[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Re: Question regarding Set
« on: June 05, 2011, 05:58:13 am »
I don't take the myths as literally true but if this event did happen, based on my relationship with Set and my relationship with Wesir, I do not think Set killed Wesir for any other reason but duty. I think this is something They both talked over and thought deeply about before taking action. But in the end I think Wesir knew He had to die and accepted it and Set knew He had to kill and accepted it. They did what They had to do to get the job done.

But as I stated before this is based on my own personal experiences with these two gods, how They interact with each other in my perception, and what They have told me. Others may interpret events differently. :)

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Depression and worship
« on: March 06, 2011, 09:41:30 am »
For me personally I have just come to accept that I am going to go through periods where I feel disconnected from my gods and periods where I don't. I recognize that the disconnected periods do not last forever though they may feel like they do and that the gods haven't actually gone anywhere. And knowing that the periods of disconnect correspond with periods of worsening depression symptoms also helps when those thoughts of abandonment creep in. But also as Zat mentioned it is important to keep at least in contact with Them. Though I may not do my usual rituals like senut when depression is bad I still try to keep praying and talking to Them informally. I don't always remember or have the energy to do so but beating myself up over it will just make things worse and so I've decided to take the path of accepting and understanding these parts of my life.

What you said here Sesha is also how I see ma'at. To me ma'at is more about keeping the balance than absolute good vs. absolute evil. Though I suppose personal ma'at comes closer to what is traditionally considered morality or a moral code. You can see it directly in the weighing of the heart. The desired outcome is not for our hearts to weigh more or less than Ma'at's feather but to be the same weight and therefore balance the weight of Her feather.

For me it is Wesir. I met Him for the first time on His birthday either the first or second Wep Ronpet after my RPD and I thought that would be it but since then He has stopped by many times to see how I'm doing. I feel a connection to Him but I haven't been able to place just what that connection is and whenever He comes around it makes me so happy, like seeing a long lost friend. I have some ideas (like His connection to Ra) but next time He comes around I just may ask Him. ;) He's claimed a beer glass I got while on a brewery tour and at the Wag Fest gathering in CT I won some fig incense in a raffle which Hemet mentioned was a Wesir scent. I think that may have been a hint that He wants more interaction. I just got to get out of this slump I'm in.

I can definitely see the connection but then trees in general make me think of Wesir. :)

Truthfully my heart wasn't always in it as I knew I wasn't born depressed.  So I disagree with the assertion that some people cannot survive without medication.

Actually Kheper, this statement isn't saying what you think it's saying and I got the same impression of it as Ubenet. It's in the way you phrased the last sentence. If you disagree that even some people need medication then obviously you think no one needs it. A better way to phrase that would be "So I disagree with the assertion that everyone who has these types of issues cannot survive without medication". Gets across what you're trying to say much better. :)

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Re: Djehuty as Artisan
« on: August 18, 2010, 12:42:29 pm »
Em hotep Demai!

I've honestly never heard Djehuty described as a god of artisans. Though He definitely has a ton more roles other than the writer/scribe one. I personally get Him as both a trickster and Ra's consigliere as Khusi so aptly termed it. I'd also be interested in hearing more about this. :)

Honestly, it all comes down to balance. Set and Heru-wer are more than just twins, they are equal opposites. They balance each other out. So more often than not when One comes so does the Other.

ETA: I'd recommend looking up information on the Bawy to really get an understanding of the dynamics between Set and Heru-wer.

As one of the ones who contributed to the off topic-ness I apologize though I don't think I was entirely in the wrong for doing so as I was directly responding to something you had said.

Anyway, the Nisut is both my teacher and my spiritual mother. While I take many avenues of learning, when it comes to this faith Hemet has contributed a lot to my knowledge. She is my spiritual mother because she was the one who initiated me into this faith if you think of initiation as a re-birthing process. I have much respect for her and while I may not always agree I do take into consideration all that she says. In a way I guess you could say she is one of my role models. :)

Quote from: Devo
Good bad or indifferent, most of these make her sound more like a priest than a Nisut. I guess I don't understand why she chose to be one over the other.
I'm glad to see that she seems to talk to people once they are a part of KO. I personally find it a bit disconcerting that she is the leader of a group, yet I have yet to see her anywhere here on the forums, or anywhere else. Not to mention the state of the websites and everything else. Which also was part of my confusion, in that a leader seems to be very absent from her people.

She's not absent from us at all. There are the Ask the Nisut forums, the weekly chats, all the Tawy House events and gatherings like work studies and Wep Ronpet, she's involved with the beginner's class, and does the RPDs, she is reachable by phone, email, boards, and instant messaging. So nope, not absent at all :)

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Christmas?
« on: November 11, 2009, 09:41:47 am »
I don't see a problem with celebrating Christmas while being non-Christian. Especially when my family  and friends have been so loving and accepting of my faith and have celebrated my faith's holidays with me. It's a time to enjoy company with the people I love and who love me back.

There are no Names that I feel an aversion to or dislike. I welcome anyOne Who wants to stop by and say hi or impart a lesson on me. I think They are all awesome in Their own ways. :)

I have a lower back tattoo of Heru's eyes on feathers and I don't think of it as a tramp stamp or trampy...
