[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Re: Hey Everyone
« on: August 15, 2017, 01:31:56 am »
Hi, Mirath!
Nice to meet you. I should say that besides truly spiritual talks we have a lot of interesting historical references here and practical information, so it shouldn't be boring at all. The community is great and helpful.
I can get the reasons why you are here and yes, usually this kind of interest is not a pure coincidence. Have you considered the beginner's course? It would explain the concepts so you can get the whole idea.

Prayers for you and your fur baby.
I hope you are safe and you are getting well.

Em hotep!
I like the idea of living plants as things that remind of Parents or Beloveds, as well as flower offerings. I mostly keep plants not exactly in my Senut shrine but nearby, taking into consideration I need to take care of them ( sunshine, watering, dry leaves etc.)
Just to make sure there is no unintended soil/debris/water on the shrine space.

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Question about bees
« on: July 15, 2017, 11:43:38 pm »
Em hotep, everyone!
Could you please give me some ideas about what Name are bumblebees associated with?
I remember bees associated with Neith (is it right?) and being called "tears of Ra", but does it apply to bumblebees as well?

Florence and the Machine has some songs that I can associate with Wesir, for example Heavy in Your Arms, maybe Never Let Me Go and of course, My Boy Builds Coffins

There might be more, I haven't explored her discography yet.

I'm also fresh here, hope you love it, as I do!
Smooth moving in to you.

Idk, if American Gods print is ok here, but this watercolor of Bast is gorgeous: https://neverwear.net/collections/frontpage/products/david-mack-illustrates-american-gods

I think the best thing you can do is to forgive yourself. This will give you strength to move one and make up for your mistakes. Conscience is a good thing, toxic guilt - not. If you are trying to be better, and doing something to reach the goal, it already counts.
Try asking the gods for guidance, in this way you'll make sure you are doing the right things and keep in touch with them.

Banoub, what if it is a question of a personal responsibility and your own choice? Same goes for healthy/unhealthy eating, alcohol, whatever. Why should it be addressed to the Gods? I am not telling it should be so or so, let just think of Ma'at first. Does consuming marijuana make you better? worse? No. It is just the way you behave and the responsibility you take.
I guess there should be people who know from their own experience about such things, who speak to their Parents daily. Maybe they could give you better insight on this topic.

Sekhepenaset, I am sorry but why did you comment on how someone's mom behave? Isn't it her own business?

I like to think of it altogether as:
"Here are the rules. Then, there's Seth, as an exception. But alogether it's Ma'at and it works. Nice plan, right? Noone would say I haven't foreseen the exception"

Asetemsatweret, okay, I can agree with it, especially if we define Ma'at as "good".
The other thing, we can define it as "lawful"  :)

Well, I can agree with this:
Quote
He follows his own moral compass, which, ...., may not always agree with that of society.
and don't want do maunder, but there's my opinion that even a human is more complicated than any AD&D, MBTI or any other classification. So could we say for sure, God is such and such? Why don't you think He could be chaotic neutral or even chaotic evil? What's so wrong with anger? I don't believe He tame it, I think He knows how to deal with it.
