[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Who Would Like Patchouli Incense?
« on: February 20, 2019, 12:01:09 am »
Em hotep! I thought I'd let you guys know what I've been experimenting with.

So I feel Yinepu really likes Patchouli, I feel like he gets really relaxed when I light it. I think Kephri likes it too due to his laid back nature. It's a nice scent to help me sleep, personally.
I got some more incense and the Dragon's Blood I got is really strong, but Sekhmet and Set really like it. (probably because it's so gosh darn strong) but it doesn't bother my cat, which Bast seems to appreciate.

Overall, it looks like patchouli is liked by almost everyone here! Will be sure to keep trying different ones though!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Questions for Entering the Beginning Class
« on: February 19, 2019, 03:50:49 pm »
I am 22 and I'm a dependant with my mother. I want to take the beginner class but I need her permission and right now she and I are not on speaking terms. She's never had a problem with me practicing my religion but due to how tense the situation is right now I don't trust her. My father is very supportive of my studies but he is not living with us right now. What do I need to do to take the beginner class in my current situation?

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Who Would Like Patchouli Incense?
« on: February 17, 2019, 12:09:37 am »
Em hotep, everyone! I have a question when it comes to incense.

I've finally been able to get another lighter so I can light candles and incense. I have a lot of Patchouli because it's very relaxing, but I wonder if there are any Netjer that may like it? I often hear about Dragon's Blood and Frankincense but, for all the scents that exist in the world, those can't be the only two that the Netjer enjoy. If anyone could let me know who may like it, I'd appreciate it!

Dua'et!

I will definitely mention their names and situation to Nut tonight. I pray that she and the children will be safe.

Set is, to me, a perfect reminder that it's okay to be upset at times. There's a reason why we have those emotions, after all. The reality is life isn't sunshine and rainbows all the time and we don't have to keep lying to ourselves that everything is "just fine" when it isn't. He's sure to let us know that we shouldn't act out of anger other take it out on anyone, including ourselves. Rather, He let's us know that we need to feel those emotions to understand them and let them go in a healthy manner.

Em hotep everyone, giving an update on my situation.

First off, sorry for misspelling Yinepu's name. How the 'e' in His name slipped past me, I have no idea.
Second, things have been going along in my life. I've had a small, plush of Yinepu on my shrine for as long as I could remember, but I've been carrying it around with me to help me out. Whenever I've felt sad or stressed I would give it a hug and it does make me feel a bit better. Yesterday something kinda went down but nothing major. My mom still doesn't like it that I'm not talking to her and she said "I'm about ready to have you institutionalized" to me, and beforehand blaming me for not wanting to talk to her. I know she can't do that to me, but it still hurt to hear. I just kept looking at the Yinepu plush in my hands until we got home.
That night I had an awful nightmare. An evil spirit was in my house and it looked like my mother. Later in the dream, there was a baby being killed by its mother. I woke up feeling absolutely horrified. I looked at the plush, placed by my bed, asking why I had such an awful dream. I think I'm being warned about something and He's trying to tell me to be careful, but at the same time I'm not so sure.

Sorry for the long post, will update should anything else happen.

Em hotep, everyone. A bit of context to help explain the title. I'll keep it as brief as possible but pardon me if this post becomes very long.

My mom reacted very poorly to a mental breakdown I had. I warned her to stay away from me and she took it as a threat. In reaction, she attempted to trap me in my own house and told me to cancel all of my classes when I only have one year left to get my bachelors degree. My aunt came to save me thankfully and I was able to continue to go to school. I am receiving mental help now and going forward with my plans to move out. I am not talking to my mother because of not only what she did but she completely belittled me as a person when she did it. I will hopefully be able to move out when I graduate.

I haven't done prayer in an awfully long time so I grabbed my prayer beads, filled my goblet with beer, got a slice of bread and made a whole bunch of spaghetti. The leftover beer that wasn't given for libation was drunk and I ate all the food I prepared so none of it would be wasted. I didn't know what to ask the Netjer for other than strength and guidance. I prayed to Tehuty since I knew he would think logically about my situation, Nut as I felt that she's been the better mother figure in my life, especially right now and for some reason, I said Yinpu's name out loud. I've just been thinking about him lately and I'm not one hundred percent sure why. Like all Netjer, I respect and follow him. I have never ignored him but I've never had a reason to ask anything about Yinpu before. Could he be trying to tell me something?

If anyone knows what could help me in this situation and/or what Yinpu may be trying to help me with, I would greatly appreciate it.
Dua Netjer en-ten!

Nice! I have that same figure myself and I've been meaning to get more. Right now I only have Weegyptians of Nut, Thoth and I just ordered Set today. I'm gonna need a bigger shrine because I just adore those little figures far too much!

Em hotep!

Tomorrow is my 21st birthday and I don't know what prayer I should say or how to honor the Netjer for my birth. Is there a proper way to do it or should I not worry too much? Thank you!

Ah! Thank you very much! I've already done reading on "Moomas" but I'll be sure to be well educated for the season!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Our form of "Merry Christmas"?
« on: December 13, 2017, 05:16:30 pm »
Em hotep, everyone! I hope the preparations for the upcoming holidays are treating you well.

I'm curious as to what our form of saying Merry Christmas is. Right now I have come up with "Em hotep, Heru her mise." which should be close to "Have peace and happiness on the birth of Horus."
However, I feel like there is a more accurate greeting for this. If anyone has a better way of wording it, it would be much appreciated.

Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone knew of some neat snacks I could try out and where to buy them. I know of those marshmallow cookies that originated in Egypt, but I want to try something you don't see everyday.
Any kinds of snacks are appreciated. Though wowie I love my sweets.

I guess the biggest I've seen, as unfortunately I have not seen many, is how they portray the gods in the Yu-Gi-Oh!! franchise. Now I love Duel Monsters and I've loved it ever since I was a kid, but I was always kind of bothered with how they made the gods dragons when we didn't really have dragons? Serpents yeah, but not European inspired dragons.

My friends made a point since they're called Winged Dragon of Ra and Dragon of Osiris, but that still doesn't change the point of the whole dragon shpeal. And then there's Obelisk the Tormentor, your guess would be a good as mine with what he's supposed to represent.
