[PUBLIC] FAQ: RPD (Rite of Parent Divination) / Aset in RPD
« on: April 11, 2021, 02:16:32 pm »
Hello  :D I was reading old topics about the RPD and from what I gathered, there are Netjeru that always appear together, like Hethert/Sekhmet, Yinepu/Wepwawet and Nit/Nebthet/Seshat.

I've also seen a lot of people who have Aset-Serqet as Mother or Beloved but sometimes it's just Aset. I've heard that in KO Aset and Serqet are seen as aspects of each other, just like the other examples I've mentioned (Nit/Nebthet/Seshat is a complete mystery to me because I've never heard of Seshat being connected to Nit or Nebthet before!)

In short: does Aset always appear in RPD as Aset-Serqet and some people just drop the second name in their signatures for simplicity, or can She appear as Aset, no Serqet in sight?

Thanks everyone!

Welcome! I shall hopefully be joining you in the beginners class. It's taken me twelve years but I've finally applied  ;D

All things at the right time, right? I thought about applying last year but I was very busy (I still am but I'm closer to being less busy /o/) and I wanted to learn more about Kemeticism by myself first, to see how I felt about it etc. See you in beginner's class!  ;)

Em hotep & welcome, Kalli! I hope you enjoy the Beginner's Class :)

Qenebty!! I follow your blog and I should say, your post series about your RPD was the final push I needed to stop overthinking so much and just apply for the class  ;D

Hi, you may call me Kalli. For those who aren't familiar with Greek, my screen name means "beautiful flow". I'm currently a Hellenic polytheist but I've been increasingly pushed to learn more about Kemeticism. I ended up falling in love and feeling completely overwhelmed, so I decided to enroll for Beginner's Class 60 to help sort things out!

Special shout out to Embia and Ta-idet for the support and for, I believe, opening the way for one more Hellenic joining this beautiful religion.

Thanks everyone! <3

Em hotep 🤗

Nebthet is explicitly associated with the West as I believe She is even referred to as “Hethert in Amenti.” She eases the pain of mourning, Her hair is said to be of mummy linen strips, and She guides the Akhu.

Nut is also explicitly associated with the West as those who have passed join Nut in Her belly as Akhu.

Honestly.... just about every deity has associations with Amenti. Amun has epithets referring to Him carrying out the secrets of the Duat. Djehuty and Geb and Others are present at judgment, and Djehuty holds all the knowledge of the Duat. Khnum has epithets relating Him to the Duat, etc.

Is there a specific role you’re looking for in Netjeru associated with the West?

*vibrates at Hethert-Amenti mentions*

Like Amunraembia says, most Netjeru are going to have this kind of connection, either really obviously, or in passing. Wepwawet for example is "Lord of the West", "Lord of the Duat", and "He Who Opens the Beautiful Way in the West" (the latter specifically as Wepwawet of Lower Egypt).

It's just kind of a big deal sort of place, so, the Gods get linked to it in big or small ways very easily. Pick a God and I'm sure we can shoehorn them in there somehow :P

That's what I figured ;) I don't know if I have any specific role in mind but I was thinking about Netjeru with epithets that link Them explictly with the West, like Foremost of the Westerners or Lord of the West as Isha mentioned.

Hello everyone! I'm going to properly introduce myself soon, I promise! I was hit by this question and wanted to post it in here before I forget!

As far as I'm aware most Netjeru have at least some connection with the afterlife. What I am curious about is: for which of Them do we have an explicit connection with the West (for example, in epithets)? Besides the most famous ones, like Wesir, Yinepu, Hethert, Meretseger, and (I imagine) Sokar? Thanks in advance! :)
