Just want to thank everyone who has been replying to this post. It's been so intensely enlightening.

This offers a new perspective to me, thank you. Perhaps She is approaching me this way for a reason. I've prayed and asked Her much, but I continue to only get very subtle reminders of Her presence, and nothing more. I admit my heart feels a pretty intense longing for Her, but I'll try to be more patient.

Thank you all for your input. It was very informative and warming. :)

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / How Sekhmet-Hethert approaches
« on: December 15, 2010, 10:58:30 pm »
Em hotep!

More and more recently there are hints at Sekhmet-Hethert's presence in my life. Regular surprise references in my readings, statues popping up on websites and catalogs, new interactions with folks who I later find out are devoted to Her, etc- subtle things like this.

However, that's just the thing. These hints are subtle. And from my understanding, Sekhmet at least is not the most subtle of Goddesses. I admit though that I have not interacted with Hethert at all, and so these new hints to She and Sekhmet are a bit surprising and overwhelming.

Has anyone else ever been approached this way by Them? Obviously we all experience the Netjer differently, but I've always heard from Sekhmet kids at least that She WILL make Herself known, whether you want Her to or not. So this is somewhat strange to me. I suppose I am curious if anyone else here has ever had Her approach this way.

Thank you in advance!

Senebty!

Editing to add: I admit I am completely lacking in knowledge as to how Sekhmet-Hethert differs from Them separately as individuals, if at all. Any enlightenment on this is welcome, as well. :)

Em hotep and welcome, both from a fellow newbie as well as a fellow Pennsylvanian. :)

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: KO stance on controversial topics?

That actually helps greatly. I assumed all of that was true, but you know what they say about assuming. ;) It helps much to have this clarified, thank you. :)

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / KO stance on controversial topics?
« on: December 13, 2010, 04:29:14 pm »
Most organized religions have set stances on various issues, and being a beginner, I am truly curious as to Kemetic Orthodoxy's stances on said topics.

These issues tend to be controversial, but I'll list some of them anyway. Homosexuality, abortion and sex before marriage are big ones. I ask not out of a personal need for validation but rather because I wish to know the viewpoints of the religion I am considering. I hope that makes sense?

If there is anywhere on the website or in the forums that answers questions of this kind, I kindly accept redirection to them. I may have simply missed an obvious source on these topics, leading me to post here directly.

I thank you all in advance. :)

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Greetings!

Em hotep, all! I tend to make very long introductions, but I'll try to keep this one short.

I've known about the HoN for many years, but have never felt truly inspired to make contact or a commitment of any kind. Recently however I've felt a very strong urge- nay, almost a need- to explore the possibilities here. I've taken a week or so to deeply meditate on/ponder the issue, and I believe the time has come for me to accept that, for whatever reason, I am being told strongly try to explore what HoN can offer me, and what I can offer it.

I've followed and honoured various Names in the past 12ish years. I've been Neo-Pagan most of that time but in the past few years have focused solely on the Netjer and what religion truly meant in Ancient Egypt. I think I'm ready to learn more, and potentially devote myself to a stricter path. I plan to apply for the Beginner's Class coming up in February, and hopefully that will be the beginning, or continuation even, of this journey.

About me? I'm a 25 year old young woman living in Pennsylvania, in the United States. I've been with my mate for over eight years, and we are the parents to two beautiful cat kids- a torbie named Clarice and a tortie named Autumn. My interests include hiking, camping, gaming, writing, sculpting, and toy collecting, among many other things. I don't currently work- I'm on disability for a few different physical and mental health issues. It's a struggle but we get by. I'm generally a pretty content person. ^_^

Well, so much for keeping this short! I feel I could write so much more, too. *chuckle* I'll stop for now though. Thank you all for allowing me to be here. I hope to truly learn and share with you.

Senebty,
Khesbet
