UPDATE: Unfortunately, Emily's mother passed a few days ago. Prayers for her ka would be appreciated.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Yet another question
« on: November 19, 2012, 01:55:35 pm »
I'm so sorry, I know I've been posting a lot of questions. I only recently discovered these forums so I really want to learn more about all of this. In any case, I have another question. I know that incense is a large part of paying tribute, but... I have a problem. I'm allergic to incense. I can hardly be around it for more than five minutes before I start to have trouble breathing. But I still want to pay tribute! What are other good ways that don't involve incense?

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / For the Parr family
« on: November 19, 2012, 01:51:37 pm »
Hey all. I'm new to the forums but I'd like to put out a request for prayers. My director is going through a very rough time right now, and her mother has less than a month left to live. Please, if you would take a bit of time out of your lives to pray for Emily Parr and her mother, and for the whole theatre in the hopes that we are able to pull the production together and not let Emily down. Thank you.

I'd love to learn some more Kemetic terms. I know "em hotep" is "welcome," but I've seen others floating around. Any chance you all could post some and their meanings, for my reference? Thanks!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Two questions
« on: November 19, 2012, 06:41:14 am »
First of all, I see that most of the people on this site have Kemetic names... when and how is a person assigned one?

Second, what is the view of homosexuality in this faith? I, personally, am lesbian. I have always felt most connected to Bast, and I have never felt that she could hate me for who I love, as some people claim the Christian god would. I know I read that Bast was considered the sexual partner of goddesses as well as gods, but that could easily have been misinformation, and I'd like to be sure.

Em Hotep!

My name is Kyra. I'm new to this forum, as well as Kemetic Orthodoxy. I've been praying to the Egyptian gods and goddesses since I was eleven or twelve, but I only just stumbled upon this website and discovered that I wasn't the only one. I'm so glad that I know now, and I'd love to meet some other worshipers. Don't be afraid to come say hi, please!
