten years ago and still haven't managed to take the beginner class, but maybe this year. Names I feel particularly close to would be Shu, Nut, the JQLs, and Sekhmet-Hethert.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Seventy Day Ceremony for the Dead?
« on: August 04, 2010, 06:47:10 am »
I remember hearing awhile ago about a seventy day ceremony for those who have recently passed. From what I can tell from the rest of the Internet I'm guessing it's tied to the embalming process and the spirit's journey to the Duat.

But I'm not sure how that translates to modern day. Does Kemetic Orthodoxy have versions of these ceremonies, or is it something only the priests know, or have people simply adapted their own rituals from an ancient source that I could also look at?

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Bes
« on: July 13, 2008, 12:52:08 pm »
I couldn't find any Bes threads on Naisenu's handy list, so I'm starting one.

I don't know Bes very well, but several times I've been inspired to offer Him something. So far: mango juice, pad thai, and orange cream soda. The thing is, the wiki page on Him is not very expansive, and while there are scads of Bast-lings and Yinepups, the only so-far divined child of Bes is Bestekeni, and I can't remember if He is a Beloved of anyone. I don't want to bother Tekeni ALL the time about her Father, so I was wondering what experiences have been had with Bes and what people know about Him. :)
