That is most likely what the Ancient Egyptians believed to a certain extent, but their religion evolved and changed throughout the kingdoms.

I wouldn't say I agree, that it is the only way to reach the afterlife, but this is my personal opinion.

My grandmother passed a while ago and her body was cremated. This was the first death of a family member I have experienced and I waited for her to make an appearance, it was at least two months before I made contact with her in the afterlife. during that time I started to think that she didn't make it through the Duat. When she spoke to me she told me she had being busy, that all her time couldn't dedicated to the living anymore.

I have no fear, I see the preservation of the body as a precaution for if it takes longer than normal to travel through the Duat.

There is an unanswered question in the apparently flawless evidence, that seemed to be glazed over, where is the evidence left over from the civilization of 10.000BC? I have come to terms that there never be an answer to how they did it

I think it's pretty normal. I absolutely love sun, especially dry heat. It helps my psoriasis as well.  My partner hates the warmth and light of the sun, he says it feels like his back and eyes are burning even when it is coming through the window with closed curtains, but he thrives in winter. Everyone reacts to sunlight and heat differently. I have SAD and when winter comes round I slowly start feeling more and more miserable to the point I don't want to get out of bed. I have to use light boxes to help my mood swings until my body adjusts for the days lengthen again, but I know others can have SAD when summer is coming along, they are not designed for exposure to lots of light.

So, no I wouldn't call it strange. I live with someone similar to you ;D

I am quite a tom-boy in most things I do, so I wear ski headbands, as they cover most of my head to keep my hair back, but my hair can be tucked in at the back or left out loose. I don't see any pressures in the House from wearing headscarves, it is most definitely personal choice, but I think there is sense of devotion that comes with wearing a headscarf, that is probably from hanging out with my Muslim friends

Thank you so much. I didn't know about the discussion pages for wikipedia, very interesting. Your time is much appreciated. I think so too, it makes more sense with Her links to writing and recording of knowledge, hopefully the archaeologists will discover something to bring light to this :)

Someone on a facebook, decided to put up some information about Sheshat and Her picture. Then someone else commented that Her headdress looked like the cannabis leaf. I mentioned that I thought it was a papyrus plant, which Her connection to record keeping. The original poster states:

Her seven pointed "flower" or "star" is an accurate image of a hemp leaf. The leaf is typically made up of seven points and arranged in the same pattern as the most prominent sign in Sheshat's emblem. Hemp is, and has long been, an excellent material for making ropes with low-stretch quality required for measuring cords, particularly when these are greased to reduce variations in their moisture content which would influence elongation.

The characteristic leaf of the plant used in making these ropes was thus a logical choice for the emblem designer who wanted an easily recognized reference to Sheshat's job. This leaf is so unique that it is hard to confuse with other plants. Hemp is said to be native to Central Asia and its presence in pre-Dynastic Egypt is not otherwise documented. However the hemp leaf in Sheshat's emblem shows that the ancient Egyptian rope-stretchers used hemp for their measuring cords and that Sheshat cannot deny her now illegal patronage and ownership of this psycho-active plant.


I asked for a source and they haven't given one. Is there any truth to this or are they talking out their back end?

Fair enough, think this warrants more research thank you Brea. ;D

I know Netjeru, either taken or given the animal forms as it is close to their role or behaviour and not necessarily animal-minded  but from my experience with Bast, She has asked me for items from catnip to safety pins. I was just wondering if anyone got what they believed to be odd requests

During my meditation. Anpu came forth and he showed me a bowl of white rice. I got the feeling he wants me to offer him some. I know it's somewhat common for Netjeru to be like their animal representatives. Do jackals/dogs eat rice? And have you had any strange or unexpected requests for offerings?

Thats beautiful Kit, love the one with Ra giving you a hug. I have had a similar experience before I started Senut or even knew about the House. My Grandma had just passed away she had a a series of strokes and began to lose her short term memory. It was the first time someone in my close family had died and it hit me hard. I cried myself to sleep and had a rather long dream with Ra holding me close and singing what sounded like lullabies.

I performed Senut and asked for anyone to come forward, who is interested in me and then settled myself into meditation. I usually don't get any visions, since I started performing Senut, but this time was different. I felt a bit overwhelmed as it all seemed to happen so fast, it felt like 2 minutes when in fact I was meditating for about 30 minutes.

First I found myself in a desert, when Amun came hopping or bouncing towards me as a stone statue, His plumes were shimmering gold in the sun. He leaned towards and then pointed towards a vast flat desert, overlooked by a glorious over sized sun.

As I began walking in that direction, I felt someone walking next to me. I turned and it was Sekhmet, She smiled and grabbed my hand tightly, She started to run, it was almost like I was forced to run as She dragged me further into the desert. Then suddenly We jumped into a ravine, and fell into a rushing river. Sekhmet changed into a fish and began swimming along side me. I just about kept my head above the water, when I was pushed on to the sandy shore, as if I was expelled from an ocean.

The sky started turning dark and the stars appeared, they began to move and wiggle in the sky, when Nut became noticeable, She stroked my hair and picked me up and swallowed me whole. I felt like I was flying through the gates of the Duat at great speed and came to a sudden stop at a large gate, inside there was a huge room with black and white marble floor, with a balcony supported by huge white columns with shadowy figures shifting above me.

As I walked further into the room. I saw a large golden scale before me. Anpu noticed me and gave me a gentle nod. I then Djehuty next to Him, writing on a scroll. He stopped writing and bent forward slightly, as if He was bowing to me. I then walked further up some small stairs and before a massive throne, where Wesir sat. I knelt before Him and he leaned forward and ruffled my hair.

I then appeared in a desert again, just before dawn. Ptah put His hand on my back and lead me towards the edge of a cliff, where He held my hand and pointed towards the horizon. Khepera as a scarab beetle, rolling the sun above the horizon appeared and light flooded my vision. I then opened my eyes.

I found it odd that Amun, Nut and Khepera came to me. I never really paid much attention to Them before. I also thought Bast may of appeared as I have had a lot of experiences with Her previously, but I get the feeling She has stepped to the side since I have come to the House.

Would anyone like to share their visions from meditations?

In mythology, the Ka is described as being "breathed in" to a person, either before or after birth. I was wondering if there is any mythology on the creation or development of the Ba soul.

I assume they would bring food directly to the graves of their relatives that had died, as the Ka usually stays close of within the body. Try their best to keep them sustained, this way.

I think the level of preservation that the Ancient Egyptians once did, can be seen as impractical and expensive in modern times. The hot and dry climate of Kemet, helped immensely in the preservation of their dead. In the history of UK, where I live, the rainy climate would not be appropriate to have bodies near by that can cause illness and infection to spread, so they would bury them and in Scandinavian lands, when the ground was as hard as rock because of the cold climate, they would burn them. It made sense to do what they did, by the means of their environment.

My personal opinion, Kau, can inhabit objects that are the likeness to themselves, this can be statues, photos, artwork, personal items, anything that belonged to looks like them in life. They don't NEED a body to continue to exist, but it is a convenient place to remind themselves of their life, if there is no other place.

When Queen Hatshepsut passed away, people, who were not a fan of her rule. Had her name scratched out from temples and monuments, images of her were defaced, in a cruel and horrible attempt to erase her memory from existence. From this I see that having the deceased in your thoughts, can help keep them alive, but food obviously being a much larger gesture of appreciation and respect.

After the deceased becomes a Akh. I think they live on regardless of offerings, but this when they may not be happy, if you insult their memory and don't show them appreciation for the life they have given you and cause trouble in your life.

Obviously this is just what I think.
