[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: How private are you about your faith?
« on: December 19, 2015, 10:20:19 am »
It depends. For the most part I am very private about my religion as a whole. I'll talk to my boyfriend about it or when I go to pantheacon but that's really about it.

I just really don't feel the need honestly. Sometimes I'll read books about mythology or religion at work but I tend to just pass it off with an "I like to study religion for fun".

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Prayer and Shrines
« on: December 16, 2015, 02:04:02 pm »
"First off, can one pray without a shrine?"

Yup! You can pray anyway or time you feel right. Senut is simply a formal prayer, informal prayer is a different creature.

"Secondly, how do handle moving a shrine?"
I've had to do this a few times now. Personally I respectfully pack everything up in its own box(es) and keep a close eye on the shrine items (I have lots of breakables). Once I'm all moved and ready to set up, I take a cleansing shower with natron and set up the shrine. I'll sprinkle everything with natron water and incense as I go.

Does that help?

Welcome back :)

Both my beloveds are aspected. I would say I honor both but one is more present. In my interactions, it is almost like Wepwawet and Sekhmet are the relations and Yinepu and Het-Hert are favorite non-relations. Hard for me to put this into words that make sense. Everyone gets shrine space and offerings. Everyone is represented around my home but Mom, Wepwawet and Sekhmet are the ones I "interact" with the most.

Mixing is fine as long as it feels right. The Netjer will make it known to you if they want a different arrangement. You don't have to keep them covered. I have most of my shrines covered but they are in a cabinet and I have cats that can reach them.
