Em hotep, Sekhmet sibling! I'm Tjemsy, good to meet you. I am glad you are here. <3

We get returning members, including those who have been gone for long periods, fairly regularly, including

- people who left for another path/other deities, and then came back when they found out that wasn't for them after all
- people who left for another path/other deities, came back, and continued to practice the other paths/work with the other deities
- people who left for another path/other deities, came back, and continued to practice only some of the other paths/work with only some of the other deities
- people who left for another path/other deities at Netjer's behest, came back, and may or may not continue to practice the other paths/work with the other deities
- people who left for another path/other deities and came back more than once, for any number of reasons

Whether or not people stop practicing Kemeticism entirely or just leave the House while continuing to work with Netjer during these times seems to vary, as well.

We also have a number of members who are multi-trad. Sometimes people were already pursuing other paths/working with other deities when they came to the House. Sometimes the other paths/other deities happened while they were already Kemetic/with the House, but they never left Kemeticism/the House. Sometimes people were already doing multiple things at the same time from the very beginning, and continue to do multiple things now.

What I'm meaning to say is, you're not alone, and these things happen. Netjer understands and wants what's best for us. Sometimes that does involve leaving and coming back, or doing multiple things while here. <3

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: What's your favorite Holiday?

Beautiful Reunion!! <3 I also really like Wep Ronpet, but honestly I think that's more about Retreat than anything.

I have actually given my deities gifts for Moomas, as well! Candy canes and whatnot, and putting things in those lil mini gift bags and putting the little mini gift bows all over the shrine. I haven't done it for a while, tho. :(

Em hotep and welcome! <3 I am just going to throw out there that you don't have to drop any other pantheon for KO, if you don't wish to. We have many members who honor deities from other pantheons, and there is no rule against this. I've never worked with the Greek pantheon, but I do have a lingering fondness for Apollon myself, coming from my love of Greek myth growing up. I don't think there's anyone quite like him in the Kemetic pantheon, and while there are deities who may share associations with the Theoi, there is no direct translation for them. It is also notable that we don't really have a "God of Love" or whatnot, just that sometimes some deities may have a stronger association with some things than others. All of the Netjeru can fulfill multiple functions, and even those not traditionally associated with a thing can still help with that thing.

For Love, everyone is likely to name their own personal deities. I would like to present Set as profoundly loving, as I feel he is too often understood as a solely "aggressive" deity. Sekhmet, as well, though I feel people are more likely to go to her than Set because of that "feminine deities are mothers and mothers are loving" thing that a lot of people have going on.

Generally speaking, I would say Hethert/Hathor hands-down. She's probably the most likely to be listed as a "Goddess of Love" on the Internet, and has associations with motherhood and femininity. Additonally, one of our Big Holidays, The Beautiful Reunion, is a great celebration of the love between her and her husband Heru-Wer (Horus the Great, or Horus as the son of Geb and Nut/Nuit rather than the Horus who is the son of Aset/Isis and Wesir/Osiris). The Reunion is centered around the happy couple finally reuniting after a long time apart. Bast is often suggested as a deity particularly interested in promoting self-love, though imo Hethert seems to tend toward romantic love as well as self-love. Aset/Isis is less often explicitly associated with love, but can be understood as the loving mother of Heru-sa-Aset (Horus the Younger), and wife of Wesir/Osiris. When Wesir is killed by Set so he can become the King of the Duat, Aset mourns. There are two Big Holidays associated with this, Aset Luminous and the Wesir Mysteries. I would also like to submit Nebthet/Nephthys, as Lady of Compassion. She also loved Wesir, and mourns him alongside her sister Aset, also having a role in the Wesir Mysteries ("the Lamentations of Aset & Nebthet"). Nebthet is heavily associated with the Duat and the Akhu (the blessed dead). She is known as their caretaker and Queen, and is said to comfort those in mourning as well as those in the process of crossing over. Mut is strongly associated with motherhood and queenship.

