[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Re: My name is Sesbetisenu.

Welcome back and nice to meet you!

Em hotep to the children of Netjer,

As of 9-5-2020, total donations are $1,892.20.

For a graphic representation of our goal of $2,500.00 and what we have received thus far, please see https://www.helpingtawy.com/donation-tracker/

We are on track to be able to meet our expenses this month and hopefully have a bit to add to our rainy day fund (The Rollover Fund, which will be discussed at greater length later in this post). Our goal, each month, is to raise at the very least, $2,500.00.

The following is a brief summary of how we distribute funds that we receive through donations:

The first $500.00 goes for general House of Netjer and minor Tawy House expenses (see the financial page at http://kemet.org/finances for more details.

The next $2,000.00 goes towards Hemet's salary. This satisfies the obligation to the Ministerial Services Contract, which supports her to work four 8-hour days per week and compensates her for her services. These include answering emails/forum posts, ritual work, pastoral counseling, divinations/RPD's, teaching, research, translations and many other things.

Anything over and above the total of the first $2,500.00 will go to the Rollover Fund, which helps us to cover shortfalls on months when donations fall below $2,500.00. The current Rollover Fund balance is $1,456.96, which we want to keep building as much as possible.
See https://www.netjer.org/forums/index.php?topic=23553.0 for details about the Rollover Fund.

If you plan on donating this month, please try to donate via the Paypal Giving Fund https://paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/70429 or through Zelle https://zellepay.com.
Regular PayPal donations will remove up to 10% of your donation through fees, but the PayPal Giving Fund and Zelle do not charge fees. Additionally, making donations through Amazon's shopping app just got easier. You can specify "House of Netjer" via Amazon Smile, in the app now. If you primarily work from a desktop, you can also do this from there.

Lastly, we have two current Fundraising drives, one of which is for preorders of the book "Seth, God of Confusion" (expiring soon!), the other is for the renewal of the King's stipend (will remain ongoing). For more information about these campaigns, see https://www.netjer.org/forums/index.php?topic=24342.0 (Seth Book) and https://www.netjer.org/forums/index.php?topic=24284.0 (King's Stipend).

Thank you all for your ongoing support which makes all that we do here in the House of Netjer possible!

Em hotep to the children of Netjer,

As of 8/22/20, donations for the period are:
$3,956.96, exceeding our monthly goal of $2,500.00. For a graphic representation please see https://www.helpingtawy.com/donation-tracker/

The Rollover Fund balance is $1,456.96.

Big thanks to all that donated and participated in other fundraising projects this past month! With the auction over Wep Ronpet and book sales, we were able to exceed our monthly goal. Keep up the good work!

Senebty,

Tatuayineupu and the Fundraising Team

Watch this space, there's a possibility of another contest for this book if you didn't win.

Thank you to all that participated!

Em hotep everyone,

As of 8-9-20,  total donations are $3,230.74

Yes, that amount is correct. We were able to do very well with the Wep Ronpet auction,  other fundraisers like the Sekhmet cloth masks, and regular donations. The Set book preorders are doing well, and there is even a contest for a free book that ends this coming Friday.

For a graphic representation of our goal of $2,500.00 and what we have received, please see https://www.helpingtawy.com/donation-tracker/

This means that we can meet our expenses this month and put the surplus back for a rainy day. Our goal is to raise at the very least, every month, $2,500.00.

The following is a general breakdown of how we distribute funds that we receive through donations:

The first $500.00 goes for general House of Netjer and minor Tawy House expenses (see the financial page at http://kemet.org/finances for details).

The next $2,000.00 goes towards Hemet's salary. This satisfies the obligation to the Ministerial Services Contract, which supports her to work four 8 hour days per week and compensates her for her services. These include answering emails/forum posts, ritual work, pastoral counseling, divinations/RPD's, teaching, research, translations and many other things.

Anything over and above the total of the first $2,500.00 will go into the Rollover Fund, which helps us to cover shortfalls on months when donations are below $2,500. The current Rollover Fund balance is $730.74, and we want to keep building this as much as possible. See https://www.netjer.org/forums/index.php?topic=23553.0 for details about the Rollover Fund.

If you plan on donating this month, please try to donate via the PayPal Giving Fund (https://paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/70429) or through Zelle (https://zellepay.com). Regular PayPal donations will remove up to 10% of your donation through fees, but the PayPal Giving Fund and Zelle do not charge fees. Additionally, making donations through Amazon's shopping app just got easier. You can specify "House of Netjer" via Amazon Smile, in the app now. You can also do this from your desktop.

Thank you all for making this possible. Dua Netjer!

Em hotep everyone!

An anonymous donor has given funds to cover the costs of one "Set: God of Confusion" book and shipping. They have asked that one book, be given to one member, free of charge.

If you are interested in participating in a drawing to be the recipient of this book, please email your name to fundraisers@kemet.org by Friday, August 14, 11:59 PM EST. The drawing will take place after that, and the winner notified privately.

Senebty,

Tatuayinepu

Em hotep everyone!

Here's your chance to get a hardback copy of Herman te Velde's famous work Seth, God of Confusion!

Te Velde (1932-2019) originally wrote this influential study as his doctoral thesis, which he defended in 1967 at the University of Groningen, in the Netherlands. (He went on to become head of the Institute of Egyptology there.)

This book is a reprint of Mrs. G. E. van Baaren-Pape's translation to English—hardbound with a beautifully embossed cover (I have a copy!), and an impressive dust jacket (see image links below). It runs to 198 pages in five sections: "The name and the animal of Seth," "Seth, the enemy and friend of Horus," "Seth the murderer of Osiris," "Seth repelling Apo/pis," and "Seth the foreigner." There are extensive footnotes on each page, and a 16 page bibliography, six pages of which were updated in 2018. There are hieroglyphs, 16 illustrations and 19 black and white photographs. Also included is a new foreword by University of Birmingham Egyptologist Anne Landborg, who calls the book "a superb example of a monograph examining an individual god."

What does Hemet say?
Quote
"The best book about Set that exists. People are always looking for it as it has been very rare/hard to find." ~ Hemet

Who is this book for?

We think you'll be interested in this book if:
  • You or someone you know loves Set!
  • Set is in your line-up;
  • Someone you know has Set in their line-up and would love this book as a gift;
  • You want a reference work on Set;
  • You just love researching our gods!

We got a deal!

For a long time, this book was hard to get at a sensible price, despite being much cited in academic articles. But we've negotiated a deal so that (a) you can get a reasonably priced copy, and (b) the House of Netjer benefits from an included contribution!

How it works

At this time, we're taking preorders for order in the US only, including shipping costs, until approximately Sept 30th. We'll then place an order with the publisher. When we receive the books (allow a few weeks!), everyone that placed an order will receive it as soon as possible.

If you are not in the US, please register your interest here:  fundraisers@kemet.org.

How much will it cost?

US$39.00 (a portion of which will go to the House of Netjer) plus US$8.00 shipping to US addresses. The book will be shipping by Priority Mail and a tracking number will be sent to you when it is shipped.

How do I get my copy? What do I do now?

If you are in the US, please go to our Bookstore http://www.kemet.org/node/3606
You will be able to pay using PayPal or Zelle. The instructions for Zelle are included on the bookstore page.
