[PUBLIC] Serving the World: Ma'at In Action / Re: Trying Something New
« on: March 11, 2019, 09:35:49 am »
This is a great thread.  I love it.

I haven't really done anything strictly related to my Father, but if I could I've always wanted to join the military.  That would tie very well with my Father and my Beloved Set.  I've also wanted to be apart of law enforcement, but sadly my medical/physical conditions prevent me from doing so.  So I'm still looking on that front.  Aside from that, I usually try to be a good person and do good things in my Father's name.

For my Beloved Aset-Serqet, I am deeply involved with magical practice and, even though it's a completely different tradition, I still dedicate my Wiccan practice in Her name.  That's what I associate with Her most strongly.  I've thought about being a healer, but school is sadly too expensive for me to afford.

Like everyone has pointed out already, I also believe Anpu/Anubis truly understand the situation and all it will take is to tell Him that you wish to reconnect and offer Him something as well.  You may find that He simply stood back at the time, just waiting till you felt ready and has always been looking out for you till then.  :)

That is an excellent point Asethepetwi.  I completely forgot about that part of the Contendings where He cuts off Aset's head.  In fact I first learned through a book I read a couple years ago, and it boggled my mind at the time.  But about the child like manner and immaturity I can definitely see that being an aspect of a negative event.  And to add that, now that I think of it, there's also the recklessness part of my Papa's nature in His stories, especially as a young prince.  Being cocky and letting your arrogance override reason altogether.  Which can also be associated with Set as well when you think about it.

I was hoping someone would mention Set.  Thank you Sedjefaiemitui.  So many do not understand Him simply because of that reputation during the Graeco-Roman period and are constantly equating Him with the Devil.

To me Set represents anger, but again sometimes anger can be a good thing when you think about, because it does tend to motivate you to do something about a certain situation.  And if you're able to remain level-headed enough you can use that anger to focus that energy to do something good.  But again, He's not just that like you said Asethepetwi, and of course you Sedjefaiemmitui.  It all comes back to the balance.

It's hard for me to think of other Netjer that I would associate with negative aspects though.  I'd have to do some more deep thinking and brainstorming on that.

Em hotep Perankh,

I'm glad you're trying out the beginner's class and hope you have a marvelous time.  Also I love the Tarot and am an avid gamer myself, mostly classics like Nintendo and Sega Genesis for example.  :)

Em hotep Guga,

I absolutely adore Nut and She showed up in my RPD too.  Also, I completely agree with what you have said about Her behaving in that manner.  I've always had this distinct feeling of a Grandmotherly type of nature, She's everyone's favorite grandmother whether you're related by blood or not.  In my experience She's kind and compassionate, as well as protective too.  She's the one person you can always turn to and tell Her anything and She won't judge you.

Whenever I think of Her, I see a beautiful grandmother who's body is like it's very own universe of stars, suns, moons, planets, and galaxies, Her skin either black and glittering as the midnight sky or a deep blue.  When I think of what She smells like, it's always flowers, like She just spent time in a garden or something.  Just nature-y.

If you need to see Her, She's the one knows beforehand that you're coming, and has already set up tea.  This is my personal gnosis so don't quote me, but I've always had the sense that She likes milk and honey, and as I've said tea.  And warm incense that makes relax as soon as you smell it, as to what kind I think She likes them all.  I agree that She's quiet, not as outspoken as some Netjer are because She likes to take it all in before stating Her mind and giving advice.  She wants you to be happy and enjoying life and will readily offer a shoulder to cry if need be.  A song that comes to mind in that sense is Bill Withers' Lean On Me.

These are all great.  I especially love the Wadjet Eye Book of Shadows, and that Horus lamp is hilarious.  As for myself, when it comes to getting accessories etc.. my most favorite place to shop is Amazon and I've found some pretty awesome things there, especially their statues.

Like this gorgeous Heru-sa-Aset statue:

And this awesome Wadjet bracelet I got last year for Christmas:

There's also this pretty cool Wadjet necklace too:

You can find a ton of pretty awesome stuff on Amazon.  :)

lol Good for you Daisy.  I'm glad you were able to enjoy your first Senut.  It'll get easier as you practice more and get into that groove.  :)

9
Em hotep Daisy, I completely understand how you feel having severe anxiety myself, especially when I first started practicing Senut.  I was so worried about getting it wrong or I wouldn't feel anything etc...  But like others have said, the Netjer will understand if you make a mistake.  They know we are only human after all and mistakes will happen.  My advice is to just breathe, ground and center yourself first, and focus on the intent of the ritual itself which is what really matters overall.  Speaking from personal experience They won't get mad if you slip up on something I promise.  :)

lets see...