For Wealth, many people offer coins to Heru-Wer, and seem to find that he has a particular interest in helping people with financial matters, as well as matters of employment. Wepwawet is the Opener of Ways. He is possibility and change and opportunity, so he's good to go to for pretty much anything, finances included. I also find him to be interested in travel, and personally offer him coins from around the world. He might be a little Hermes-esque in that regard, at least as much as any Kemetic deity can be. ^^; It is also notable that in KO, this year is considered to be His Year, so he's like to be even more active now than usual. You could also argue for the inclusion of any deity associated with fertility, but I'm thinking of Hapi specifically. He is the Nile, and the Inundation gives "wealth" to the land. There are also a lot of deities with the epithet "Lady of Gold."

For the Sea, there aren't really any Netjeru associated with it specifically imo. I find that many devotees of Sobek also associate him with the sea, though he doesn't have any historical connection with it that I am aware of. Hapi is associated with the Nile and the Inundation. Tefnut is associated with water and moisture.

EDIT: WOW this is long. Sorry about that. ^^; I have edited to space things out so hopefully it's less of a wall of text.

Em hotep and welcome! I hope you enjoy your time here! <3

I know you! I've followed you on Tumblr for like, forever. You don't know me, though. Heheh. ^^;

I'm Tjemsy. My Parents are Sekhmet and Set, and Taweret is one of my Beloveds! I have not heard of Taweret-Sekhmet before, but my Sekhmet primarily manifests as "Lady of Slaughter" so that is interesting to me! I would be curious to hear how you experience her. <3

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / For the ka of Tom J. Driebe

My uncle growing up, Thomas "Tom" J. Driebe, walked on this week. My aunt remarried and he kind of disappeared, but he was around for a good while when I was growing up, so I remember him. I still have the wooden bunny bank he carved for me when I was young.

Prayers for his ka, and his safe journey West. <3

Em hotep and welcome! <3

Hello, friend. I am sorry to hear you are still experiencing this. Over here in camp Tjemsy, it's been radio silent for, like, two years, or something. Recently I have had some uptick in Loki activity (am also Lokean), but that has been in the last few days, and still nothing from Netjer except for vague energy tingles when saying "Kemetic Grace." And that is an improvement from the "not even vague energy tingles" that has been the longer bit of these two or however many years it's been. (I have a poor sense of time.)

So I feel you: this sucks. I have had all of the same thoughts you have. Am I not worthy of their attention? Why won't they X when they have done X before? Why not just say they're busy if they're busy, or I'm not ready if I'm not ready? Etc etc.

I still go through the motions. I am of the mind that they (probably) can hear me even if I can't hear them. I have a good friend I don't talk to much, because things get in the way. But I still regard them as my good friend, and when we do get in touch, it doesn't feel like we've lost any time. I try and think of fallow times like that. Just because I haven't heard from them doesn't mean we're not friends. It doesn't work for everyone, but it works for me. That isn't to say I don't have my moments where I'm just hurting from the lack of contact. I do. And they suck. But I'm basically running on The Power of Love, here, as silly as that sounds, and it carries me through.

I can go through the motions and take all this long-term silence because I love the absolute stuffing out of my gods. I talk to them because I like talking to them, even if I don't get a discernable answer. I give them things because I think they'd like them. Oftentimes this comes in the way of food, like I try something that I think is absolutely amazing and therefore they must try it or they're missing out, and we can't have that, can we. I don't know why I am this way. I (usually) haven't had any kind of Super Important Godly Event happen, and the few times that such has been a thing, it's usually just the one deity and not so much the other 8. And I'm about even on love for everyone, I'd say, even the ones I haven't really gotten strong responses from at all, like my Beloveds Bast & Wepwawet.

As such, I'm afraid I'm not going to be very helpful to people who are experiencing fallow times while being not me. I know that "You'll get through this! Hang in there! It'll get better!" all feels pretty ick when you're in the thick of it. So I hope I'm not making matters worse. :'D But I did want to say something.

Some reading on fallow times here:

If you search Kemetic Round Table, a lot of people have written a lot of things on this topic. These are just the ones I personally remember.

Re: Thoth/Djehuty, have you considered seeking divination? Maybe that can shed some light on what's going on (or not), there.
