Heru-Mekhenty-irty or Heru-Khenty-en-irty is actually "Horus, foremost of no or without eyesight." (The "me" and "en" do the same thing to His name, both at the same time doesn't happen as far as I know.) This is the Heru who has lost His eyesight due to the blinding injury of the moon every month.

Heru-Khenty-irty is "Horus, foremost of eyesight". Who is the Heru who is whole most of the month.

They are technically the same Heru at different time points within the month, but that difference can be pretty big. (After all asking a blinded Heru for help having something be revealed, might not work as well as asking the Heru with excellent sight.)

As a suggestion: why not use the areas in the Netjer Files for the various epithets of each of the Names? That seems like it would work really well for everyone involved as no new forums have to be created and it's easily navigated.

I won't talk about the Gods, because They have always accepted me as I am. However I'll talk about Their children who have been very kind to me.

For me, I came to the House calling myself female; I was assigned female at birth and it had always sat wrong with me to call myself female, but...I'd never known any other way.
Right around the time I joined, I started heavily questioning that acceptance. I started researching and found a whole lot of terms, none of which fit perfectly. Right up until I was a Shemsu, when I found the term "gender fluid". I was so excited and I told the boyfriend of that time about it and how much I wanted to dress more masculine and feel more like myself rather than this awkward adult. And he crushed my excitement with his refusal to be around me in public if I wasn't a cis woman dressing like a cis woman. He "wasn't gay after all".

A year later, I met this awesome person named T and T made me so very happy and joyful that there was a non-binary person I'd met. To me they were so comfortable with themself and I couldn't help my jealousy at being able to truly be themself. (Thus my goofiness at that Retreat; I looked up to you so much that you were this shiny, awesome person I knew. And I, a very awkward Ra'awy trying to be something I wasn't.)
About two or three years later, I went to Retreat and met a very wonderful, amazing, awesome person named A. They made me feel comfortable enough to quietly come out as gender fluid. I had left the man who didn't want me to be myself because of how other folks would perceive him. A talked about being gender fluid and I went "oh wow I am too!" And A asked what my pronouns were and started actually calling me by they/them. It was literally the best Retreat of my life; I finally got to be myself and folks were crazy supportive. (Although a few were shocked, after all I'd been showing up for a few years now...but I hadn't told anyone.) And having the pronouns in my heart be spoken aloud for me... Nothing better in the world.

And since then, this has been one of the most supportive communities for me when it comes to LGBT+ things. I am grateful for all the queer and gender queer folks I have come to know here and all the allies we have.

Em hotep everyone! *henu*

I personally never saw too much of a connection between my Names and what I've done for work. I worked in the food industry, I've worked retail for many years, I did a short stint in flower delivery, and I am currently a human tissue processing technician.
It was brought to my attention by a Yinepu kid (I believe?) that processing human tissues to be used in surgeries around the world is a pretty Yinepu thing to do. He's the Beloved I have that I least connect to directly, so this was a very pleasant surprise!

In my non-working life, I do netjeri things and that aligns very well with the magical aspects of my Mom; particularly in the way many of them end up being protective of their human companions.

I also read and knit frequently, but that's not much of a thing many of Them deal with, at least not that I'm aware of. However I'm happy in the little things I do that remind me of Them daily: every hawk is a Dua Heru-wer, every sunrise is a success in Mom binding Ap/ep, every dark, mysterious place is Nehmet-Awai's hand, the warmth of the sun is both Ra and Sekhmet-Mut. 😊

This is a great topic! Thanks for bringing it up!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Who Would Like Patchouli Incense?
« on: February 17, 2019, 08:08:09 am »
Em hotep EclipseQueen!

I have a few (rhetorical) questions for you, and then I'll share my opinion. Do you enjoy the Patchouli incense? Are there any Netjeru you would associate with the feelings that it gives you when you burn it?

Truthfully, the incense scent itself isn't what is associated with the Netjer or Netjeru in question, but individual people determine, with trial and error, which of the Names in their lives enjoy what. It's very, very much dependent on you and your individual experiences with Them, and while we can offer suggestions on what works for us, it may or may not work for you.

Saying all that, both Bast, as Lady of Perfumes, and Nefertem, a God of perfume, would be likely to appreciate it. I personally associate Heru-wer with that scent, particularly if mixed with orange.