Amun-Ra: I would see them as both. But think Indiana Jones, museums, adventures, Venice, but also a counsler. in a warm inviting enviroment that they are happy to sit and speak with you but also give you sound advice and a whoop over the head as a "lesson".

Sekhmet-Mut: here i would separate... Sekhmet- doctor, lab tech, researcher, a job that requires skills, intelligence, and a hint of humor. Mut- Lady CEO or Miranda from " Devil Wears Prada" i don't know why... but it seems fitting. If you put them together you get- an Educated fashion designer who also volunteers her time with groups that need her. ( or something of that flavor)

Wepwawet- Yinepu: This is pretty easy- or not! LOL... You know the story of Haichi? the dog who waited for his owner after the owner died.... that kind of loyalty. that is how i get Yinepu... loyalty, be there no matter what, a strong hand to hold on to, and a good buddy to have a beer with ( or your favorite beverage). I'm still learning Wepwawet, but i think a bouncer or DJ. something like that.

Wow.. my brain is weird. <3

Em hotep Ihhyensenu, you're not weird at all.  I love the Indiana Jones idea.  And I like your Wepwawet-Yinepu idea too.  As for Sekhmet, definitely, and I don't have much experience with Mut, but I like it nonetheless.  :)

Djehuty and Seshat would probably be librarians or record keepers. It fits them so much! ;)

Yep.  I can see that for Seshat, especially as a record keeper, and of course definitely Djehuty as a librarian, working at either the grandest library in the world, or even just a small town library too.  :)

12
Bes would be a bouncer.

I love this.  :D

:D Since they've not been mentioned yet, I'm going to go with Shu and Tefnut being meteorologists/storm chasers. Tefnut is soooo particular regarding getting data on wind speed, rainfall, cloud types, barometric pressure, etc. while Shu  - ok, he does that too, but - is more of an adrenaline junky when it comes to tornadoes and hurricanes. :D

That is an interesting idea for Shu and Tefnut definitely.  :)

Updating the narrative, I think that at Pagan Farmer Ra’s poker game he occasionally invites Heru Wer and Hethert over too, Hethert  I imagine owns a bakery/pastry shop much like one in my neighborhood called “Let them eat cake!” And She always brings goodies for the guys to eat which everyone loves but Heru Wer shows up in his brand new red corvette and throws 100 bills around when they were playing poker with 5 dollar bills and 1’s always saying he “never carries change.” Which everyone is annoyed at, so they don’t get invited too often. LOL!

Em hotep, everyone~ *henu*

I found this thread pretty fun too, so hope it's ok to join in~ :)

I'm so glad someone else added Atum! I see Him as the Jack-of-all-Trades, being able to do any job that comes up, and having so many skillsets that He can help whenever it's needed. I agree that He seems the type to be out of the limelight or behind the scenes, everyone knows Him, but at the same time no one really 'knows' Him. Yet He's always busy moving/working away trying to make things better.

Hethert I see in the arts, maybe a music or dance teacher (or both!). Teaching kids or adults to start hobbies they love or are passionate about (even things like seamstress work or making jewelry). She also has a ton of skills in different art forms, is highly confident and Her smile just lightens any room She walks in, and when not teaching, she's performing on the big stage~ :)

Heru-sa-Aset is more police oriented, working with the public directly, and righting any wrongs (keeping ma'at). He volunteers a lot on the side for the community, and is good with kids. I see Him as exceptionally good at His job, even though He's one of the youngest in the force, and sort of a role model for other employees to keep working hard, upholding one's integrity and high standards at all times.

Set I see as someone in the military, or another first response person (whether police, fire fighter or paramedic). He never loses His cool, and is focused at all times even when chaos is everywhere around Him. He is highly practical, and gets the job done that others might have trouble doing. If He's in the military, I can see Him side by side with His Brother, Heru-Wer. Both on the field watching each other's back, but approaching situations a little differently.

I hope nothing is offensive... but this was fun~ :)

Please feel free to join in.  The more the merrier I say.  I didn't see anything offensive at all in your ideas.  :)  I also like your idea about Heru-wer and Set.  As well as Heru-sa-Aset too.  I really like the idea of Him being a policeman or detective.  It just sounds exactly like something He would do, and he'd probably be the most decorative of his profession, though of course He couldn't care less about the awards, He'd be all about doing the job right and making sure Ma'at is upheld.
