B is also for blood and purity in Kemeticism

I, too, see Her in various cat forms. I very often get the black panther, especially when I'm asking for Her protection. Elsewise, a sandy covered cat, often with ear tufts, of ranging size depending on Her mood, or so it seems!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Places of Worship in the UK?

I wonder if UK citizens can even become US legal clergy? Clergy doesn't work the same way in the UK as in the US, so we over here may be well and truly stumped, which is a shame.

I usually see Bast in one of three forms; She is either a lioness-headed woman, a black panther, or a large desert cat.

The panther is definitely when She is acting as Protector. I see Her more often as fully feline than humanoid.

I've also applied for the next Beginner's Class. Can't wait!

True enough about the RPD. At the end of the day, Bast has been my 'primary', as it were, Goddess for the last few years and I don't see Her going anywhere anytime soon! So even if She isn't in my RPD, She is still a Goddess who has a very special place in my heart. Thank you both for clearing that up for me!

Now I have another silly question about applying for the beginner's course: How in-depth do they want our answers to be? At the moment I'm just keeping things as concise as I can, assuming they have loads of applications to read through that all pretty much say the same thing!

Thank you all for your comments and recommendations! Looks like getting both is the way forward! :D Better get working on my application then ^.^

Definitely curious about the RPD too... Not sure if I'd be brave enough to actually be Divined, though, I think I'd be really disappointed is Bast isn't in there somewhere xD

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Beginners Class vs the Prayerbook
« on: March 08, 2012, 05:20:31 pm »
Em hotep!

Just a quick question for those of you out there who've both taken the Beginner's Class and read The Ancient Egyptian Prayerbook by the Nisut.

Which would you say gave you the better grounding in KO?

I've been a follower of Bast for years, and She's been pushing me to learn more about KO (and particularly the Senut rite, but as I know so little about it I could be misunderstanding Her ^.^). I'd like to take the Beginner's class when it next comes around, but I believe this won't be for a number of weeks? And if the book gives a decent enough grounding then I can get that, and on the basis of it decide if I want to devote the time to the class and study KO in more depth.

Any advice/opinions will be gratefully recieved!!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Where do you buy Statues?

I got my statue of Bast from a little independent shop in Lincoln.

I don't know what you'd all think of the Kemetic selection at, but I love that site and bought my statue of Herne from them :)

Hi all, thanks for accepting me here.
My name's Kat, I'm 22 and have been exploring and practicing Paganism since I was about 13.

I will admit that my practises are, currently, rather heavily influenced by all the neo-Wicca/neopagan material out there. However, I have always loved the Goddess Bast and the Ancient Egyptian myths and wanted to explore some form of Egyptian reconstructionism... so here I am!

Please excuse my newbie-ish ignorance, I've been doing what research I can but obviously don't have much of a clue at this point.
