Em hotep! Lesson 3 and the chats were very informative and have answered most of my questions about Senut, I just had a couple left that I either forgot earlier, or only thought about recently. Em hotep! Sorry this got overlooked.... Out of curiosity... I have gotten familiar with the order of the fourfold libation by now, and I was wondering if there's a special meaning in having them in that order? That's something that you'd have to ask Hemet directly, as those are words she wrote. About the offering bowls, in the chats it was sometimes mentioned as "cup or bowl", but in the pdf it's always "bowl", so I was wondering if that's the preferred type of container for offerings? Possibly the bowl is more traditional? However, lots of people in the House use plates and/or cups instead of bowls, and that's perfectly acceptable. Japanese sake sets are popular, for example, and for the water purification I use a crystal glass that Netjer threw in my way to make a point. ^_^ And this one is not a question, but there was something in the lesson 3 pdf that was throwing me off: How do I make a shrine? What do I put in it? All Senut shrines require three basic items: a bowl for dry offerings, a bowl for liquid offerings, and a light (a lamp or candle). That really should say we need three bowls: in addition to dry and liquid offerings, there's also the fourfold libation which needs its own bowl/cup. I didn't pick up on that until Rev Tanebet mentioned it in the last chat. (A big thank you for that; I didn't even realize I was confused about this until after it was pointed out.) In hindsight, it's obvious (libations happen first, then offerings needs their own bowls obviously), but as someone who's new to this, I completely missed that. At first I thought the libations go in the liquid offering bowl, because of the way the quote above says that the two bowls are all you need besides the light. So I think it might be a good idea to add "and a bowl for libations" to the pdf's list of things that all Senut shrines require, since that's definitely a necessary item, and someone who's new could miss that and not even realize it.
Good comments! Thanks for this--it's something we'll bear in mind for the next revision. ^_^

Em hotep! The question came up in tonight's chat of where to find Kemetic symbols to use as amulets, and I just remembered this shop by our own Bezenwepwy: On the Temple Steps. Amazing work, and if what you want isn't there, they're happy to take requests. Shefyt

What I do to keep the symbolism is take a pinch and rub my fingers together five times, letting the natron drizzle out, and then do it again so I have the 2 x 5. But yes, counting out tiny grains isn't necessary. ^_^

Em hotep, Bear, and welcome! I originally came to the House because I was seeking structure in my religion, so I can relate. ^_^ I'm one of the beginners class instructors, so I'll look forward to seeing you there.

(I'm in New Jersey, not terribly far from Philly. ^_^ )

I reaaaaally want to go to Zagazig (aka Per-Bast aka Bubastis). There's not a whole lot remaining of the actual temple, but I just want to stand in the place and breathe the air. And there's a university museum nearby that contains artifacts found at the site.
(I've been to Egypt once, although not there--it's off the beaten track. I'm not sure I could say what my favorite sites were. ^_^ )

Em hotep, Nofret Hathor! I have family in Hungary, and I've visited a few times--lovely to see someone from there who's interested in Kemet. ^_^ . I'm one of the instructors, so I'll look forward to seeing you in the class.

Em hotep and welcome! For what it's worth, I'm one of the course instructors, and I only ever see names, emails, and city/state/country. I'm pretty sure that phone numbers and specific addresses are only seen by Hemet, and maybe Rev. Tanebet as the chief instructor. If you have any questions about the course, I'm more than happy to answer them, either here or by PM.
Senebty,
Shefyt
